The collection at this museum is pretty impressive! My visit to the Nethercutt Museum exceeded my expectations. The place was immaculate and the staff were all very pleasant. It cost $5 for entry and it was worth it. We just happened to get there about a 1/2 hour before the Steam Locomotive Train tour and it was a sight to see. The Gentleman who ran the tour was very knowledgeable. You can even Ring the bell... pull hard! Enjoy! #jsho

Adventure awaits on four wheels. Let's delve into this auto museum review. The Nethercutt Museum is an automobile museum with an extensive collection of over 250 beautifully restored American and European luxury automobiles housed in a 40,000 sq ft space. It's a self-guided tour museum. Furthermore, they have rare mechanical music instruments and car artifacts. The majority of cars are from the late 1890, 1900s to 1980's beautifully arranged with detailed descriptions. Similarly, this museum owns a rare Canadian-Pacific Royal Train No. 2839 located outside the museum. The admission price is $5 bucks. Visitors must abide to museum protocols such as only bottled water is allowed, no backpacks and vehicles cannot be touched. They have free parking lot, restrooms and a gift shop. Museum staff docents are affable and knowledgable. Visitors can easily spend two hours in this auto museum. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and I recommend you visit if you're into classic cars.

Such a fun experience, you can be in and out of there in well under an hour if you're looking for a quick family activity and are in the area. They have a wonderful collection of cars and the train is pretty awesome. Great for just $5 and kids 12 and under are free.

Located on a quiet street in a rather industrial area of Sylmar is a car museum with a train permanently stationed at the rear of the building. Be sure to check tour hours for the train, as it's 12:00 on Saturdays and varies on others. As for the vehicles, all were pristine and representative of our California love affair with the automobile. Amazingly, these vehicles survived two world wars, riots and earthquakes in southern California. I seemed to gravitate towards the Corvette and Porsche, which are so pristine up close, with silver color de jour. If you love classics, this may be a place for you!

Best kept secret in all of Sylmar. The Nethercutt Museum houses two buildings with over 250 cars. (Expensive and rare cars at that!) If you're coming, go all out, and reserve your tickets for the 2 hour tour. Not only will you learn interesting facts from the knowledgeable docent but you'll also get to see their private collection of figurines, music boxes and even a free concert at the end. Definitely a must see.

I took the kids here one afternoon in the summer. We all really enjoyed it. The cars are super fun to look at and we all had fun talking about what it would be like to drive in them and to see how they have changed over time. Definitely a great outing if you have a short amount of time. I think we spent about 40 minutes looking at all the cars.

Hidden gem but worth the visit, even if you aren't a big car person. Everything is kept in such immaculate condition with so much information it's hard not to be in awe and appreciate it.

Museum in Sylmar , yes you read that correct. I just took my grand bebe and he loved it so much . It's also "free" we did not make it to train tour , but we still admired all the other beauties. We thank you for having this place available and open to the Public

Absolutely gorgeous car collection!! Music boxes were amazing! Loved the music box tour! Organs! the history of the museum and the family was really an added bonus.

We read on tripadvisor.com that there is a $10 pp tour that covers that highlights of the 250+ car collection. So we took the tour on a Thursday at 10 AM and it was excellent. We learned so much about cars, the first gas engine cars, and music boxes from the early 1900s that were part of the Nethercutt collection. We ran out of time to check out the trains and many cars, but we will be back. Since the entire museum and the parking is free, one can come back time and again.

The most beautiful cars, limousines, race cars, music boxes, pianos, and automated "piano-orchestras - -huge!! Huge collection of hood ornaments! My favorite: The Mighty Wurlitzer-103 years old!! Amazing sound effects REAL sound effects horns, rain, birds, earthquakes, horse, many drums, train whistles (and much more) are played from the keyboard!!! NASA & JPL worked to automate! There is a train song- it feels like a train is in the room. Bosendorger piano: The largest longest, most amazing and can be played Remotely! It's a magnificent collection from the family that gave us - Merle Norman cosmetics. It is especially great because each item is lovingly cared for and restored by the staff and experts have worked with designers and researchers to restore the cars accurately. You can get close to each exhibit! Many docents! Definitely worth waiting to get a reservation.

If you are ever in Sylmar, why? But if you are, behold the 9th wonder of the world and most popular museum seemingly unknown to everyone in Los Angeles, the perfume zillionaires, The Nethercutt Museum. The Nethercutt's collected cars, electrical instruments, 1919 Motion picture projector and the second oldest Mighty Wurlitzer organ and mandated that the museum be free to the public. They show silent classic movies with the live Mighty Wurlitzer organ playing and it's quite entertaining. Now there is a mandate I am sure everyone can agree with.

This museum is a little hidden gem in my own neighborhood! I spent over 2 hours just in the main museum!! They have all 6 Phantom Rolls Royces!! They have a beautiful collection of vehicles that everyone should see!! I highly recommend this museum!!

This really is a must-visit if you're a history buff or into antiques or just want to get a small dose of local culture. The Andres Pico Adobe was built in 1834 and is one of the oldest adobe structures in Los Angeles (the other is at Olvera Street). It's also known as the Romulo Pico Adobe (the son of Andres). It is filled with antiques: a working player piano, antique irons, toasters, clothing and shoes, furniture, sewing machines and an old phonograph that plays recordings on wax rolls. The term, "Put a sock in it" was explained to me by Midge when I asked about the rolled up socks next to the phonograph. Since there was no volume control, you literally put a sock in it to muffle the noise! The Lankershim Reading Room, built in 1904, had been lovingly restored and is on site. It's really beautiful and as Midge said, "If these walls could talk!" Lots of famous people have visited it, back in the day. The Railroad Shanty, built in 1914, is another quaint reminder of the era when trains were the main mode of transportation.
