I came here over the weekend with my 15 month old. The DC has plenty of free parking across the street. The DC space itself isn't too big so it'd def doable in a couple of hours. With a 15 month old, there isn't a whole lot to do since most of it is interactive and science based. My kid ran around here and there and touched things. I think we spent like 1-1.5 hour there. We specifically went for the Mickey space. The area was cute but again it's better suited for kids maybe 2+. Overall, fun space for young kids to explore and play. We probably won't go back until our kids is maybe 3 so he can get the full benefit of the space.

A great place for younger kids in the San Fernando Valley. This location does need a remodel/makeover. It basically hasn't changed since it opened. Only the visiting exhibit area upstairs changes. You can get in and out within 2-3 hours easily. Would love to see a revamp to get people to make more return visits. Right now it's a one and done unless you want to see the visiting exhibit or have new kids to experience it for the first time. Location is great. Plenty of free parking too.

Our kids had fun and it was great watching them play. Great for a half day trip. This place has lots of short interactive games and learning activities. Unfortunately most are showing their age or just simply out of commission. The place is clean but could use an update to most of their permanent exhibits. Some of the exhibits look to be rotating/short term and all those were good. They have a small little food court that we didn't try but the offerings are pretty bog standard for a place like this. Parking, like others have mentioned is a little strange but plentiful. It shares a communal lot with the parks it neighbors, so expect a short walk. We traveled from a few hours away for our visit. All in all, I think we'd visit again sometime in the future. Hopefully by then some upkeep has taken place.

Great place to take the kiddos, just an FYI you can run thru entire place in about hour and half to two hours. Has a lot of different science activities for kids. Love the fact they update the 2nd floor with new activities every so often. This time it was scooby doo themed, solving mysteries. Nice little show as well. Great place to visit while your at the damn.

We came to this campus for my son's 4th grade field trip. All exhibits were super fun and interactive. I wish we would have had more time to enjoy each at our own pace. My son really enjoyed himself with the interactive grocery store. I liked that it taught him how to read the food labels in order to make healthy choices. The waste management exhibit was also enjoyed. I wouldn't have thought to make a game out of separating our different wastes. Another favorite was the weight pulling. I'm not sure exactly what part of the exhibit this was, but it definitely looked fun and made my son feel strong! We will definitely be coming back to take our time and get thru each exhibit properly and hopefully ride the carousel!

We came here not expecting too much, but we were pleasantly surprised. This place is mostly designed for kids who are at least 3 years old, maybe older. A lot of hands on activities for kids to learn. Upstairs isn't quite as interesting, we spent most of our time downstairs where most of the action is.

The activities are fun there. It can be a one day rainy day activity. The younger ones can do the supermarket experience and fun activities upstairs. The older one like the iPad activities

This really is a must-visit if you're a history buff or into antiques or just want to get a small dose of local culture. The Andres Pico Adobe was built in 1834 and is one of the oldest adobe structures in Los Angeles (the other is at Olvera Street). It's also known as the Romulo Pico Adobe (the son of Andres). It is filled with antiques: a working player piano, antique irons, toasters, clothing and shoes, furniture, sewing machines and an old phonograph that plays recordings on wax rolls. The term, "Put a sock in it" was explained to me by Midge when I asked about the rolled up socks next to the phonograph. Since there was no volume control, you literally put a sock in it to muffle the noise! The Lankershim Reading Room, built in 1904, had been lovingly restored and is on site. It's really beautiful and as Midge said, "If these walls could talk!" Lots of famous people have visited it, back in the day. The Railroad Shanty, built in 1914, is another quaint reminder of the era when trains were the main mode of transportation. The Native American Indian Gallery is chock full of arrowheads and other interesting bits and it's even been blessed by the local tribesmen. Please visit- it's free- and leave a donation! While walking through the construction currently surrounding Forest Avenue, my young daughter was injured by the hazardous conditions right in front of this gallery. As any parent would, I immediately tried to move her to a safe, quiet spot off the sidewalk to check her injuries and calm her down. Instead of showing the slightest bit of empathy or asking if a child was okay, the staff at Coast Gallery were immediately hostile. We were told to "get lost" and move away from their entrance. It wasn't just a matter of being "unhelpful"--the tone and specific remarks made it painfully clear that we were being targeted because of our race. They saw a family of color in distress and their first instinct wasn't "how can we help?" but "how can we get these people away from our storefront?" It is ironic that a gallery claiming to represent "culture" and "fine art" operates with such an ugly, narrow-minded prejudice. To prioritize their "aesthetic" over the safety of a bleeding child is a reflection of the toxic environment they've cultivated. Laguna Beach prides itself on being an inclusive artist colony, but Coast Gallery is a stain on that reputation.
