    It's a big head.

My wife and I were in Van Nuys on Easter to pick up a piece of furniture thanks to Facebook Market Place when we tried to find some other things to do in the area. Well, thanks to Yelp and some random research we found Valley Relics and without really knowing what it was, we headed on over and luckily this place was open! When we walked in, we were greeted by two gentleman hanging out in the store area and explained what was ahead for us, so we paid for two tickets and headed on in! Now, I'm still not entirely sure what this place is, but the second you walk in you are surrounded by thousands of insane things from movie props and relics, to neon signs, arcade machines, and old toys. Around every single corner you have things from Planet of the Apes, ACDC, The Munsters, Star Wars, Old Restaurants, Movie Cars, and thousands of other items you definitely didn't plan on seeing when you walked in. After you walk through the first room, you enter a massive open space filled with signs, a giant dragon, and my personal favourite part, free to play arcade machines! I spent a good twenty minutes playing the Initial D racing game and I'll probably be a return customer just to come and play that again honestly. Overall, Valley Relics is such a cool place to walk around and take people too. This place has so much history, random stuff, and the guys working were super friendly. My one complaint? No magnets, which seems to be a thing in Los Angeles that's been driving me crazy. Either way, come check this place out, you won't regret it!

We came to the Valley Relics Museum early in the morning on a weekend and it was already starting to get busy. With a Groupon, we ended up paying $12 or so for two which was a great deal. I believe the regular entrance would otherwise have been $15/person or so. The main reason I am unsure about the museum is that it is very small. There are some cool neon signs to see and local memorabilia but it just kind of left me a bit perplexed overall. The place spoke a little more to my friend who grew up in the valley than it did to me. The museum has its own parking lot. Otherwise, street parking shouldn't be too hard to find.

Free play machines for guests to use!

If I could plan each and every one of my events at Valley Relics Museum, I would. The ease of booking, planning, and setting up there with Tommy's team was smooth. I have NEVER in my 15 years of planning has such a stress and pain free planning process with a venue. Joe and Connor are two gems, and the sweetest guys you could meet! The museum is full of rich history, culture- so many surprises tucked around each corner! The guests were blown away!

Amazing museum! Free parking. Clean restrooms that also include signage. They have a DDR on free play that is included with admission. I think it was $15 each. Highlight of the museum was the neon and the bmx bikes. Google maps had us go to the front of the building by the aviation. The museum is one street behind. There will be a sign directing you where to go. It's air condition inside but can get fairly warm still

We just chose to have our school's Gala at Valley Relics this year and we could not have made a better choice in venue. This place is not only fun and unique but the staff is incredible! Every step of the way, while planning this massive event, Tommy and Connor were incredibly helpful, responsive and so willing to work with us on absolutely anything us or our vendors would need. Our event ended up being everything we dreamed of and more! Our guests had so much fun playing the classic arcade games Valley Relics has, taking in the nostalgic signs from all over Los Angeles and walking thru the amazing museum portion of the venue. And Joe was incredibly helpful, day of the event, immediately jumping in to help us with all the surprise situations that happen when you're setting up for a huge event. I'm going to give them 5 stars on here because that's as much as Yelp will let me but if I could, I'd give them 10! Highly recommend this hidden gem - but ONLY if you like fun! :

What a great place! As someone who was raised up in the San Fernando Valley in the 80s, there was so much here for me to take in and bring back memories. Plus they had plenty of stuff that goes back even further to before my time and they gave me a glimpse of the rich history of the San Fernando Valley. This is definitely a place to check out if you're someone just visiting Los Angeles or a long time resident. Also make sure to check out the souvenir shop. They sell a nice selection of cool t-shirts that commemorate SFV businesses, radio stations, restaurants etc that are no longer around.

What an amazing place, and an even more amazing place for a valley girl. It is so nostalgic walking in here, not just the neon signs of restaurant and business past, but also a treasure trove of curated movie and actor memorabilia. Each section is beautifully created from airplane and war related memorabilia, old TV shows like gunsmoke in a movie and music section...it really has something nostalgic for all! $15 for admission, with a little gift shop to pick up something that reminds you of your childhood. The guys working in the front were so amazing and friendly, and Julie, one of the museums curators was so full of knowledge and took the time to show us her personal collections and share stories of her rich history on SFV. The museum is tucked inside what looks like an industrial park, parking is free and in abundance. Definetly a place to visit when you are feeling nostalgic, and am so proud to be apart of this amazing valley!

A very nice selection of relics that will bring back some childhood memories. Friendly staff makes it quite nice.

Nostalgic and full of wonderful relics from the past. From Charlie's Angels to ET with the bikes used in the movie and diner billboards and signs. A blast from the past. Go visit!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience here at Rubel Castle. Our host, guide,…read moreand local "Rubelligent" volunteer, Ms. Kathleen had all the intel about this historical property. She was so knowledgeable and helped set the stage for us to slip into a forgotten era and get a glimpse of how imagination met inventiveness with a DIY charm. ~ A LITTLE BACKSTORY FOR YOU ~ It's not pronounced Rubel as Barney from Flintstones. Rather, it's like Target is to Targét when we are trying to be fancy. So that's Rubel as in "Roo-bell." Unlike modern-day construction, Rubel Castle wasn't built overnight. It was made of collected recyclables and construction rubble that spanned many decades and took several friends and volunteers to build it. For Michael, however, the lifetime inspiration was first sparked at the age of 9. His love for canons was where it started and the rest is history you can hear about on the tour. But don't just show up like we did randomly one day. To book, visit RubelTours.org and make a reservation. ~ OUR TOUR EXPERIENCE ~ It's as if Michael Rubel, the creator and mastermind of this enchanted dominion had intended it to be--magical. Built in the castle period of wood and tin, every corner captured our interests, from antique cars to the 1890's Seth Thomas Tower Clock with a unique backstory (and only six in existence today). There were old vending machines, tools, trinkets, and machinery that time had long forgotten. Did I mention there was a drawbridge? Yes, and a dungeon too. I was just waiting for a dragon to come swoop down on us next. Walk in the footsteps of famous visitors like Alfred Hitchcock, Dwight Eisenhower, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope. It's a feast for the eyes no matter where you glance. I particularly enjoyed the bottle house that Michael built in 1968 as his "home" as a kid. That independent spirit was quite charming to see. ~ WATERCOLOR NATURESCAPE ~ We were fortunate to have our gracious host lead us on a tour and organize a special art crafting experience outdoors. It was absolutely lovely beneath the trees and between rusted vintage cars from the turn of the century. We each got a small canvas to paint our flowers in watercolor. (This particular experience takes place in the Spring and Fall, weather permitting.) We heard the squirrels rattling in the leaves and birds chirped and sang in the trees above. We discovered that peacocks apparently originated from this property, compliments of Michael Rubel. And did I mention that on the far side of the property, a custom garden was in full bloom? Thanks to the sheer persistence (and probably delightful stubbornness) of Michael Rubel, we now have this quirky, towering State Treasure sitting right in the middle of Glendora like a fairy tale that accidentally took a detour through a hardware store. This place is beautifully done, and part of its charm is that it's a full-on hodgepodge of relics, antiques, crystal trinkets, and "wait... what is that doing here?" moments tucked into every nook and cranny. You'll marvel, you'll laugh, you'll squint in confusion--honestly, it's everything you'd want in a castle built with love, imagination, and a dash of madness. And let's talk about the makeshift cemetery. Quirky? YES. Fun? Absolutely. Slightly spooky? Only if your imagination is over-caffeinated. But it fits the vibe perfectly--like the castle whispered, "You know what I'm missing? A tiny cemetery." The tours are fantastic, the guides are passionate, and the whole experience feels like you're stepping into a living scrapbook of California history and charming chaos. Overall: Amazing, amazing place. Book your tour. They only do tours every first Sunday of the month, so set your alarms, mark your calendars, tie a string around your finger--just don't miss it. Rubel Castle is truly a California State Treasure, and an absolute must-see for anyone who appreciates creativity, history, and a little eccentric sparkle.
