I've been buying from Fernandez Dates for years. Totally excellent. Because it takes time to eat so many dates (!), I remove them from the original package and move into three glass storage containers for air tight storage. They are just sooooo good and so much better than what you get in the supermarket. I've never had any issue with my order or shipping. I usually buy two boxes of 5 kg each so we never run out. In my initial review I stated I was no expert on dates but I am certainly becoming more knowledgeable as a result of Fernandez Dates. I started with the Medjool variety...plump, tender and delicious. I moved on to Barhi dates...smooth, sweet and carmely with a hint of butterscotch. Today it was Deglet Noor dates...dry and nutty with a firm texture. Oh, turns out dates are really healthy, fat free, full of fiber and a bit of an appetite suppressant. #win read more

Best dates I've ever eaten. By far. This vendor should have a 5 star rating IMO. Also their prices are better than the local health food store. I came across their stand at a Vista Farmer's Market. They had 1lb backs for $6.00 and 2 lb packs for $10.00. The gentleman at the stand mentioned they would not be coming back until September. I found Fernandez Dates at the Saturday morning farmer's market in Cerritos and I am hooked! I got a one pound pack of the medjools and I've had dates before but never any like these. They are so perfectly plump and sweet and without a doubt the freshest I've ever eaten. They literally melt in my mouth. I can't wait for next Saturday so I can get the 2 lb. pack. I ordered Fernandez Dates online. The 10 lb Ramadan special. Not because I'm Muslim, but because it SEEMED a good deal. They arrived packed very tightly, VERY! 1st in their own box, almost couldn't get it open, glued so tightly shut everywhere. Then it's Priority shipping box, once again glued so tightly, was very difficult to open. The reason...inside were dates so soft, soppy glutinous I was amazed they hadn't leaked through the boxes (had also been covered in wax paper inside, so that helped). And there was a smell I couldn't put my finger on. I thought, just starting to ferment, that's all. I ate one, it tasted gassy funny (yup, stupid me) I ate another to see if I could place the weird taste and smell. I didn't think dates could go bad. Well I don't know what WAS wrong with these dates but from half an hour later and for another 12 hours I kept having strange heart palpitations, one really scary one in the middle of the night when sleeping. I don't know what was up with these dates, but I threw the whole $60 dollars worth out (price plus shipping!). Ouch, that was a BIG hit to my budget. But I haven't had any palpitations since. Pesticides? Rot? I don't know. I am, absolutely sure it was the dates as nothing else I ate or drank that day was anything different from my usual meals (oatmeal, veggy juice etc). Caveat Emptor!
