When I came to DC, the last thing I expected to find was a legit fantastic taco place. I didn't discover this place until my last day, but it was so good at breakfast, I came back for dinner and it was just as good. Can't wait to come back to DC so I can eat here again!

Quick | Options | Burrito Quick - I showed up at 8:30 PM on a Tuesday because I was in town for a conference. From the time I arrived at the kiosk to when I received my food was 6 minutes total. Therefore, the process of selecting and acquiring food was simple and efficient. Options - There were many meal types, condiments, and add-ons. Overall, I was very impressed with the different remixes I could make on all the meals. It was more than "the other Hispanic" chain restaurant with made to order meals. Burrito - I had the Chicken Burrito with corn, lettuce, home fries (potatoes), medium salsa, and corn. It was delicious. Definitely, top 3 Burrito I've ever had. When you consider the price point - it was great value for how full I was. Pro Tip: There is not a lot of parking, so be sure to leave time if you plan to dine in. Pro Tip: Do not dine in - the restaurant is not well suited for you to enjoy a meal inside. It is best set up for a "grab and go" spot.

I get my burrito. I'm happy to eat this. I'm hungry. I've been walking all day. I sit down get my burrito. Take a bite out of it. First bite second bite third bite fucking cluster bomb of rice. I have never eaten so much rice in one time it felt like I was eating Chinese food instead of a burrito about halfway through the burrito, I decided I'm gonna stop eating like a burrito. I opened it up and grabbed a fork and it was fine from there. it deserves the three stars as on the logo. still better than Primo's. I recommend here over there anytime

Salad w/ chorizo and grilled chicken. Side of quac. Very good. Excellent service.

First time so it took me a minute to figure out it's kiosk order only. Not a big deal. I'm a gringo so I'll keep it simple Romaine salad with grilled chicken and sausage Jefe style with a side of guac. Add in a fountain drink and I had a very filling and flavorful lunch for $21. Would definitely bring my wife and kids. Fans of Chipotle...I used to be. This was better IMHO. Worth a stop.

(Full disclaimer: As someone who came from LA, Washington D.C. can't really compare to LA or San Diego when Southern California has the best Mexican food hands down. So I'm somewhat seemingly overcritical when it comes to reviewing Mexican food). I digress. Here's my review anyway: I came here on a Thursday after work and it was okay. I wasn't overly thrilled or disappointed. It was meh. District Taco is a mini-chain to my knowledge and so, like many other chain restaurants (like Chipotle or Qdoba), it's average. The food is comparable to Qdoba, and the portions are fair. I ordered a Desnudo with Steak and it came out fairly quick. Because I didn't have high expectations, I wasn't really disappointed at the fact that the flavor was pretty bland and the steak was a bit dry. On the bright side, there's a small island bar where you can grab all your fixins--additional cilantro, salsas, lemon, etc. This location on M street was conveniently close to work so for convenience, I give it a 5/5. The inside is also kept pretty clean and the staff are friendly. Overall, I'm happy with the service, but would probably still choose Chipotle over District Taco.

Decently sized and tasty take out for taco Tuesday! :)

The hosts and our server were all fantastically gracious and friendly. Plus, the food was spectacular! The restaurant also housed the Roja Jazz Lounge in the basement, which we were hoping to find a seat at after our meal in order to enjoy a nightcap. Keeping that goal in mind, I skipped having a beverage with my meal. Instead, I went immediately to my entree of a whole, butterflied branzino. One half of the fish was coated with green adobo chili, while the other was sprinkled with the red version. The fish was topped with a ripe slaw made from citrus and cherry heirloom tomatoes. It was served with a grilled avocado half stuffed with a scoop of corn salsa sitting where the pit had been removed, as well as several flour tortillas if I wanted to make my own wraps. The branzino was moist, flavorful, and uniquely prepared. My companion ordered the short rib tacos, and he absolutely adored the tender meat and grilled vegetables. After we completed our delectable meal, we headed downstairs to the lounge, where we were, thankfully, able to grab two seats at the bar, while a live jazz band performed in the corner. In addition to the small bar counter, there were some chair-less high-top tables and larger, more comfortable lounge seating. Our barstools allowed us the ability to scan their over 100 mezcals and tequilas. The selection was impressive, but their cocktail list was also something of which they should be proud. My Pina Punch included Del Maguey Puebla Coconut Fat-Washed Mezcal, a ginger-mint syrup, lime, and pineapple soda. It was served in a glass that resembled a whole pineapple. The drink was sweet, refreshing, and offered a slight kick from the ginger. It was a combination of many items that I adored, so I was happy! The beautiful d'Leña really evangelized its namesake, "leña," which translated to "firewood", in its rustic decor, wood-fired food preparations, and smoky agave beverages. They managed to stand by that theme and execute it all with class, making it truly worth your visit.

This isn't your typical Mexican restaurant as their Mexican dishes are added with an extra hint of pizaz. Crab Guacamole (5/5): The portion does look small, but it was packed with flavor. It's mixed with powerful flavor. Churros (5/5); Crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside as it was perfect. The ice in the middles was perfect as a refresher. It also comes with a caramel dipping sauce. I definitely recommend this place for a night out.

Order this medium-rare, sometimes they overcook it if it's really packed. Their tacos are really good, and most are priced $7 each so you can pick and choose. Fish taco was my favorite out of the bunch. I also liked their chicken enchiladas. Cocktail menu is pretty good but their signature margarita drink is a must. We recently tried their Baja Gin&Tonic. Within 5 minutes another couple was seated at a table next to us (table tops about 12" apart). It had the feeling of eating at a table with strangers. With all the space in the restaurant, why not spread guests out? It was very difficult to have a conversation without feeling that you were sharing content with the neighbors. Additionally, when the waiter served the table next to us his butt was literally an inch or two from my face. Very hard to enjoy a meal when someone's rear is in your face. I simply stopped eating and leaned away. Food came. Tamal Rojo and a chicken taco. Both were rather bland. Asked for Tabasco - didn't have any. Brought house made habanero sauce which helped a lot. Our waitress was sweet and did a good job but just couldn't overcome the environment. In all we were eager to try it out - but quite disappointed in leaving. I can't imagine coming back.

Also it comes with soft tortillas but we asked for chips as well. Decent flavor but not something we would order again. All the tacos are good. The vegetable ones were really delicious and so glad I tried them. I'd definitely order them again. Can't go wrong with a carne asada taco either! Two tacos per order. We also had a side of sweet potato fries as a side. Service was okay. We were the end table and things moved at a very relaxing pace. Ordered the Lunch Prix Fixe, $27 for 3 courses. Plenty of food -- I won't be having dinner today. Started with sparkling water, San Pellegrino -- was an extra cost of course. Provided in a red wine glass with a lime. Very elegant, I might add. They threw a tiny bowl of corn nuts as a snackie snack. Starter course, I ordered the ceviche chipotle. Because I came with sweet potato. Ceviche came with a very generous portion swai fish and shrimp. Deliciously prepared, the sauce was amazing. A little on the too much red onion side, but that's to be expected of a ceviche dish. I was full after just the first course, but I pressed on. Second course, I ordered chaufa de mariscos. Seafood fried rice. Delicious rice as shrimp. The squid and calamari were a bit too over cooked and rubbery for my liking. Sadly not too much seafood in this dish. Still delicious and delightful. Third course, dessert, I ordered the arroz con leche cheesecake. For those with a very sweet tooth -- this is your jam. Small portion but packed lots of flavor. Dulce de leche drizzle all over. I enjoyed every bite. Overall, great experience. Will do the fixed price Lunch Prix Fixe again. Pisco and Nasca dining is a great hit every time - thoroughly recommend. Cheers! -gabe

We arrived on time and was greeted by the hostess and opted to sit outside since the upstairs was closed. The lime and mango combination swirl was delicious...we ordered a pitcher and it was plenty for us 3 gals. The seafood quesadillas was seasoned very well. Full of flavor...I enjoyed these with a garden salad minus the feta cheese and corn. My salad was fresh and the house dressing was perfectly distributed throughout my salad. My girl friends enjoyed their meals as well. When she first said the name, I actually thought it was a some short of shopping plaza and never would have associated it as a Mexican restaurant. I'm not sure it's history, but seems like a staple in the neighborhood as every time I drive by since that conversation with her, I notice how packed and busy it is. I recommended to my friends who were in town that we check it out and we were able to get seated outside relatively quickly for a Saturday evening. Our table started with their drinks. Half of us got the pina colada and the other half had the margarita swirl. I'd say the pina coloda was pretty good; not too strong and the ones who ordered the margarita seemed to enjoy it. We all had eaten before arriving, so we didn't order too much. They also served complimentary tortilla chips with salsa so that was pretty good and gave us something to nibble on. I ended up getting the shrimp tacos and their tortilla soup. The shrimp tacos were good, but the tortilla soup was the highlight for me. It was very flavorful, and full of vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and corn. It also had shredded chicken and cheese in it, and was so delicious. I would definitely order it again. Our server was also very friendly and regularly checked in on us. The reason for one star off is just due to the cleanliness of the cups and plates on our table. I noticed food residue still on it, and although I personally didn't use the cup or plate, I didn't care to see it on the table.
