I'll get on the line and it will say "you are first in line!" and ill proceed to hold for anywhere from 30-75 minutes only to be hung up on. IF you do get someone on the line, be prepared for some of the rudest "customer service" youve ever had. This place is bundled into my Townhouse's "Media Package" which is grossly overpriced and doesnt allow for ANY option to shop outside of it. TLDR; Ive been paying sky for months and still have no working cable box in my house, I've been hung up on no less than 5 times both by humans and their phone system and short of offering me the rest of my service on my lease free of charge, I can see no way they'd ever retain me as a customer. **UPDATE: I still hold the some opinions of the company overall, but I'm adding a star because I finally got ahold of a customer service rep that cared, went above and beyond to give me ways to contact them around the hold-line because they understood how frustrated I was, they figured out the equipment I had was faulty, they had a new unit at my door the very next day and still helped me through setup. This persons name is Lanna and this person is far and away the only good thing about getting roped into this service. Thank you Lanna, I hope you get a promotion or something else you deserve for your hard work.

I was having trouble with getting my elderly V.A uncle used to where his channels were at (we get so many more than DISH! and channels we actually watch). I lost my paperwork and couldn't find the number for NewStar and just searched for the DirecTv number online. I called into DiredTv wanting some help with figuring out what to do and I could barely understand the agent on the line (language barrier) and they basically said they would have to send a technician out to me and it would cost me $40-$99. I declined, because I just don't have the money for that. Thought I was just stuck and very dissapointed. One week later I got a follow up call from NewStar just to see how I was liking my New DirecTv sytem. Let me say I am pretty embarrassed at how I treated the young lady on the phone. I vented and was very upset and she didn't interrupt me even once! She listen ACTUALLY LISTENED. Then she fixed it all right over the phone, I didn't even need a technician and that saved me time and money right there! She went through step by step with my uncle of making a favorites list and with the protection plan I had got from them they were able to send me out a remote that fit my uncles needs even better, for free ($15 plus shipping if I didn't have that protection plan). Remote got to us in 2 days and they had already setup a favorites list with my uncle and he was happier than he had ever been in his 80 years of different tv services (he is now deceased). I wish I had the name of that young lady and I hope she sees this review. To that agent if you do see this review I want to thank you and apologize again for how poorly I treated you on the phone. The main thing I have learned through this experience is to go through a authorized dealer for anything I can! Even when I didn't know it they had my back, THANK YOU New Star!!!!!

The basic service itself was fine. They delivered as promised. But, when I tried to leave their…read moreservice then they showed their "dark side". To leave their service, in theory, I needed to call them. Inform them. Then return their products. They said they only wanted their modem back, but I also had their router and I wanted to return that also. They claim that failure to return their devices would result in a $200 "charge". I did not want to have them claim that failure to return the router would result in that charge. Anyway, I was ready to return their devices. But, they have made it seemingly impossible. First, their system seemed to leave me no way to have a documentable contact with them (other than my cell-phone records). In theory they have a "chat" but it was never working. In theory I could email them, but then they wanted me to use a CenturyLink email that they provided - but I didn't have one of those, and couldn't get one because my service was terminated. So, the only way to talk to them was by phone and numerous calls were required. The last of those calls (so far) involved a documented 30 minute "on hold" to connect to a representative. The problem was that to return their devices required a return mailing label. But, I couldn't get it to print when I first tried and then later in this saga I couldn't even get into the place where the label might theoretically be printed (because my service was now cancelled). On my third and fourth calls to them the support person assured me that he would send a hard-copy mailing label so I could return the materials. But, it has not come (over a week later). On my fifth call to them (with the 30 minute wait time) the support person said the return label was sent - but it still has not arrived (almost a week after the time it was supposed to have been sent). So, getting out of their service has been very difficult and still is not over. It had been my intention to "part as friends" - with the intent to come back to CenturyLink if my new provider didn't work out. But, they have poisoned that relationship. There are a limited number of providers in our area for fiberoptic services. CenturyLink was the first, and I'm thankful that I could have their service in the past. So, I've given them two stars - which Yelp calls "Could've been better". But, we all hate the "got'cha" business approach.
