This is a beautiful gallery with several helpful workers. I try to visit it everytime I go to Laguna Beach. I love the artwork and the view of Laguna Beach, from the back patio, is very nice! I came while they were having Wyland's birthday open house and that is a great time to shop and see Wyland and the other artists painting. They also have better prices because you are at the studio. Even if you aren't buying, you get to see lots of beautiful art. read more

I love visiting this gallery in Laguna Beach. I probably don't go here enough but anytime I have guests visiting me I always take them to one of my favorite restaurants South Of nicks across the street and then to this gallery as we walk along the edge of the beach.. there's so much talent in this gallery right now he has a couple of other artists that he has joined with which makes it even more exciting when you go through the Gallery. A fun fact most people don't know that Wyland lives above his studio... And trust me he has the best ocean view of all.... If you are in Laguna Beach I strongly suggest you pop in to this gallery you can't miss it the beautiful dolphin tales water feature is right out front it's very impressive. read more

This gallery is awesome. My boyfriend knows a lot about Laguna and Wyland art including the original gallery location prior to this building. He was telling me about the mural on the side of the building as we walked up because he used to come here 20 years ago on surf trips often and spend weeks at a time here. So it was neat to learn a bit about the history of the mural on the building and how this building was purchased after the lease was up from the other owner. The artist and his mother live in the lower and upper floors and it's filled with beautiful art at reasonable gallery prices (big discounts if you buy in the gallery) with killer views of the shore out back. The gallery staff were friendly and unassuming, answering questions and offering assistance but were not at all pushy. I appreciated that. I've had some terrible experiences while art shopping in the past. This is a large space with tons of Wyland art including some of the sketches, some other pieces, and the acrylic statues. So there is probably something for everyone in here if you are a fan and looking to add a new piece to your collection. I enjoyed this space and loved the open-air, casual feel. A gem! read more

We almost walked right past this gem, but the dolphin mural had my son wanting to walk in. I'm glad we did. Wyland donated his time to make the defunct power plant on the border of Redondo and Hermosa beach less of an eye sore. I saw his art work for 8 years. We had a fabulous time learning all about his art work from the wonderful person that runs his gallery. He was super friendly, and we were very interested. The sculptures and art are beautiful to behold. This gallery is definitely worth stepping into. read more

The pictures were amazing! HOWEVER the guy working for Wyland was not! I was seriously interested in buying something.... But the guy was not friendly, helpful or nice. As we walked in.... he put his mask on like we were bothering him. Later I asked him a question. And he should have rephrased it. I asked how long does his average portrait take ? He said 64 years. I laughed and said no really. This guy has no sense of humor. He is a miserable unhappy person. We walked out. I can not understand people like this! Gave me an overall bad taste in my mouth! This is my favorite place to visit. The first time I visited this gallery was 21 years ago, my husband and I stopped in, enjoyed the art then sat out back with coffee and enjoyed the view. I lost my husband a couple of months later, so this wonderful place holds a special meaning to me. I try to go every couple of years either on our anniversary or my husbands birthday, which would have been today. I took my almost 18 year granddaughter (a budding artist herself) I knew she would really appreciate Wyland's amazing talent. When we arrived a gentlemen was leaving the gallery, he greeted us asked if everything was okay etc and that he was off to lunch. As he walked away it dawned on me who was being so kind. I have taken away a star that this gallery definitely deserves - only because the Wyland "brand" of art is so well established in a commercial way. At one point in the process of art becoming "all-accepted" it also becomes no more than "poster-art". So many of the Wyland paintings seem to me like $7,000 hand painted posters. I love his work. But it has become so commercialized and popular that there is no way that the artist painted from his heart - he obviously painted from the needs of his success, That said - this gallery is inspiring. read more

I am a huge fan of Wyland, and the Wyland Foundation. (too I own two prints and a sculpture) It had been a long time since I have been in a gallery, but found myself in Laguna for lunch yesterday. Art of the sea and its ocean life. So lovely and calming. A world renowned artist and his gallery that is packed with paintings and sculptures to die for. The waves, the mermaids and all the dolphins! Was sad to hear their little cafe will be closing at the end of Dec 2018. Wyland and his art are a gift to the world. When you see his bronze sculptures, it is as if the ocean life is speaking to you. Wyland's work is not only beautiful, but timeless. A treasure that can be shared through generations. At the rate our oceans are experiencing destruction, his work is a stark reminder that we must change. He has been criticized that he is too commercial, too ubiquitous, and that this devalues his work. I think it speaks to a love of art and ability to share it with everyone. His Laguna Beach site is incredible. And, if you are drawn to VanGogh, then you must see his new work-wow. I wish I had a fairy godmother. Mr. Wyland, thank you for sharing you gifts. I discovered this gallery on my walk along Laguna Beach. A browse around made me realize Wyland is not just a painter of whales and marine life, but an activist, celebrity, and philanthropist as well. I loved Wyland's Asian ink brush style paintings of the whales. With few strokes, and the delicate control of the brush, he was able to achieve the marine image. If you go to the back of the gallery, the deck offers an exceptional view of the beach and ocean. It's not to be missed! Great location and inspiring artwork. read more

Amazing staff to go along with the most beautiful oceanic art I have ever seen. I have gone in before and spoken with Tammy, she is a wonderful worker and she took the time to answer all my questions. I was informed by Brian that Tammy is now working in their corporate office. Brian is also a very nice guy and he is very enthusiastic about the art he sells. Mr. Wyland should be very proud of having such a wonderful staff at his side. I've loved Wyland and his artwork since I was a kid. I anticipated coming here for about 2 months for an 'Artist in Studio' meet. The studio is beautiful, the staff is friendly, the art is priced as it should be priced. Wyland was very friendly, and eager to talk even with having other people wanting to get in a picture with him. I waited in Laguna most of the day, Friday the 13th. A lot of shops and places to explore. Meeting the man himself tied into a great day. I highly suggest making a trip to Laguna, and stopping by the studio. We bought Dolphin Dreams many years ago. We really liked the colors of the piece. However after many years the white belly has turned from white to tan/pinkish. Colors do not hold up. Was told by the gallery (this is normal). They did offer to replace it for me. Buyer beware. Your bronze sculptured dolphin well probably not stay the same color. read more

I purchased a turtle coin pendant several years ago from the Laguna Beach Wyland Gallery. I recently lost the pendant in the depths of Lake Tahoe and was heartbroken. I called up and spoke with Daemon who indicated that this piece was discontinued; however, he searched and found one in inventory in Maui. He went above and beyond to locate this for me. Amazing artist and beautiful place but the lady inside very very rude! I'm italian, recently move in OC, I'm also an artist, I was walking inside by a little room awhile this lady was showing a very small paint to another couple with light and without light effect, I thought was so beautiful that I call my husband to show to him, I ask her in a very gentle way if we can see too, and literally she push me out of the door and close the door of the room in front of my face cause that was a private consultation, so she told me that i need wait for the next. I understand that was private but I didnt know before and there are a millions ways to clarify that! Me and my husband we was maybe thinking to buy something but not after that! You need be very gentle when you work with other people if you want sell something! read more

I never miss Wyland's show on pbs every Sunday so I was excited to visit his gallery. His gallery is amazing and I love he is about conservation of our great earth. Wish I could afford a painting but I did go to his gift shop and bought a hat. This place is very nice and there is a nice guy who can answer any questions you have. They have a nice coffee shop connected to the gallery and a sweet lady who runs the coffee shop and the gift shop I felt bad she was working so hard. My wife wanted a cookie and the lady hooked us up with all the cookies since they were starting to close. This place is highly recommended if you love his work and they have really good coffee also. read more

What a special way to spend the afternoon. Our Brownie Girl Scout troop ventured to Wyland Gallery in Laguna Beach on a lovely autumn afternoon. Mary Adam was so helpful and guided us around, explaining the artwork. She patiently explained to 11 little Girl Scouts and their families the inspirational work of Mr. Wyland and paused for a moment in her teaching to help a customer among us. Thank you for your patience and teaching (and for making gift shopping easy this year -- I know just what to get my husband with your help)! TIP: If you are coming as a group, call ahead and order a tray of cookies to enjoy on the patio.
