This is a very cute and quaint restaurant located in the Avalon. My mother and I had been shopping and wanted something to eat. We initially went to another restaurant with an hour wait. Let's just say, I'm glad we didn't wait. We were sat immediately and the bartender was also our server. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted and given menus, which is always nice. It was happy hour so I got a drink that I unfortunately do not remember the name of but it was fruity and delicious. We ordered an appetizer of pork and shrimp egg rolls. They were so fresh. The wonton wrapper was perfectly crisp and seemed like it was made by hand in the back. The veggies in the egg roll were crisp and fresh. It was so so good. For my entree, I ordered the crab fried rice. It came with 2 crab claws that were a decent size and full of meat. It was full of veggies and real crab meat. I thought I would need something else but I was given a very healthy portion. I ended up taking some home. My mom ordered the pho which was also so so good. Didn't really expect much from this place since I live close to Buford Hwy, where there are a lot of good Vietnamese restaurants. But I was impressed with their food and decor. They are located in Avalon and not your typical Viet resto. A bit upscale but reasonable prices. We ordered the spring roll and mango and shrimp salad for appetizers. Both were good. Particularly, the salad. It was very fresh and refreshing. We ordered the stir fry lemongrass beef, clay pot combo and porkchop. Everything was really good and flavorful. They do not serve desserts here and they were kind enough to let us bring a cake to celebrate my aunt's bday. Service here is good. They were attentive and checked on us if we needed anything. The interior is a bit smaller than other restaurants, but very pretty- big windows, cool light fixtures, and fresh flowers on each table. The menu offers a variety of pho bowls, noodle dishes, and seafood dishes. I'm boring and went with the chicken pho. It was really good (flavorful broth, and the chicken was cut up smaller than I've had at other places, which was nice!), and the portion size was large (enough leftovers for lunch the next day). $12 is a little pricey for a bowl of pho, but cheaper than what you typically pay for a meal elsewhere at Avalon. I have been to District III several times and have enjoyed our meals immensely. The Tofu egg rolls are in the Vietnamese style, meaning they are utterly delicious and they have some of the higher end entrees such as clay pot chicken and Shaking Beef that you don't usually see in the 'pho' places. It's nice to have a Vietnamese restaurant without having to go into Duluth or near Buford Highway. We have tried a lot of the restaurants in Avalon and we have our favorites. I can safely say that I will be returning to District III because the food is pretty good, however, I didn't give it 5 stars because of the service. The server who served our table seemed to be focused on something else or someone else besides our table. While taking our order, she seems distracted and I had to make sure she heard what we wanted. Our waters were never refilled until we asked for it, and even then, it was hard to find where our server was. Hopefully next time when we return, the service will be a bit better because the food is good =) read more

I was excited to finally see this place open up! My bartender was very kind and assisted me pleasantly the entire way through! I started with the Shrimp Spring Roll with mixed greens, mint & cilantro and they were very fresh! 2 rolls cut into 4 pieces. Also came with a tasty peanut sauce that I want to lick the ramekin afterwords because it was so good! For my main course I decided to try their Pho Combo with rare beef, briskets, and meatball. It came with a side of Pho noodles, basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños and limes. Super great Pho and one of the best I've tried in the USA! We stopped in for lunch on a Friday, somewhat on a whim, having seen them in the Hot and New on Yelp as part of the most recent side of Avalon. The space is beautiful and calm with pale blue walls and mismatched wood grain floors and tables. At least for our lunch, it felt like a retreat from the hustle of construction and crowds outside. The offerings are what you'd expect of Vietnamese, with Avalon price tags. We started with the shrimp spring rolls, as basil rolls have become the way that we judge our lunch spots of this flavor. It's 2 rolls for $7. They're big and tasty, full of fresh veggies, noodles, and shrimp, with tasty sauce for spooning on top (since you don't want to double dip, but you do want lots of sauce). I got the combination pho (rare beef, brisket, and meatballs) for $13. The meatballs were a little too dense, but the tender steak was good. Not worth the extra for the combination meats, imho. The broth had more flavor that most of the pho in the area, and there was a good serving of aromatics on the side. I look forward to trying the vegetarian or chicken pho. It's the best pho that I've found in Alpharetta, so if you're in the area, the price and hassle of parking may be worth it. read more

I m used to eat cheap Vietnamese food in Duluth, I was kind hesitated to go here. The price of pho almost double, hell maybe even triple lol. After all they are in the new section of Avalon. Yep it is a beautiful place to walk around pretending to be rich. Back to food, we ordered shaking beef, it sure shake the hack out of your palette. The moment you bite on that beef, bammmmmmmmm the flavors just bust out in your mouth. Yum yum yum, I called that a Triple Y. Second dish is the rice noodle salad, I forgot the correct name, but it is a great salad with some rice noodles. No it doesn't tastes blend like salad from whole food or some fancy fine dining restaurant talking about it is organic ha. I don't recall seeing Vietnamese beer, but Sapporo will do the justice! Worse experience ever!! My husband and I love pho, and it was our first time going District III. When we got our bill, we realized the bill was higher, so I addressed the issue politely, and the server said it's because she gave us the old menu.. the thing is.. even the menu outside has the same price as the old menu..so we were like okay, that's fine, and then she took the bill. After we addressed the issue, the server put automatic 20% charge for the tip on our bill. I'm totally okay with automatic tip charge, but I feel like the server intentionally did it and thinking we are not going to tip her??? She even changed the receipt.....what a scam!!!!!! This is by far the best Vietnamese food I've had; and I speak as someone who's lived in DC, where the Vietnamese restaurants are always within a stone's throw of every corner. The owner's name is Pete, and he greeted us when we came in. We asked to sit out, where the weather was perfect. When it appeared that a server hadn't approached us quickly, he came out himself with a pad. He clearly cares very much about customer service. He handed it off to a server who was new, but very good. I've never had ph this good. It may have something to do with the broth cooking for 24 hours or the fact that they use the best cuts of beef (filet mignon). You're going to like this place. read more

I was planning on watching a movie at Regal and wanted to eat at Avalon. We decided on District III. I was extremely iffy because I was told that it was not good and because of the price, it's pho. As expected, it was expensive -- $12 for a pho tai. You have no choice in size either. I would honestly say this was a small-medium bowl at best. If I was hungry, I would definitely have to order another dish. Food: Pho tai was good. Soup was flavorful and the meat was great. Portion size was small and they also forgot the meat in my dad's pho. Interior: I loved the interior of the restaurant, well decorated. They also have a bar if you'd like a drink with your food. I felt underdressed. Restaurant seems a bit small, especially for groups. I would definitely call ahead if you're in a large group. Everything was good, but I can't justify spending $12 for pho that I can get for $8 somewhere else. This may be a good place for those who are in Avalon and want to try something new. read more

My sister and I happened upon District III on our afternoon out at Avalon, and we really lucked out. It was the quietest of all the restaurants in the area - maybe because it's at the end of the strip or because they had their doors closed (open your doors!), but we were the only diners during our visit. It was like 4 pm, so kind of an odd time to be eating, I guess, but Vietnamese hit the spot. We shared the shrimp and vegetable rolls as a starter, which came with the best peanut dipping sauce and tasted very fresh. My sister ordered the vegetable pho (swapping chicken for tofu). It was a huge portion - she took home leftovers and fed her and her husband for another meal each! The flavor was okay, but kind of bland. Maybe the flavor would have been richer if it had been a beef pho. I ordered the vermicelli and it was SO good. Rainy days drive me towards two things: coffee and pho. With rain pouring down outside and a broken coffee machine at the office, today seemed like the perfect opportunity to visit District III, which just opened down the street in one of the new phases at the Avalon. Parking - like everywhere in the Avalon - can be tricky and a bit cumbersome. We wound up finding a spot in one of the new decks and were luckily able to avoid most of the rain by cutting through the deck on foot. No reservations required, at least for now. There was only one other table seated at 11:45 on a Tuesday but the restaurant was about halfway full but the time we left. It sounds like a lot of folks had issues during the soft opening but I experienced nothing of the sort; our waiter was prompt and courteous. The food came out as ordered, and fairly quickly. For an appetizer I tried the Grilled Pork Spring Rolls with mixed greens, mint and cilantro ($7) which come four to an order with homemade fish sauce alongside. (They're really just two regular sized spring rolls sliced in half but four people could each get an equal serving out of this app.) Flavor and texture was as expected. Honestly they were good but unremarkable. The fish sauce was definitely the most interesting part of the dish. It had a light aroma and flavor that complemented how delicate the rolls were. For my entree I tried the Pho Combo (rare beef, brisket and meatballs) for $13. The pho comes in just one size and the bowl is a decent portion, definitely enough to fill me up. Unfortunately they're a bit stingy with toppings but it is nice that everyone who orders pho gets their own plate of them. (I'm not a good sharer because I like to pack my pho with as much hoisin and herbs as I can get in there!) The pho itself was totally decent; the meat quality was very good but I thought the broth lacked some depth of flavor. Pho Dai Loi this is not! I agree with other reviewers that pricing is too high. $13 for a bowl of pho is definitely pushing the limit of what I'm willing to pay, and some of the prices for lunch entrees ($20 for Coconut Fried Rice?!) are just too much. This is a nice place but it's not high end enough to warrant a $40 lunch tab. I'd probably venture into some of the vermicelli dishes or perhaps one of the traditional style dishes (shaken beef maybe) if I were to come back, but I feel pretty ambivalent about it for now. read more

We arrived at 8:20 we were ignored and then we asked if we may sit down they told us it was last call. Ok, you close in 40 mins (as listed on google) however their Yelp says 10pm. We ordered, the wrong items were brought to the table. In the meantime they turned away everyone else who came in trying to eat before 8:45. We felt rushed, Annie was rude and clearly didn't want us there. This explains why every other restaurant was busy but there was no one there. Came here on a weekend afternoon and was impressed by their food! There were only a couple of other people here but they have more than enough space for the amount of people that were there. We shared some tofu spring rolls for appetizers and some vegetarian broth on the side which was really flavorful and perfect as an appetizer. My friend is vegetarian and I like to match my friends so I got the lemongrass tofu and it was so good! The tofu had huge pieces and it was saucy but not too saucy. It came with jasmine rice. I also tried their LA corn on the side which was great, but it does come on the cobb. Usually I like my corn off the cob. However, it was still great. I also tried their Vietnamese iced coffee which was great. I wanted a refill as soon as I finished it :D. They have amazing decor and the server was really nice. A wonderful venue - Great service, extensive menu - being from NOVA , I am a connoisseur of pho so I rate the pho 4 stars though the service was definitely a five- the ambience was very good and the place was Packed! The store was in the Avalon district which is really a happening place and so sleek- a well planned and laid out center with a fabulous five star hotel at the center of Avalon . Families and teens alike strolled the streets despite the chilly temps. The restaurant boasted a tasty coconut mojito and there was a $10 per cocktail happy hour special which appeared to be a substantial savings off the usual prices. Only other drawback was that parking was at a premium and they could absolutely use double the amount of parking in the center where the restaurant lies. This could be a deterrent to people being able To visit the dining and shopping establishments ...... another reason for the four stars..... needs to be able To be easier accessed. Even arriving at 4 pm, parking was a challenge . Overall, I enjoyed the restaurant and it's food and I would recommend it highly - just go early if you plan to park. read more
