Long-expired refrigerated pasta peal bought on 6 December.

New to the Highland Beach area, I had gotten spoiled from Harris Teeter at my previous location. As far as Giants go, this one is pretty rundown and has a rather limited selection. Tonight I went to pick up an easy dinner to make for my family, only to come home and see that the "use by date" on the refrigerated pasta meal was five weeks ago.

I am really pleased with the latest updates at our Giant grocery store. They have updated the lighting, the shelving and the cash registers for self check out have been updated with the new arrangement. There's never really a line and there's more cashiers here each time I've gone in the past two weeks. This Giant now has a cleaner look and organized much better than before. Even the seafood department is looking great and not smelling like stinky seafood. I used to try to avoid this store but now I'm actually changing my shopping habits to go here more often, mostly because of the cash register situation it is easier to get in and out. I wish they had more small shopping carts but unfortunately people seem to steal, or borrow, them and push them into the neighborhood next-door. I know the shopping carts are very expensive so hopefully they come up with a remedy for that!

Great vegan and organic sections. Well organized and stocked! Only 4/5 because they're only out of fresh basil

It's so clean and spacious! I've found that Trader Joe's takes time to keep their stores well stocked and organized, and this location stands true. I was limited on time, but I picked up some favorite treats and some new recommendations, too. Looking forward to trying the Authentic Lemon Curd, Coconut Cashew Candy Clusters, and the Strawberry Brioche Style Liege Waffles! I've heard great reviews! I was also thrilled to see the 8 gal. lavender purple insulted bag, and not only the regional Maryland state reusable bag, but also the regional Delaware state reusable bag to add to my TJ bag collection! Score! My cashier (W, Jordan per my receipt) was a friendly young man who was helpful in pointing out the 'Diamond State' Delaware reusable bag when I told him I wanted to also purchase a couple of bags with my treats. I like how TJ's offers the reusable bag for adjacent states. Perfect for collectors like myself. I'm grateful to my cashier for taking time to properly bag my new treats. Thank you, Trader Joe's for employing thoughtful, knowledgeable, and helpful staff.

And honestly, we were looking for "Anita's Spanish Grocery", which I'm still not sure if it's this place or not, just under a different name (the address is listed as 1900 Fairfax, and there's a sign in the parking lot for it, but I never saw a store with this name on it). But either way, I'm glad we found this place. I had just finished a less than satisfactory dinner with a date (check out my review for Mexican Cafe), and they had a hot sauce that he just loved that the server told him he could find at this place, so we went off in search of it. And we found it, and so much more! The butcher shop in the back has all kinds of fresh meats and seafood, including fresh chorizo (yum!). Lots of fresh produce, tortillas, cheeses, sauces...you name it, it's here. And the prices are very reasonable, lower than what you'd find in most large supermarkets. We were fortunate enough to run into a gentleman who was doing some shopping who said he's a chef at a local restaurant, and he made some great suggestions (thanks Luis!) I will definitely be going back to this place any time I'm in the mood to make some good Mexican food.

You can find dry goods, fresh produce, burger counters, deli, prepared foods from fresh donuts (the best apple, blueberry and peach fritters ever), to pretzel logs, fried chicken, barbecue, to smoothies and frappes. Not to mention the insane bakery section in the middle of the store with fresh bread, pies, cakes, muffins, bagels, even gluten free baked goods as well. It's a fun place to spend a bunch of time just perusing all they have to offer. It's busy and noisy and the lines can be long, so just be ready for that. When his cart arrived below it fell over, thus causing him to fall on top of the cart. Because there is no way for a customer to stop the escalator at the bottom, the woman directly behind him and her cart fell on top of my husband! We all yelled "help" to stop the stairs. While employees did come to our assistance--and fortunately no one was injured--I discovered upon returning to the store the following: Tostop the escalator if there is a mishap, an employee (if they are within earshot) can come down the stairs and turn a key. When I expressed my dismay to the manager, Cynthia, I was told me there was "nothing she could do about it" and "no one got hurt anyway". Her attitude was dismissive and almost argumentative. I replied I wanted to speak with her directly to put better safety standards in place, rather than post on social media. She replied, "People can post whatever they want." I do not believe this level of customer service is anywhere near acceptable. The escalator is a potential danger. Escalators that carry groceries only (such as those in Target) are far safer. Had the Whole Foods escalator been full, many people--including seniors and children--could have been injured. This is a safety hazard that management should address with concern and empathy--not just dismiss.
