Every question we asked was met with irritation and condescending answers. We are from Virginia and have no idea what the nuances are of this river are and what the kayaking experience entails. Just some kind instruction would have been nice. Beyond the service that was horrible....the river is beautiful once you go about a mile and get past all the rickety, barely standing houses and docks. Be prepared to paddle up stream against a fairly strong current. It's a paddle up, turn-around, paddle back trip. The paddle back is great; a nice reprieve after paddling up stream for a couple of miles and hours. We saw fish but no other wildlife. I wish we had done our homework and used a different outfit to rent our kayaks. We saw these cute little motorized rafts for rent that would have been perfect.

They provide you with wet suits and snorkeling equipment. They also offer tea, hot coco and coffee to warm you up after your swim. Once you get there, there are several places they will stop at. The first place we stopped at was around 8-9 feet deep and then we stopped at another place near the spring which was around 4ft deep. Now I am not a strong swimmer at all and was a little tentative about going in but they were able to provide me with a life vest and a floaty which enabled me to participate. The staff was extremely helpful in locating manatees as well as taking photos. The wife took a bunch of photos, and once we got back we were pleasantly surprised that the majority of the photos were really well taken. Again, DO NOT miss out on this. They charged $40 per person, and we gave them a tip. the overall experience was amazing. We saw roughly 7-10 different manatees. The wife said that during the winter months there are hundreds of manatees to interact with, so if you can plan accordingly she recommended it. It was a breath taking experience and a must do. Enjoy and have fun.

There were three of us, and I'm not the best fisherman in the world. But even I was able to catch 4-5 beautiful trout. We ended up moving after we caught over 20 of them. Then, onto catching red fish. Man, I didn't know what hit us. I swear that fish almost pulled me into the water with it, but Tommy kept encouraging me to keep my tip up and keep reeling in the fish. I caught three of them in nothing flat. One got away though because I let it get into the rocks--all very exciting stuff. We got six red fish in nothing flat. Tommy kept us going and after we were done, we had the biggest mess of fish I'd ever caught. He cleaned them up for us and we had fish three ways that night for dinner. There is nothing like fresh fish from the water to the table. I totally recommend going fishing with Tommy. Oh, did I mention I'm a 63 year old woman, so not the strongest person when it comes to fishing, but I had the time of my life. And I didn't feel out of place at all. Tommy taught me what I needed to know and then let me do it.

Instead, we were refused completely. What made the situation even worse was that there were six of us (three couples), and each couple was given a different explanation for why we couldn't go. The stories kept changing, making it feel like the staff were simply making up excuses instead of being honest. Good customer service isn't about never having problems--it's about how you treat people when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, this place chose excuses over professionalism. We wasted our time driving there, made plans around this activity, and left feeling frustrated and disrespected. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this business.

We walked past every booth, exploring what each one served, foods, trinkets, T shirts and other hand made craft items. We settled on grouper sandwiches from burger boyz, a Hispanic twist on some of the worst foods we've ever eaten. I just wanted clam strips. (You usually get a good sized portion) not this place! 2 huge scoops of nasty, cold rice with very little flavor and it was a bit mushy. Then a tiny cup , half filled with soured coleslaw. Just a handful of small clam strips. When I say small, I mean half the size of a normal clam strips. They were ok. $10.00 for a very watered down lemonade. The food and drink cost close to $40.00!!!! Lousy food, lousy service! Now the funnel cake was from a food truck called, A fork in the road. THEY are the only reason for 2 stars. The funnel cake was fried to a golden brown and loaded with powdered sugar. Very delicious. Their price $10.00, reasonable for how thick and large the funnel cake was. The 2 young men serving were pleasant and eagerly smiled as they held up their masterpiece. There were tents set up with tables and chairs. But, there were no lights so we had to eat in the dark. There was a band playing. They were pretty good, playing rock and roll. To be honest with anyone reading this review, we will not go back to one of these seafood festivals. The food was terrible, the service was bad and the prices were ridiculously stupid! Definitely not worth the money. By the time we made it home, none of us were feeling good. We were bloated, a bit nauseated too. Sorry to say, but this was the worst seafood festival we've ever been to.

Dencil Senior had a true love for fishing, but nothing at all to compare with the Captain's Love for the sport called Fishing! Fishing is Captain Dencil's Life! Locally oxbow lake "False River" was created many, many years ago when the Mississippi River changed course, leaving the several miles long lake. False River was known to produce good catches of large mouth bass, but I had a camp there, fished regularly and never hauled a catch home that was worth bragging about. While I fish a lot, I don't usually fish for bass and really don't know how to do it. I tear up the catfish and bream. Have racked in the white perch more than once. A friend from Colorada called, said he was coming to visit and wanted to catch all those big large mouth bass he had been reading about and seeing TV shows about. Well I knew I couldn't put him on them, so I hired Captain Dencil to guide him. We all left the dock at daylight with fog and low visibility in the Captain's boat flying across the water. I was worried we could hit something when suddenly the Captain cut the motor and whipped the boat around, saying "Did you see that, throw right over there". I didn't see anything! My friend casted towards the spot and the fish came out of the water getting the cast before it even hit the water. I have been a Believer of Captain Dencil ever since. Well. the live box and ice chest filled up during the day. A catch we were proud to brag about. My friend from the Rocky Mountains was totally Impressed!! As was I !!!
