I was thrilled and excited to find Sol Yoga, as I have been practicing yoga for 15 years and enjoy going to new studios. I went to my first class at Sol, and I was a bit dismayed when I went to use the restroom after class immediately after the teacher came out, and there was no toilet paper. She did not bother to replace it, or provide any to the following students. I thought it was rude, but whatever. A couple weeks later I was in a Yin class and saw what appeared to be termites crawling on the floor near me, and I told the instructor. For about a week, there was no action taken by the studio, all while the infestation of the termites grew and crawled all over the floor. Very hard to get your "Yin" on and relax while there are bugs crawling all over. We counted roughly 50 early on and students were using blocks to kill them, and continued to advise the teachers as the amount grew. Finally, Belinda had exterminators come in and treat the infestation a week later. I continued to go to class, and began having major concerns about the cleanliness of the studio. I went to a Sunday mediation class that immediately follows hot yoga. There were pools of sweat all over the entire floor. There was no attempt to clean the floors before the next batch of students came in, so we had to put our mats over sweaty areas since it was a large class. I also noticed there were "hairballs" along the edges and in the corners and of course on the floor. This was not a one time thing, but a pattern each class. Then there were the bolsters. Many had crusty and soiled areas and I couldn't help but wonder what was on them, considering students put their faces and sitting bones on them. Blankets had hair all over them and who knows what else. Students lay their faces on them, as well as sit on them. Keep in mind students used blocks to kill termites so there's that. The final straw was when I contracted Athlete's foot from the floor. I cancelled my membership with nearly a month left. It became very clear to me that Sol is basically a petri dish for germs and bacteria and is highly concerning, especially now that we are in the midst of a viral pandemic with the Coronavirus. I hope Sol will do better and be more mindful for the sake of everyone's health in the community. read more
