Soup dumplings reminded me of some I had while in NYC ~ will def be ordering from here when I crave them. Scallion pancake was more flakey than what I'm used to and had less scallion than I was expecting but the sauce with it was AMAZING. Sweet sticky rice was pretty good. read more

The dumplings are decent and the people working here seem nice. But it's just overly expensive for dumplings. Two sets cost you a little over $30. Also dining here was a bit depressing... I felt like I traveled back in time to 2020. No real utensils, no plates, sauce in cardboard boats, it was just so unattractive and not customer-friendly. I don't understand how they think they can get away with this type of restaurant-ware in 2025, but it's taking away from their charm in a huge way. I'm not sure if their rent is expensive, but I hope they can move to a new location where they don't have to act so frugal. read more

Loved this location. I've only ever been to the Fairfax one in Mosaic but this one was much bigger and had a family feel to it. Their hallway and walls were lined with family photos and other photos with cultural symbolism. Their chalkboard menu was large with seasonal and monthly specials. You can choose to get your dumplings steamed or pan fried. I did a mix of both in the flavors edamame and teriyaki chicken. Service was quick as it only took about ten minutes. I over ordered for sure as each order came with 10 pieces. Overall, much cleaner and way more aesthetically pleasing than the Fairfax location. Ps- on my way out I noticed that there was a notebook on the bar where guests could leave notes behind. Super sweet touch! read more

4 of us ordered takeout at District Dumplings the other day. We ordered the Bulgogi Beef, Kale, Lemongrass Chicken, Pork & Shrimp, and Soup Dumplings (which all came with 10 dumplings) and we ordered the Peking Duck (6 individual pieces). This was a total of 56 dumplings (if my math is correct... lol). I think this was the perfect amount to fill us up. Our favorites were the Bulgogi and the duck. The soup dumplings were on the dry side (not soupy enough) but everything tasted fresh. The dumplings were steamed and lightly pan seared. After ordering it took about 30 minutes for them to prepare the food and package it up. FYI this place only sells dumplings and drinks... nothing else! So if you're in the mood for a dumplings only meal... you should check this place out! read more

I really enjoy this joint. I ordered their squash dumplings one time and it was so delicious I looked up how to make my own. Talk about inspirational. While I don't think their soup dumplings are the best, they've kind of become a go to snack. They're not horrible, just not very flavorful. If you're going here I'd definitely recommend trying out the regular dumplings. They're 10 for $10 deal is decent and I love how you get to try a variety of the flavors. They do try to distinguish the dumplings by having a different colored dot in the dough but there's no sign to tell you which one is which. I just eat half at a time to determine what's what. That the two people in the shop don't care about the food, service, or anything but their phones is clear. Why did they bother to open this shop to begin with? Then as when Moses had the commandments revealed to him in a flash, we too understood. The owners of the shop hate dumplings..... Not an ordinary hate, like Boston Red Sox fans have for everyone else. The owners of this shop have a white-hot hate for dumplings normally reserved for Nazis and people that put "Hang in there baby!" kitten posters in their work cubicles. The only purpose for the food in this shop is to cure you of any notion that you may want to ever eat a dumpling again. It is their mission, destiny, their raison d'etre given to them by the culinary gods to insure you will forever associate ingesting dumplings with a violent culinary mugging. Like others before them, they too have perfected despair as a form of cuisine. It is a shame because dumplings can be a wonderful and quick snack or meal with just a little bit of care. My wife and I make them at home frequently, so it can be done. The details: 5:30pm, the place was empty. Cashier looked away from her phone long enough to take our order. The menu is a bit confusing for such a simple idea. I order soup dumplings, my wife ordered a selection of different kinds of gyoza style dumplings. 2nd woman then looks up from her phone long enough to put frozen gyozas in a pan to fry and my frozen dumplings into a steamer. Both went back to their phones. As the saying goes, this did not bode well. My wife got back a paper hot dog tray of random gyozas in a pile. Are any of them the ones she ordered? Who knows! The pile was just silently plopped in front of her. My "soup" dumplings came out in a round steamer basket on an tray oddly too narrow for the steamer basket (see photos). Pink slime was oozing out of my soup dumplings. Why? (see pictures). Spoiler Alert: They were all awful. Gummy, leathery, bland. The soup dumplings were dry and shriveled. The food comes from three chest freezers FULL of thousands of frozen dumplings. Clearly nothing is made in house, including the service. For you first time dumpling eaters. I had high expectations but the final product was average and honestly, underwhelming. For $25 we mixed & matched 20 steamed dumplings. We selected the pork & pepper, Peking duck, Buddha's Choice, and beef bulgogi. They were all prepared and steamed to order, takes about 15min - no problem there. The dumpling wrapper was perfectly thin, but made me think they were not handmade. The fillings, of each that we tried, were just lacking that 'wow' factor we were hoping. Missed on overall quality, texture / mouthfeel), spice, umami, moisture content and sauce. We might give it another shot and add some pan-fried options in the next round, but unfortunately I don't think it will be happening anytime soon. read more

I've been looking for delicious dumplings in this area and after visiting this place, I must say my search continues. Pros: + Some of the flavors are pretty amazing such as their Peking Duck one but I am not sure if that is just a limited time flavor for Chinese New Year. This one was $2 per piece so the price is very steep. Sure, it was delicious but I don't think I'd fill up on these for the price. + Lots of different variety of flavors of dumplings. They have pork, chicken, beef and vegetable options. Something for everyone. + $1 per piece for the regular flavors. It's pretty cheap if you want a feast of dumplings for the regular flavors. + Complimentary hot Jasmine tea and cold water. I always appreciate this little feature in any place. + large place so plenty of seating. + decent parking lot in front since it's in a little center with lots of stores and eateries. Cons: + Just overall flavor and taste. I'm just not a huge fan of all the different flavors. Like I said, my favorite of the Peking Duck one but I didn't really enjoy any of the other flavors. I will continue to eat my Trader Joe or Costco dumplings to get my dumpling cravings satisfied while away from my mom's cooking. read more

I like it! Veg friendly=super me like I got the buddha choice which is a veg option containing zucchini, carrots, and mushrooms. The main thing is the dumpling wrapper. I can tell they are hand made because I am a dumpling snob. I can tell when a restaurant just gets some bulk dumplings from the freezer section of a local international mart. I got mine pan fried and the wrapper was so good. It smelled so good on the way home. I care about service a lot.....BUUUUUT a bored cashier isn't going to stop me from going back to get some legit dumpings. Happy tummy can supersede mediocre (not horendous) service. Just left the place and sigh, I was very disappointed. I really wanted to like this place. I loved their original location in the mosaic district and that was the reason we came here. We ordered a variety of dumplings (the pick ten) and an order of the shumai. The skin was nice and thin but every one of the fillings just lacked flavor. All of them lacked salt, which usually isn't that big of a deal because that's what the soy and vinegar sauces was for. However, all of them lacked actual flavor like ginger which helps offset the meat, and green onion and fresh meat taste. The pork, shrimp and chive ones had zero chives and shrimp flavor. The only decent ones was the duck dumplings but at 2 dollars a pop for some oily duck fat and skin, it's not worth it. Finally the main reason for the two stars is that in comparison, the frozen dumplings I buy from the Chinese supermarket (5.99 for a packet of 25) tasted way better than the dumplings that we drove 20 mins for. I partly blame myself cause I knew better than to go to a place without first reading the reviews. Instead I came here based on their name recognition alone. Also I ignored a huge red flag: when we walked into the place at 7pm on a Friday, the place was completely empty except for us. District dumpling, you never should've franchised! read more

Nice decor. Great service. Horrible dumplings. Got a take-out order of their pork&shrimp and bulgogi beef dumplings. They were tough, dry, and nearly flavorless. The wrappers were good: nicely thin, but a bit too chewy. But this is nitpicking compared to the fillings, which were tough, under seasoned, and indistinguishable from one another except the beef were denser and drier than the pork. Not the slightest hint of garlic, ginger, chive or green onion in either dumpling. The beef brought to mind bland, over cooked meatloaf - far from the juicy, smoky & sweet 'bulgogi' beef the menu boasts. I suspect they might have just had a very 'off' night. No restaurant serving what I had would last a week, much less be opening multiple new locations. But I can only review what I ate; and consistency itself is an important factor in a good restaurant. read more

Great addition to Arlington! If I was going to enter an eating contest, I think dumplings would be my food of choice. I've been here a couple of times, but each time I must have had 15+ dumplings. I can't control myself. I have tried a combination of the regular dumplings, soup dumplings, and shumai. They are all tasty, but the shumai are my favorite. The shumai are open face dumplings steamed with rice and various meats and vegetables. They taste like kasha varnishkes that you would get from a jewish deli. I don't think you need too much soy sauce since it is already flavorful. There are many different options here, which is terrific. Whether you want your dumplings filled with chicken, cheese, squash, kale, pork, or whatever, they have it. A cup of edamame is only 50 cents which is also a pretty good deal and a good snack. Although there is some seating here, it is more of a takeout place. There are a few tables, and some stool seating along the wall. If you want your dumplings steamed, it does take a little longer, about 15 to 20 minutes. The only issue I've had here is that they are out of certain dumplings each time. During my first visit, soup dumplings were not available. On my next visit, the vegetable shumai were not available. Not a big deal, but just something of note. I'm sure you have heard of the expression "You are what you eat." Hopefully I don't turn into a dumpling! read more

Each order can either be "fried" or steamed. Well, fried doesn't mean crispy but rather pan fried as it lacks the crunch you might be looking for. Nonetheless, it's still a good choice as it takes about 4 minutes shorter to get it fried than steamed. My favorite is the lemongrass chicken as it tastes great and fresh.
