I stopped in feeling very excited and left completely disappointed. I am a huge pho fan and have eaten pho at many restaurants over the years, and this was honestly one of the saddest bowls of soup I've ever had. The service was very underwhelming. The gentleman working that day seemed annoyed and acted like he couldn't be bothered. I asked for chili oil and was given the tiniest little container, and he never came back to check on me, ask if I needed more water, more chili oil, or anything at all. Unfortunately, the broth itself was very bland, which made the lack of chili oil even more noticeable. Even the fresh spring rolls were disappointing. They had no basil at all, just shrimp, sprouts, and clear noodles, so they were completely flavorless. The combination of poor service and bland food makes it safe to say that I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone else. When I'm paying $20 or more for a bowl of soup, I expect it to be hearty with a rich, flavorful broth. This was not it. Also, the tables were sticky, GROSS! read more

Just wanted to update my review for Thank You Thursday. Besides the delivery order I had from here last year, I recently got to dine in here for lunch a few weeks back. There was plenty of parking outside, as there usually is, at least during the day. I was greeted immediately by a nice, friendly gentleman and seated and given a menu promptly. There were only a few other diners inside and a few people picking up their lunch orders. The place was cozy and inviting. I ordered the shrimp rolls, fried egg rolls, and grilled pork again (but with rice instead of the vermicelli this time), and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The pork plate was generously portioned as it usually is, so I ended up with leftovers. Overall, the service and food were excellent. The gentleman waiting on me was very attentive and food came out quickly. I would love to return for more food dining in or picking up. Thank you for a wonderful lunch! read more

My husband and I were in the area headed home and saw this place! We were intrigued by the name so we stopped on by! It was super busy! We were immediately seated and given a menu and the hostess was so kind! We were brought waters without asking which was super nice and we quickly knew what we wanted to order. I got shrimp pho, my husband got chicken pho. We split a beef banh mi and split an order of shrimp spring rolls. Everything was fresh and looked amazing and didn't take long for the food to come out. Portions were great. The pho has a very warm and welcoming aroma, and the flavor was perfect. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls was also so delicious. I got a take out order from here and enjoyed it very much. I called in the order and it was ready when I arrived about 15 minutes later. They only have one size for to-go orders and I think you get more. I got home about 15 minutes after pick up and the broth for my pho tai was still hot. Everything as neatly packaged and portioned out. There was a good amount of meat and it wouldn't cook in the broth so I had to heat it up even more in the microwave. There were tons of veggies. I did wish they gave you more hoisin and sriracha though and luckily I had some at home to supplement. After that, it was just like eating the pho at the restaurant. We got two Thai teas with boba which were flavorful but tasted like they had a lot of condensed milk in it. Parking is in a shared parking lot so it was pretty easy to park though we came at an off hour so the restaurant wasn't busy. This is the 2nd time we visited this place, about a year apart, because I want to explore different places of pho in the area. I'm glad the quality is still as good as the first time! We always order combination, and this is so far the only place offers good quality of beef (filet mignon, brisket, flank). Beefs are flavorful and tenderness. Especially their flanks are well balanced, with just the right tenderness. Portion is good. Broth is clear, but not super strong flavored. The only comment would be their sriracha, too sweet and not hot. It's just not the brand I'd preferred. Fried eggrolls always come out hot and crispy. We sat at the spacious enclosed area. The people that work/run this place are nice and very polite. There were 4 people working today, which was more than enough to staff the place for the business it was doing. I stopped in for to-go Banh Mi and salad rolls. My take aways for this review are just on those two items. Banh Mi- The bread was flaky and kinda chewy...but stale by a couple days. Cilantro/cucumber/jalapeño-all fine. Could have used a smidge more Mayo to offset the stale aspect of the bread-but that's just my opinion. The grilled pork was the consistency of partially dehydrated meat, wasn't quite jerky, but well on its way. The sauce had nice flavor-but it wasn't able to offer much moisture to the meat. It's made, then refrigerated and then reheated, until I'm assuming it's gone-which is a tough process to ask pork to go through and not have it be shoe leather after a day or two. The pickled daikon was just that and 2 slivers of carrots. There was no subtle crunch to any of them...and I'm guessing the mixture is easily a month maybe 2 old-which is fine, but it was time for a new batch, because it was boarding on slimy. The fresh/salad Pork rolls- I'm pretty sure the meat used for it was a piece of meat that they put in the Pho...but somehow it just tasted like nothing. It was just boiled pork shavings that didn't taste like pork, or salt, or broth. They also used, what I am pretty sure is bagged commercially shredded lettuce-because the chemical stabilizer that is used for such things is always so overpowering. It even managed to take over the cilantro. Rice noodles/cilantro/sprouts(maybe)-where all fine from what I could see, because I really couldn't taste them over the lettuce. The peanut sauce was good-it's not something I normally eat when I get rolls because I love the freshness of the veggies and the flavor of the shrimp/pork/chicken combo...but I ended up using it to try to even things out a little. It's been a couple of years and when you cut corners to save on costs, you always cut quality and it will show. This business has been around long enough to have their issues worked through and deliver a better consistency in their product. Food: we had Filet Pho and Shrimp rolls. Both were wonderful, yummy rich broth in the Pho, fresh ingredients. Ambiance: small space in a strip mall- standard, no frills. They also have a side area to process to-go orders. Seems like they get a lot of business that way. Service: very friendly waitress/hostess and she was very attentive. Parking: plenty of parking in the strip mall. Value: very reasonably priced. 2 meals and an appetizer for under $40 Only downside was with beverages. We were given two small glasses or room temperature tap water. No ice or no offer of anything else- which felt odd but everything else was fine. We had to ask for soy sauce for our shrimp rolls and she brought us about a tablespoon in a ramekin and we didn't get to ask for more because it got busy and she was the only hostess and waitress. Pho is absolutely delicious and while I'm disappointed they don't include tripe, this is more indicative of Vietnamese food in the area as a whole than just this restaurant. Probably the best pho place in Alpharetta. Service is always great and very fast (which is a plus with kids). The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is plenty of seating. We really enjoy sitting in the sunroom area of the restaurant. As for flavors, the beef pho is pretty authentic tasting. The spring rolls are consistently good. The best part is the prices are very reasonable especially for the area. This is our go-to spot for Vietnamese cravings in the area. They serve the popular items here such as pho, spring rolls/fried egg rolls, bahn mi, rice plates, and noodle dishes .. they also have bubble tea served w milk and Vietnamese coffee. For what it is, it's good enough ! There's only one set price for the pho, and it's a fairly large sized bowl. There's plenty of seating inside for small to large groups. Well, we've found our new go-to pho restaurant. Pho Tastic IS fantastic. Clean, inviting and comfortable. Service is prompt and attentive. We had the shrimp spring rolls as our appetizer. They could have used more kick (we like spicy), but they were fresh and good sized otherwise. We had the shrimp pho and chicken pho. Both were excellent. Just like the spring rolls, everything was fresh and the serving sizes were plentiful. The shrimp and chicken respectively were generous in portion size and everything had a nice presentation. But the best part is the broth. Clear, tasty and you can adjust the spice level up with the what is provided at each table. The pho itself was delicious and is what will have us come back to give the pork and beef a try next time. I enjoyed my dinner at Pho-Tastic Vietnamese Cuisine in Johns Creek/Alpharetta. Simply put, the food and service were good. In this part of metro Atlanta (North Fulton), there aren't many good, authentic Vietnamese restaurants to speak of and I thought this place was solid for the area; hence, my four-star rating. If this restaurant was in/around Gwinnett, Buford Highway, or some spots south of the city, I might be more critical/picky. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if this place is convenient to you, it's certainly worth checking out. I'd come back. Pho-Tastic replaced the short-lived Johns Creek location of Choong Man Chicken (Korean fried chicken) which, sadly, didn't even make it a year. It was a Flying Biscuit (https://bit.ly/3mO8b12) and BB's Bagels (https://bit.ly/2TWxcuQ) before Choong Man. All within a 10-year span. Here's to Pho-Tastic bucking the trend. Inside and out, the restaurant looks great. The space is big, bright, modern, and clean. The atmosphere is casual and the service is sit-down. They've got a bar where they mix milk tea (yep, they've got bubble tea; I didn't try it, but their machine looks legit), two spacious interior dining rooms, and a lovely little patio outside in the back. The patio is fenced-in, beautifully-string-lit, and features umbrella-covered tables. No fans or heat lamps, unfortunately, but still a delightful seating option. The main dining room even has a little waiting area plus a big screen TV. When it comes to pho joints, Pho-Tastic definitely has a nice, above-average space. During our visit, the menu was fairly limited. I suspect it's because the restaurant was still new and it opened in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic (not a whole lot of customers). The food offerings were appetizers like cha gio (egg rolls, $5), goi cuon (spring rolls, $5), and canh ga (chicken wings, $9), banh mi sandwiches (three kinds, $6 each), and six varieties of pho in one size only ($12-13 per bowl). There were four kinds of beef pho along with pho ga (chicken) and pho tom (shrimp). Hopefully, the menu will have grown by the time you read this to include other Vietnamese cuisine like bun (vermicelli). I ordered the following: * C1. Cha Gio - Egg Rolls (2 for $5) - fried, crispy rolls filled with vermicelli, pork, mushroom, carrot, and taro; served with fish sauce * G1. Grilled Pork Banh Mi ($6) - marinated pork with pickled daikon and carrots, mayonnaise, cucumber, jalapeno, and cilantro * P1. Pho Dac Biet - Pho Beef Combo ($13) - filet mignon, flank, brisket, meatballs, onion, cilantro, and rice noodles in a beef broth Overall, I thought everything was delicious. Par for the course with no surprises. Nothing was extraordinary, but everything was satisfying and hit the spot. By Atlanta standards, I think they could have done a better job with the presentation of the egg rolls and banh mi, but taste-wise, everything was A-OK. The egg rolls were temperature hot, crispy, savory, and tasty, especially when dipped in the accompanying fish sauce/carrot mix. The filling was dense, but soft and flavorful. The egg rolls came with some iceberg lettuce topped with some thick-shredded pickled daikon (radish) and carrots. Cold, crisp, and refreshing. Yum. The banh mi was packed with lots of marinated grilled pork - juicy, greasy, and dripping wet. Some pieces were fatty, but most were lean and full of flavor. The marinade was sweet, almost too sweet and sugary, but yummy. I'm not used to dripping-wet banh mis, so the sandwich was relatively messy. However, pretty much all of the flavors were there including a pleasurable kick from the jalapeno. The bread was good quality too, with appetizing consistency; not too hard and toasted, and not mushy/squishy either. A good chew. Like the banh mi, the pho dac biet came packed with plenty of meat. Generous portions. I love pho dac biet and always order it if I see it on the menu because it comes with the greatest variety of meat. Pho-Tastic's pho dac biet didn't come with *everything* I like, such as beef tendon and tripe, but what it did come with was quite adequate and fulfilling. And for a slow night, I was especially impressed with the sides -- the basil, beansprouts, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime were fresh all-around. They also included hoisin sauce in small cups as opposed to squeeze bottles (probably due to COVID-19). I had to ask for Sriracha, which was also served in a sealed cup. Both the noodles and broth were delicious. The noodle texture was fine and the broth was fragrant and complex, but not overpowering. I was happy. We had excellent service from our server, Vy Vu. Finally stopped in after driving past a million times. I love how they've updated the interior since it was a FB. Much more modern. I had a beef bahn mi. At only $6 it was a great value and very tasty. I also had a thai tea. It wasn't as large as one I would get at a tea shop, and I actually liked that better since they are so fattening. Less guilt! Pho is definitely basic. The ratio of herbs/spices/broth is key. Don't overdo one spice/herb or else you throw off the entire flavor profile and that's key, the balanced flavor profile. With Pho-Tastic, I was hoping for something to that extent. It's not that hard to boil beef bones, tendon, tripe, flank, and other beef cuts. Then the right ratio of star anise, coriander seeds, aromatics, and fish sauce. But I digress. I'll start with the basics. It's off States Bridge Rd in front of a Kroger in Johns Creek. It's well lit due to natural sunlight and large windows. The layout is very open and they have a bar for thai and bubble tea which is cool. The service is also great. That's all the good things I have to say. But it's a restaurant which means it's the food. For me, a good Vietnamese place is contingent on their Pho Dac Biet or the combination. I was pretty disappointed since they only offer one size and at $13, was a bit off put because that's pretty expensive since other places I know offer 3 different sizes at their respective prices. Some places even offer a big Large bowl of Pho for $13 instead the size Pho-Tastic which looked like a small or medium at best. The flavor was off as well. Something was off balanced like it erred more from the spices. Like it had more fish sauce or something which made the flavor unbalanced. Photastic is FANTASTIC!! I'm so happy I found this place! This is my second time this week. It was a hot week and I still wanted the Filet Pho soup. The meat was so good, fresh and tender, the soup had a great flavor and they gave me their own chili oil sauce from the back that was divine with the pho. The BBQ pork Bahn mi was divine! This was a non authentic, Americanized Pho that checked all the boxes for being a pho restaurant but that was about it. I got the Pho Dac Biet and it was just okay. The funny thing was, my friend asked if they could have the vermicelli with a combination shrimp and pork, but they said no. They have shrimp, and they have pork, but they can't put them both in the same bowl together. I mean, it's a very common noodle dish to have shrimp and pork. It's like the coffee shop that can only put two shots of espresso in the americano. I know you can do it, but you won't. I had an itch for Pho and this did not scratch it. I had to get Pho again the next day. Save your time and energy, get your Pho elsewhere. read more
