The store has the basic staples for Indian and Middle Eastern items. Prices seem kind of high, but they are probably the only store out in the desert that carry these items. Cashier only greeted me at check out. There were other South Asians customers shopping. I'd only come here when I don't feel like driving further to get middle eastern staples. The store is fairly warm..at least the refrigerator and freezer work really well for the items that need to be stored. read more

The grocery has all sorts of different countries foods and spices. The gentleman (maybe owner) at the front register was very kind and chatty. The grocery isnt huge but big enough for dry and frozen food. We will definitely head back when we have time. read more

We moved out here from Culver City, where there was a plethora of Indian Markets. We have missed that for four years. Now we have found the Spice Rack, and can satisfy many of our cravings. Pickles, tea, spices, lentils, rice; and also those peculiarly British things like Branston Pickle and HP Sauce. Prepared foods are all frozen, but they are there. This is the main difference from Culver City, where each market was also a vegetarian heaven. Still, we can get all the makings now and do it ourselves. read more

Incredible international grocery market. It features, Indian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern groceries and spices. You must come here for all of your spices, beans, rice, flavorful treats. They have a small produce section and dairy section. There is an incredible frozen section with ready to eat meals. If you like chai tea, there is a great selection of chai mix, ready to drink, chai spice. The herb selection is amazing! So many of the products are organic, including seasonings, rices and beans. This is one of the largest selections of dal I've ever seen. There is also small kitchen items like pots and pans. There is an incense section. I will be back and can't wait to tell more people about it. The owner is incredibly nice. He has been open for about two years. read more

I love shopping here. The owner, Suki, is very helpful. He recommended a few items, which we bought and went home and cooked. It took 10 minutes or so to make and we had restaurant quality Indian food. (see pictures). It was delicious! The entire dinner for 2 was less than $15. I highly recommend this store. read more

LOVE this gem of an Indian grocery store in the desert! The store is stocked with all the items you'd need no matter if you are an Indian home cook or just someone looking to explore a little taste of South Asia. Being from the SF Bay Area we are spoiled with our ethnic food shopping options and variety so I was initially unsure about whether Spice Rack would have the breadth of products that I've grown accustomed to. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of both dried foods, spices, canned chutneys and pickles, and frozen foods that the store carries, and all the top quality brands. On top of that the owner is super friendly and helpful, always willing to give suggestions when choosing between products and brands. I have been to countless Indian spice shops and grocery stores in San Francisco, Fremont, Berkeley in the Bay Area and in Denver and Los Angeles. Spice Rack is in its own class. I have never seen such a carefully curated collection of all kinds of Indian goods. As a former restaurant owner and distributor or Indian foods to speciality stores, and a caterer, I am used to the ubiquitous overpoweringly crowded and spice flavoured shops that have been around for a while. Mostly open for decades. New ones in the Bay Area too end up the same way. They remind me of the grocery stores I go to in Delhi and Bombay. Aesthetics are not the highest priority. Cramming products for sale is definitely on top of the agenda. And that is how a successful business owner can make a profit and survive. However Spice Rack is different. Feels like a state of the art store. Wide aisles. Neatly packaged products both organic and commercial are arranged in an organized way so it is easy to pick up Dal (lentils), rice, flour and whole and ground spices. They have a fairly well stocked refrigerator with a good variety of frozen goods. In the front they have a collection of Indian sweets that are made by a well known professional "Mithai" maker (expert in sweets) from Los Angeles. I was in a bit of a hurry but still lingered in the aisles looking for my favourite "achaar" (pickle) and was not disappointed when I asked for fresh curry leaves and yes, they had some!! Yay! Sukhi and Jyoti are the owners and operators of this store that is the first of its kind in the Palm Springs area. I was resigned to having to drive to Redlands or Los Angeles to get my Indian supplies for the foreseeable future but finally I don't need to anymore. The quality, top brands and affordable prices make Spice Rack a unique and welcome addition to the Palm Springs, Cathedral City area. It is conveniently located across from Target on Hwy 111. I will be going there often and wish them all the luck and good fortune for being pioneers because they have taken on being the first one in this line of retail business. Such effort requires an entrepreneur mentality and vision. Combine these qualities with a desire to procure the highest quality items in a clean, modern and well planned store with plenty of room to grow and viola! you have Spice Rack. Tucked away in the Canyon Plaza Shopping Center like a beacon in the desert, the first international market featuring South Asian products has finally come to Cathedral City ... and it's perfect! Whether you're restocking an entire Indian kitchen/pantry, or you just crave chicken curry and want a jar of simmering sauce, you are in luck, friends. They simply have everything: case upon case of frozen breads (like naan, chapati, roti), vegetables (including bindi and hot peppers), and entrees; rows of dried lentils, rice and specialty grains; jars and jars and jars of sauces and condiments (lime pickle, anyone?); and fresh produce (including curry leaves!). There's even a nod to colonialism with a respectable selection of British imports like the good Cadbury bars. Also, the folks staffing (and owning?) the shop are so friendly. I asked a lot of questions, and they were very patient and helpful. Stopped in a week or so ago. Staff was putting an order away and seemed to overlook I was even there. Prices are high and many items available at other places for the same price or less. Upon leaving someone finally acknowledged me but not impressed by their selectiveness on who they greeted. For the record, I'm pretty familiar with Indian Cuisine and was hoping this would save me a trip to Riverside for necessities when making food at home. In a pinch it might work but they could be a little nicer to new customers. read more

This is a well stocked store and has everything one needs to make Indian dishes as well as selection of Cadbury chocolate from the UK. They have naan in the refrigerators that you can cook very fast at home. I spread butter on them after cooking nad it was scrumptious. The store is very clean and appealing place to shop. read more

Have shopped there about 4 times and went in and used a credit/debit card to purchase and was hit by a .25 cent charge to use my debit, they didn't charge the first three times before. It's unfortunate and I will not be back as our local Asian stores basically offer the same products. For .25 cents they lost a repeat customer. read more
