Owner is extremely rude. I tried having a conversation and gave me attitude because he was on the phone but asked what I needed.

Super cute, whimsical and magical experience at the Museum of Make Believe…read more After seeing some Instagram posts and reels about the cute space, my friend and I decided to stop by to visit for a day trip. You do choose a time slot to enter, but due to traffic we were going to be a little bit late. We called and let the staff know and it was no biggie. Parking is a bit confusing since it's near a very busy road and residential area, so just make sure you're not parking where you can get fined or towed. After some confusion, we parked in the structure (unclear if allowed or not, but subsequently nothing happened. Phew!). The museum is located at the business plaza building and immediately stands out with it's beautiful storefront and the door that looks like it's out of a fairytale. Immediately we were welcomed by Sabrina, who was not only super informative (but in an easy to understand, not overwhelming way), but super friendly and made our visit that much more amazing. She knows the lore, knew the key and critical points to swoop in to enhance the magic (like when we went to ask the wise wizard some questions), and was very accommodating overall. The people really do make the magic. During your visit, you can opt to do the scavenger hunts and answer the riddles for some prizes and it varies in difficulty from easy to hard, but everything is open to interpretation based on YOUR IMAGINATION. It's the Museum of Make Believe for a reason. The attention to detail is immaculate, from the miniatures and dioramas, the foliage on the ceiling to the ground, and even in the water closet, there's so much to see and you can easily spend a long time just taking everything in. I won't include spoilers but I love that there's not just a lot to see, but to experience through sound and even smell! Lots of thought went into this museum and I'm glad it's getting expanded as well! Can't wait to see what the future holds for such a magical place!

Even if you…read moreare not a history buff you may have driven around the Laguna Niguel area or Laguna Hills area on Moulton Parkway or Nellie Gale Road and wondered who these streets were named after; you'll find out if you visit here. This museum is located in a small plaza. You can walk through it on your own or have one of the docents walk you through it and tell you the story of Lewis Moulton and his wife Nellie Gale. I opted to have a docent tour and Dave was a wealth of information. My one-on-one tour lasted about an hour; I had a lot of questions and Dave had a lot of answers. The museum is full of artifacts. The placards and video screens along the museum walls give the basic story of the Moultons if you choose not to have a docent accompany you. But it you're not in a hurry - choose to have a docent guide you! I learned so much about the history of the area from Irvine to El Toro (now known as Lake Forest) and southward to Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo and San Juan Capistrano...and the areas surrounding them. The museum is free and has very limited hours but it's worthwhile to find the time to make the visit. They occasionally schedule events at other times which might be more convenient so check their website. Oh, and if you happen to get Dave as your docent, have him tap out some Morse code for you!

Visiting MM's events this year has been a highlight within my friend group. Elisabeth, the curator and director, has taken on the marketing aspects for this museum and I feel like she's doing an amazing job. They hold exhibits for about 3 months centered around prominent people from the Nellie Gail ranch or based off Moulton. They have a lot of events that are really nice to attend! The restaurant inside is beautiful, it's done in beautiful shades of red accented with white furniture. The walls are adorned with pictures of past and present Hollywood stars. We started our dining experience with a shared Cesar salad, my boyfriend ordered the lobster ravioli as his entree and I opted for the mushroom chicken, the portions were ample and seasoned perfectly. For dessert we shared the Grand Marnier soufflé, the Soufflé is a show stopper and must order, it was beautiful and served elegantly by Domenico the owner. After dinner we sat at the bar for after dinner cocktails and enjoyed the live Jazz music. The service at this restaurant is Impeccable, the weight staff are like magical fairies, you never have to ask for anything, your glasses are automatically filled, if you leave the table, your napkin is re-folded and dinner plates are cleared promptly after you have finished dining.
