We came here for an after party after a concert last night because my favorite artist was going to be here after she performed at Golden 1 and it was to celebrate the birthdays of one of her dancers and her DJ. Place was dead until she got there. It was kind of small and the music was okay. Nothing spectacular. Nobody was even dancing until she arrived. The crowd was cool but it was expensive to get in for a Tuesday night. Wild. I don't know that I'd come here on my own but I otherwise had a decent time being around my favorite artist. I just got my results from the hospital which I went to after a very scary and confusing night for me after visiting this location. Turns out what I suspected has been confirmed and they found common date rape drugs in my system. I knew to go to the hospital after I suffered short term memory loss after consuming one drink from the bar here. There was no way I had gotten "black out drunk" I know my body very well. I got home by the grace of god and good friends but the way my body was reacting let me know that something foreign was inhabiting my body. I started puking blood and felt loopy. I never want to visit this location or bay bar in the future ever. This place has ruined my perception of the outside world and I don't wish this paranoia on anybody. A Very Polished & Stylish Club Venue SITREP I am a fan of District 30 and the event "The Hollow" which has taken place at this venue both on Sundays and Thursday Nights. SETUP I first came to appreciate this venue because of the wonderful Industrial-EBM DJ-Dance Event "The Hollow". It started out on it's Grand Opening night as a Sunday Night club. CONFLICTS AVERTED FOR SUNDAY NIGHTS But as a preference manifested itself to change the nights and also DJ schedules switched it up, "The Hollow" has become a fixture for Thursday Nights now and that makes me happy, since I did not like it when it ran up against and conflicted with the Sunday Night Gothic-Industrial-EBM night of "Factor IX" @ Midtown Barfly. Peace reigns once again in the music-galaxy (at least for Sundays). KUDOS TO PROMOTERS A big shoutout to Jeremiah, Roxie and Nemmy for bringing a FANTASTIC Gothic-Industrial-EBM Dance event once again to Thursday nights in Sacramento. I have missed the old Biomech days when that event was at the old Cattle Club (where Bislas is now on Folsom Blvd). Thursday nights were a great way to get into the an early weekend, especially if you did not care being a ZOMBIE at work on Friday morning. AWESOME DJs The Thursday night event features DJ Bryan Hawk, who also does Factor IX @ Midtown Barfly on Sunday Nights, and also DJ Davidara, the extremely talented drummer most recently of the Industrial band Savi0r. But I would be remiss if I didn't also give a shoutout to DJs Megz and Dark Star for their Sunday Night run with the club, two outstanding female DJs. THURSDAY DJ LINEUPS Now Thursdays see DJ Davidara as the resident "go-to" DJ and most recently DJ Sir Ritch was partnered up with him. It makes for a fun night. GO GO DANCERS! I love the go-go dancing! There is a wonderful team of GoGo Dancers lead by Serenity, and she has cultivated a wonderful group of individuals, and I must emphasis, both women & men. One of the most recent events was a celebration of the Green Faerie and I had a blast taking pictures for this event. On opening night, it was the Queen of Hearts Ball and the centerpiece of that was a dynamic costume competition. I have pictures on this site of both events. Enjoy! Upon arriving for a fundraiser tonight, the door people informed me that I would not be allowed in unless they scanned my ID through a machine. As we all know, identity theft runs rampant, so I cautiously asked why they needed this information and who would be collecting it. Neither employee could answer my questions, but said, "All the bars are scanning IDs now." No bar has ever scanned my ID before. When I pushed back and asked which bars, they immediately changed their story and said that all bars on K Street. Uh-huh. I offered to let them check my ID, but they said that was not enough. I texted my friend who was already inside, and he said they did not scan his ID. When I asked staff about it, they said it was because they had just gotten the machine up and running. First, if it's that important, then shouldn't you ask the early arrivers to come back out to ensure all IDs are scanned? Second, the venue is closed on Mondays, which means it opened for this special event. The fundraiser started at 6:00 p.m., and the attendees comprised of folks who work in the Capitol, lobbyists, and state employees. Folks came straight from work and were dressed professionally. What did the venue think was going to happen? I left. I have no interest in giving out personal information to an unknown source (it also looked like there was a camera to take your picture as you stood in front of the ID scanner). If the owners are afraid of something happening, then install a metal detector and hire additional security. read more

We went here for New Years yesterday. We waited in a line for almost 45 minutes because we didn't have tickets to the club previously (understandable). What didn't make sense was random people walking into the ticket line WITHOUT tickets and just getting inside, or just walking straight to the front - remember it's about 36 degrees outside and freezing. While waiting in line we asked the woman with brown hair of Asian descent with a brown and white scarf managing the line, what the cover charge was (multiple times from multiple people) being told it was 10$. After 45 minutes you can imagine our reaction when it was a $50.00 cover per person!!! I told the man checking IDs that the woman told us it was 10$ and he asked who so I pointed to her. Her response was an attitude and a straight up lie saying "I never told you it was 10$". Okay so 10 people just made it up?? Now I go on here and it's usually 10$? The man checking IDs and the woman taking the money were very nice though. When we got inside it took about 15 minutes to get a drink (understandable since it's New Years). The bartender was nice guy too and it was 50$ for 3 shots of well tequila, 1 Long Island, and a water. The DJ was okay it was 90% Spanish though which I'm not sure if that was the theme of the night; played like 2/3 songs that were well known. Overall we made the best of it and don't appreciate the rude woman who called all of us a liar pretty much after waiting 45 minutes to get into the bar (mind you I was also sober). Would love to see a response from management or even a refund partially because of this and the fact multiple people cut the line obviously as well. read more

District 30 succeeds where Dive Bar and The Mix have failed. It has the dance floor and seating amenities not available at Dive in addition to the quality customer service so severely lacking at The Mix. If you are in the mood to dress up and dance without being harassed or haggled, District 30 is inarguably the best place to go in Sacramento. The staff is courteous, helpful, and fun. Unlike Mix, you're not going to be yelled at by pompous doormen in Men's Warehouse suits. Additionally, the District crowd is pretty on par with what you'd hope for- aka not the crowd you'd find at Azukar or Splash. The music is great- just think of what you'd hear at a Vegas nightclub. I had my doubts about "Dirty District", but I have to say I was impressed. I'll definitely be back. read more

There is one major bar, several VIP tables that didn't feel bombarded with people, it is actually nice for a change The vibe here is nice, just people looking to have a good time. Love that special spot in front of the speakers where the bass is so strong it'll make any fat girl's rolls dance Weekend Crowd: Typical clubbing patrons. You've got the sexy hoochies, not-sexy-but-think-they-are-sexy hoochies, douchey dudes, ninja booty grinders, sloppy drunks, drunks in la la land, wall flowers.. you know, the normal crowd. Hahah "2nd Sundays" Crowd: TOTAL good move on their part btw. No dress code. Sunday is more relaxed and geared towards those who actually want to chill, drink, and DANCE! You won't see la la land drunks. Oh wait.. but I'm there. Scratch that! Just a good time in general Music: Tends to be a mix of hip hop and house in the earlier hours and more electronic in the latter wee hours. There have been some great guest DJs here. LOVE that the Djs actually have some talent and don't mix the typical crap like at other clubs (no names, but we all know which clubs) Always good times here. I really don't remember district30 being this bad? Just a few years ago we used to go out here & have a good time. This past Saturday night was just weird. First I ordered a margarita & it was straight lemon. The bartender did apologize and remake the drink, but it wasn't any better. I probably would've just chugged it but it was literally giving me heartburn. I think the manager or owner offered me a shot in replace of the drink, and I thought that was really nice. Hence the 3 stars. But just overall the d.j was playing a weird mix, not packed like usual, I don't think this was worth a $10 cover fee. Any experience you have with something such as clubbing is often what you make of it. This isn't a big club by any means, "vip" area is limited. If it is packed you're going to struggle to find space to dance. Eventually you too will realize you're just a big fish in a small pond and just get some more drinks to make the most of it. Or just pregame. I'm mostly just here for the music anyway though haha. The bartenders have typically been cool and talkative the nights I've frequented the place. The bathrooms are also clean which is awesome. There is also quite a bit of parking nearby along with a parking structure so you shouldn't really have any issues there. I adore EDM music so having djs that come out to perform here is actually quite nice. For me, despite the size of the club, it has filled a niche for me in the Sacramento area since driving out to the bay to go see a show can be a hassle after work along with the chaos of traffic. Despite some shortcomings and some inconsistencies, it is one of the only locations I can go for this and some of the djs they get have been amazing. And you get free tickets from time to time? Even better haha. Oh Alexx Adam you gotta come back and spin some more. With that being said, the speakers can be crazy loud. I would suggest having some ear plugs in case if you're going to be there for a number of hours. I always forget... well, I say forget but I'm sure I was just too drunk to remember. Anyway, be prepared. I have walked out of there with only half my hearing on a number of occasions. Bottom line: this club isn't in SF, nor is it LA or NYC. What it does tho is bring in great djs from time to time where you can be within 4 feet of them while they spin. District 30 has invited a lot of great djs to Sacramento, but it is a really small space and its cramped. They need better management and organization of the lines. The lines are always really long and it doesn't even move up much. I went to a concert a few weeks ago at D30 and I got a free ticket (only free until 11). I arrived at 10:20 and waited in line 40 mins and I moved maybe 5 feet. By that time, my ticket expired so I was forced to pay anyway so I decided to book the VIP (Skip the line ticket) so I could just get inside... but I ended up having to move to another line (a shorter line nonetheless, but I still had to wait)! It was very frustrating! Once I got inside, it wasn't terrible, but there were so many people inside that I could barely dance. The reason my rating isn't 1 star is because D30 still brings some popular djs to Sacramento which we haven't really had until recently. read more

I grew up in the Bay Area and for some reason have not been able to find anywhere comparable to the clubs down there in my passed 2 years living in Sacramento. I heard about this place (along with Pizza Rock and Dive Bar) when they opened last year but hadn't had a chance to make an appearance until last Friday. YES!!! I've finally found that place that feels like home! This place was very clean, well decorated for the theme of the night, dj and music were awesome and drink prices were about average for a club like that. Try to get on the guest-list, otherwise cover is $15 on Fridays. We arrived around 10:00pm and the people started to pour in slowly. There isn't really a dress code but the crowd was dressed pretty nice in general. The early crowd seemed to be a little older and mostly female (birthdays and bachelorettes?) I paid $12 for a a vodka-cranberry and vodka-pineapple. At $6 a drink that's your average club drink price; but have you ever seen an almost clear vodka-cranberry or pineapple? Drinks are pretty strong. The nice this about this location is if you get hungry or need a break from the crowd you can head next door to Pizza Rock or Dive Bar then come back to District 30. Once we got inside, it was a solid club. Solid music, friendly bartenders, etc. That being said, one of the bouncers is an abusive bully. I'm talking about the guy with the man bun/beard who kinda looks like CM Punk from WWE. I ran into some friends in the club and apparently another friend wasn't being let in because his "stamp wasn't registering", so I went outside to see what was going on and the second I said hi to my friend this guy grabs me and shoves me out, telling me that I've just been kicked out. I went back up and asked him when I could get back in and if I could speak to his manager. He didn't like the "manager" part one bit and without a word shoved me out into the street. Luckily another employee was there who wouldn't look me in the eye or admit that I was at fault but you could tell that she was embarrassed and gave me a full refund. Why are bouncers these days starting to think that they're above the law? This guy obviously doesn't have the emotional capacity to work somewhere where he has this much power. If you have any disability do not come here. They are not ADA compliant. Went on new years with my girlfriend who had a leg injury(dislocated knee) and they refused to give her a seat unless it was on a speaker or paid for. They laughed when I said it was not ADA compliant. Only after I told them I would lodge a complaint did they try and get a chair for her. Their excuse " it's a night club". Manager never came to speak with us only a meat head security guard. Faces is 100x better. Seriously avoid this place like the plague. New years eve ot even 30 people but we get refused a chair. This is a really shitty bar. Dress code that removes beanies but allows hats and all employes are wearing a beanie. This place had paid dancer sitting around at 11 on their phone they were so empty. I had never been here before and our group decided to go here for New Year's Eve. We were so excited to go in and the girl working the line told us it was a $10 cover charge. We waited about 45 mins to and hour and once we got to the door we were told it was $50 to get in. We were absolutely shocked because we had just been told it was $10 and that is a very steep difference. By this time though we had already waited in line and we wanted to be inside a bar when midnight hit, so we painfully all paid the money and went inside. Went on a Friday night around midnight. Was my first time there. They do charge cover. The interior is nice. Place was not packed but had a decent amount of people. Drinks were STRONG, and bartenders were quick to get the drinks out for the most part. Crowd: Good mix of people from all ages. I'd say mid-20s to mid-30s or so. People weren't snobby or rowdy. Just down to have a good time. Music: Hip hop, top 40s, house. It seemed like half hip-hop and half house. Good sized dance floor so it was easy to find a spot without bumping into people. Bathrooms were also clean and had enough stalls. Not much of a line either to get in, so that was a plus. I'm a fan of this danceclub. I gave this place 1 star only because I couldn't give this place zero stars... This place really f-ed up our New Year experience. where to start... My friends and I reserved a VIP section with bottle service, that never received one bottle. People kept falling over the ropes and knocking our bucket of ice down. While that was going on, we had to fight off people from coming into our section, and almost literally had to fight some people. The DJ was wack. No champagne before or after midnight. Instead of the people that worked there, we had to pull the string for the balloons down... even after that, the balloons still never came down. As we started leaving (around 1), someone brought chasers to our table... more than 2 hours after we got there and again without any actual alcohol or champagne. It was only after we left pissed off that anyone actually ask us how are experience was and actually try to help out... outside of the club. We were in the mood to dance on a Saturday night and this was close to where we wanted to be, so we decided to swing in. There was a $10 cover to get in, but that's not too bad. It's a pretty narrow building, with a small and crowded dance area. They have roped off seating areas and couches that you can use if you bought a bottle (cheapest one was $200), so we skipped out on that. They were playing a lot of older club songs while we were there. Some good throwbacks, but not a lot that put me in the mood to dance the night away. The music was loud. So loud you couldn't think straight and the bass made your whole body vibrate. The drinks were pretty pricey (as is expected), so we limited those. However, the bartenders were fabulous! They were quick to get you drinks, and even threw in a couple small freebies as we were a part of a bachelorette party! They helped make this place better in my opinion. Came here on a Saturday night to reunite with a few friends from LA. Fun atmosphere, but nothing outstanding. The music was great. Played hip hop classics and new. The DJs definitely accommodate the crowd. I do have to compliment the girls that worked the tables. Cute attire. The crowd was very diverse which I appreciated. After all, SAC is one of the most diverse cities in Cali.
