This conversation in Spanish took several minutes and created a very awkward environment at the table. I cannot think of a more divisive way to alienate your English speaking customers. I don't want to punish the owner by not returning because I'm sure she would not condone this behavior. I hope you will correct your staff on etiquette.

She showed us and let us sample a few of the different types of dates available, and even showed us how they grow and are picked from the palm trees. (They do offer tours that you can sign up for which we might have to go back for). Their property looks like a beautiful palm-filled oasis and is very worth visiting. We purchased 2 different types of dates that were both delicious and unique in their taste and texture. We will definitely go back and visit again soon.
