I want to thank the staff at Distinctive Lighting for helping me today. In 2012, we bought all of our lights from Distinctive Lighting when we renovated our home. I was having trouble finding lightbulbs to work in the dining room light. They looked up my account and were able to find lightbulbs that work perfect for our light. Lesson learned - sometimes you just to buy from the professionals. I now have a supply of bulbs that I do not know if I will be able to ever use. Simple repair of two tables lights. Dropped them off to be repaired. Repairman "Bill" called and said you forgot to sign the paperwork. Was never told at the time to sign anything when they were dropped off. We live out of town. Does not pass the " Common sense test " ! Why would we dropped it off for repairman Bill to repair. He left one message to come in and sign the paper work. One month later he called back and said come pick up the lights. Off course the were not down. He lied and said he called numerous times and left messages. I would never recommend taking anything to get repaired by a man that lies. When I picked them up, he just had a smug smile on his face like take that you poor customer. Take your business somewhere else, will never go back and would never consider their business to anyone repairing, purchasing, or giving any business to them again. read more

I am sorry to say that I experienced very poor customer service today. A young girl who was obviously inexperienced and untrained tried for 30 seconds to help me then walked away. Never came back to check on me. I just walked out. Probably won't be going back. Customer service is extremely important especially in a small business. I hope this will be addressed. I understand that staffing is hard to find now. Training staff that you do have should be a priority. read more

Upon recently moving to Bozeman, we were looking for a lighting store to help us with our various lighting projects. Awesome selections with a decent stock on hand, but comes at a high price. We purchased a few lights from these folks, they didn't have as many as we needed fortunately. So I hopped on the internet to purchase more and discovered the exact same light, same brand, same color, etc. for about sixty percent less. Walked in, and asked to purchase a Transformer. Transformers are not very expensive. Showed them a photo of what I needed. No problem they said. They went to the back and got one...Looked used, but I trusted them. They then charged me $44 dollars for a product that was $12 down the street. Pretty bad form Distinctive lighting! read more

On two separate occasions, I needed to order custom lighting, and went here. On both occasions, the staff told me ordering the lighting would only take a couple of weeks, and actually took months. Both times, I had to call and find out what the hold up was, and they simply seemed to have forgotten about my order entirely. For one of the orders, the items I finally did receive were the wrong items. Poor customer service all around. read more

Horrible customer service. Snotty unorganized staff. Poor product knowledge. They sold me a special item under the pretense that the fan was wood, when it arrived it was plastic. I wanted to return it and they said they would charge me a 20% restocking fee, even though they told me it was wood. They don't tell you products are back ordered until weeks after they take your money. Devon, a lady that works there is a joke. I disagree with the low star reviews. Some of the items in their store are pricey but the employees go above and beyond to help find similar items out of their catalogs within your price point. I worked with Nichole who was awesome. They know their product and are extremely helpful. I would and will go back for any of my lighting needs. read more

The only thing that is distinctive about this shop is that the lamps are overpriced and at best average.
