Tried out this food truck at the street food cinema. Unfortunately this was below the expectations . First of all, they choose to not post prices. I ordered the carne asada fries and the surprise price was $17. Pricy, but actually a bit expected. The next surprise is that these were no carne asada fries. These were chili cheese fries. That was lot what I wanted. It is false advertisement for sure! The only reason for 2 stars is that the fries themselves were warm and cooked well. Other than that, there isn't much good here. This truck was at Claremont Craft Ales on 07/15/23 and we had decided to give them a shot. MAN, I wish I had brought in my own pizza. After grabbing a pint, my friend went out to order us both food. After a few minutes he came to the table and shared that he wasn't able to order. He shared that there was one guy working the grill and he didn't pay the front any attention, even after raising his voice to ask if he could order. I was annoyed, but we were both hungry, mid-beer, so I decided to give it a shot myself. I went to the window and, similar to my friend, the worker did not pay me any mind. I thought, maybe he just couldn't hear/see me from the grill. I had noticed the back door was open, so I walked to the back and asked if I could order. To my surprise, the worker looked directly at me and then looked away. No greeting, no response, NADA. I was upset and walked away. After getting back to the table, I told my friend I wanted to go. Although I still wanted to try other beers, we needed to eat. We looked up other breweries while we finished our beer. As we were doing this, I saw another worker walk up to the truck. I let my friend know and he said he would try one more time. He was successful this time, but then came the food.. I ordered the carne asada fries, while my friend ordered the classic burger. The price for both came to $35...after using a card, $39.50. My jaw dropped when he told me the price and I told him to cancel things. He didn't and we grabbed a flight to calm down because this was all a mess. We get our food and 0/10. The fries had minimal asada and whatever red salsa they put on it completely threw off the flavor of things. I took it all off and ate the fries underneath. My friend thought the burger was okay, but the fries were flavorless. Disappointed was an understatement. The food, the service, the price... 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. The food was great. Shared carne asada fries with my partner... however I am giving 3 stars for the employees giving out a broken buzzer and failing to notify us when our order was ready. We waited over 30 minutes before my partner approached the truck asking if the order was ready while it had been sitting out, cold. They remade the order quickly and handed the fries over in less than 5 minutes. I also noticed they overcharged me, was it because they had to remake the order? Don't remake something if you plan on taking more money from us. I thought I had tipped the right amount... I didn't expect to see more taken from the transaction in my account. read more

Tried out District Burger when it came to the Grand Park "Olive Court" on a weekday at lunch time. Of the 3-4 trucks out, it had the most people around it (maybe 5) and was one I hadn't seen before so I decided to check it out. I was going to go with the normal burger but the "East Los Fries" caught my eye, as I had lived in San Diego for four years and had many many helpings of Carne Asada Fries so wanted to try it out. The fries themselves are pretty ho-hum, neither skinny shoe string, nor thick cut steak fries, just run of the mill, fast-food-esque fries, a little dried and overcooked on top, a little soggy on the bottm. The carne asada looked almost like ground taco meat as opposed to chunks, and didn't have too much flavor, just a bit of texture, and was either a bit gritty or way too chewy. The pico de gallo though was pretty good, with some nice colors and crisp flavor variations to play against the sort of nauseating background of greasy meat and deep-fried potatoes. I appreciated the freshness of the cilantro and the redness of the tomatoes. Lastly, I couldn't really see or taste much of the salsa verde, although if you're going to be selling something like "East Los Fries," it probably would have been nice to have a bit of salsa or hot sauce someplace along with the jug of provided ketchup so we could spice it up as we needed to. As it was, the chipotle aioli was enough of a kick, more salsa verde would've given it a bit more breadth in flavor. Like most Carne Asada Fries, i felt pretty sick of it half way through, though the first two or three forkfuls were pretty tasty. So, all in all, a fairly typical take on carne asada fries that i'd give somewhere between 2 and 3 stars to. Would I have it again? Probably not. Do I particularly regret ordering it? Not particularly. It was just "meh." read more

So this truck was at our school's social and it was a bit of a mess, respectfully. Firstly, we waited over an hour just to order. Then, while ordering, we were told that two of their limited event menu items (five total) were already sold out. Keep in mind they had only been operating for 90 minutes at this point and already two of the five items were unavailable? To me, this is a clear mismanagement of resources and time. Further, it took another 40 minutes after ordering to get our food, which was solid, but not exactly worth the hassle. All that said, I appreciate that there will be a portion of their proceeds given to our school and since they did have a clearly busy line I am hoping that contribution is significant. *fingers crossed* read more

Love this truck! Burgers are great and the people are as well. My mom was visiting LA a few weeks ago and she'd never been to a food truck. We asked for a recommendation for her that wasn't too spicy (cuz we're both wimps in terms of spice). They not only answered our questions and recommended an option but also let us try the sauce to confirm the sweet/spicy of the bbq sauce. Further, they split the meal in half for us (perhaps more doable as it was near the end of lunch hours). It was just an all-around good experience. I happened upon the same truck downtown yesterday and decided to visit again. I mentioned to the gentleman that my mother had really enjoyed the burger. While I wouldn't have been surprised has he not remembered us, he actually recalled her; mentioning the location we were for the visit. I just think that's pretty awesome. Forgot my lunch so I decided to go to the food truck the building provides. Today it was District Burger. I selected the Bel Air burger from their menu. Their description: Truffle garlic aioli, fancy mixed greens, bacon marmalade, tomatoes, saint Andre's triple cream. I wish I had taken a before pic because it was beautiful before I bit into it. Initially I was concerned because they only have 3.5 stars on Yelp, but after pleasing our crowd, I had to write a review because they deserve better. The two burger options they served were big crowd pleasers. Someone wrote a Yelp review saying the District Burger tastes like In and Out, and they are similar in the best way possible. Smelled good. I had the District Classic. The other burgers they had sounded good but for some reason I wasn't in the mood to experiment. It was obviously a take on the In & Out burger but not as good, especially for $8. My friend said his was so under cooked he didn't finish it. Mine didn't feel under cooked but keep in mind that even In & Out patties are a little pink inside unless you ask for well done. 3 stars means it's average, so try it and judge for yourself. I would be interested in trying the Little Tokyo sliders next time. It's marinated shiitake mushrooms but it's not vegetarian because of the unagi sauce (mmm unagi yummy). read more

Overall, these guys were pretty good worth a return trip. On the upside, the burgers were good quality meat, not overly fatty but still juicy and tasty, well prepared. My son and I had the district classic burgers. They would have been $9 each, but we made them doubles for $3 more each. Big filling pile of burger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, and cheese. Only negative was that the onion rings were five bucks, a bit steep. And thry need to post their prices. But they cooked the burgers just right and we are stuffed and satisfied :) read more
