Another update from a regular customer. The grocery scheme in Annapolis has changed a little…read more Shoppers Food Warehouse is closed. An Aldi and a Lidl are coming but still at least a year away. Giant continues to be our regular shopping place. A little Fresh Market, monthly at Sam's Club, and the odd stop at Grauls. Giant continues as it has. Good selection of food. Clean. Generally but not always perfect customer service. The signs out front have pretty well solved the problem of rude, entitled people parking in the pick-up zone. Giant Food on Bay Ridge Rd is our regular grocery and we're happy about that. We've been long time users of the "membership" program. These keep track of what you buy and send you special offers. In return for data harvesting *sigh* you get better pricing on some items. In addition you can load electronic coupons on your account from the Giant website. Fifteen minutes a week saves us a good bit of money. Further, you accumulate points that save money on gas at nearby Shell gas stations. We regularly save 0.30 per gallon and sometimes 0.40 per gallon. This really adds up. Between lower prices, coupons, and gas a little information about how much broccoli I buy. We shop around. We keep returning to the Bay Ridge Rd Giant Food.

The first time I caught it and cashier corrected it; the second time I did not catch it til I got home. Be careful when you check out, so you won't be overcharged. I'm concerned this is a pattern for this store.

WOW! How have I not known about this place? No, it's not in the best part of town, and it's on…read morethe back side of a strip mall, so if you don't know it's there you might miss it. And honestly, we were looking for "Anita's Spanish Grocery", which I'm still not sure if it's this place or not, just under a different name (the address is listed as 1900 Fairfax, and there's a sign in the parking lot for it, but I never saw a store with this name on it). But either way, I'm glad we found this place. I had just finished a less than satisfactory dinner with a date (check out my review for Mexican Cafe), and they had a hot sauce that he just loved that the server told him he could find at this place, so we went off in search of it. And we found it, and so much more! The butcher shop in the back has all kinds of fresh meats and seafood, including fresh chorizo (yum!). Lots of fresh produce, tortillas, cheeses, sauces...you name it, it's here. And the prices are very reasonable, lower than what you'd find in most large supermarkets. We were fortunate enough to run into a gentleman who was doing some shopping who said he's a chef at a local restaurant, and he made some great suggestions (thanks Luis!) I will definitely be going back to this place any time I'm in the mood to make some good Mexican food.

They also sell fresh plátanos, bulk bags of arroz, a large selection of frijoles, fresh meats, as well as all of the spices and other necessities (Sazón y Adobo) for cooking my favorite Spanish (mostly Puerto Rican) meals. I love this market and visit it frequently!

They're a weird 3rd space presence of rude unpleasant bulky obstacles with excessively large carts that linger and block the aisles making it challenging and frustrating to access groceries and move about store. And they act like you are in THEIR way. If modern life wasn't already impersonal enough, they make the grocery shopping experience even more impersonal. They are rude, always have a mean unhappy RBF expression. They have a rushed urgency about them that makes the store feel hectic. It's obvious they don't want to be there. They don't want to talk to you. They're not technically employees that you can ask questions. They park their cart blocking groceries and its not obvious who's huge cart that is to ask them to move. They just bring a negative funk to the whole place. And to top it off most of them are likely not people who would regularly shop at Whole Foods. Amazon has introduced a whole other socioeconomic demographic of non-customers/non-employees present in the store changing the atmosphere overnight. I'd wager there are as many Amazon shoppers as regular customers they are the majority in the store. Its a take over! the store is unwelcoming to regular customers. I am absolutely tired of dodging these mean unhappy non-employee non-customers interfering with my ability to get groceries. Final straw, I'm done with whole foods
