I loved everything about this place. The staff was warm and welcoming. When I entered the building and let them know I was the first time visitor, and a new patient. The tech who ran me through the initial test, was very professional, and very kind. She was a dynamo full of energy. Dr. Ron was great! He took his time with me and explained everything I needed to know. I am very pleased with the quality of care here, and the people were amazing!! read more

I recently had broken blood vessel exam with Dr. Singh. I felt like an object on a assembly line. He rushed into the exam room, examined the eye, he then headed out the door. I called out and ask what he found, I received a very dismissive reply "It will heal itself". I have seen Dr. Robb at Discover for years and have always been pleased. read more

Terrible customer service. They canceled my appointment so the doctor could extend his holiday weekend and couldn't reschedule me for 6 weeks, never offered to get me into another doctor. Didn't return my call to resolve this. Then started sending me texts and emails that I had missed my appointment. They're just too big, inefficient and not committed to patient care. read more

Horrible, horrible customer service had an appointment that got changed without my knowledge and they would not service me. I made the appointment one year ahead of time..very upset and kept asking what I did to cause this. I responded to no less than 7 messages confirming! read more

"I Can See Clearly Now" Discover Vision Center in Lee's Summit is located in a strip mall across the street from John Knox Village. Parking is ample and handy, including handicap spaces right in front of the door. Speaking of the door, they have a vestibule arrangement so that there is no summer heat or winter cold allowed in the reception area when someone goes in or out. Pretty thoughtful, huh. Some changes have been made in light of the Covid era: Yes, the now familiar plexiglas at the reception desk and each of the the desks for the technicians fitting glasses are the first clues. Seating in the waiting area has been drastically reduced to aid social distancing. Appointments appear to have been reduced so that there is very little waiting. Coffee machines and drinking fountains have been removed or covered. I like the fact that they do send out both telephone and email reminders / confirmations so you do not have to rely on not losing a reminder card. My dealing with all the staff has always been positive. All have worked to assure I understood the billings and have worked with my schedule in mind. I have been seeing Dr. Welxeldorfer (OK, everybody refers to him as Dr. Rob for obvious reasons) for a few years. He struck me favorably in that he actually listens! Do I recommend them - a resounding YES! read more

This is not a good place to get cataract surgery. They basically do an assembly line of patients at their surgery center. My mother had a terrible experience after surgery. She couldn't see and had swelling of the retina and she also got a serious eye infection. They treated her very poorly when she went back after surgery. They need a lesson in respecting your elders. I cannot recommend this place at all! read more

I went in for an annual eye exam and I guess that was accomplished. But the other aspects of choosing any company to do business with were lacking. It was mentioned in a few other reviews about the customer service and I would have to say I agree. It can use some attention. I didn't feel welcome, which if you're wooing customers is a must unless you're the only game in town. And Discover is not. The front desk was decent but my technician was terrible. Lots of gestures and body language symbolic of being perturbed. And no pleasantries when she called me back for the exam. Not even a hello, just instructions that, depending on how well were followed or understood, seemed to frustrate her or show her lack of patience. I came to them because they were close and on my insurance provider list but I will not go back. I would recommend you look elsewhere for eye care as well. read more

The optical shop made my glassed 3 times and they still were not right, they stated they would not redo them again. Charged my insurance company but did not refund the. I went to another optical shop where they made them in the store and they made me 2 pair and they both were correct. The technician who works with the Doctor did not check my eyes correctly, the doctor had to redo her work to get a good correction. That has been a common problem with Discover Vision. read more

My biggest disappointment in an eye care facility ever! Under normal circumstances, the wait is long beyond your appointment time and gals at the desk loudly discussing their personal matters. I could tell you about one of their kid's student loan that she was attempting to negotiate down, but I assume you're just as disinterested as I was. They got my prescription wrong and I was wearing my left eye contact in my right eye for a long time...causing headaches. When I questioned it, the contact person argued with me instead of explaining the difference in the measurements and acknowledging the possibility that they had been marked wrong. Under urgent circumstances, it's even worse. I had a stye-like nodule develop over the weekend. I called in. The answering service said the on-call doc would call me right back. He did NOT. He called back on Sunday promising that someone would call by 8am on Monday. They did NOT. They finally got me in before noon. Dr Rob examined me and gave me recommendations, but no clear diagnosis. I called the office manager __Carey? of the Independence office to share my poor experience. She was apologetic, but nothing happened. Thankfully my eye is much better but still have a small hard nodule. Nobody has followed up with me. I expected attentiveness and compassion from Discover Eye Centers! Boy, was it a let down. My eyes are precious, so I'm moving on. read more

I called in a panic because my eyes were hurting so badly and red as could be. I'd been having some issues for a while but this day it was BAD. The receptionist was very helpful and concerned and was able to get me in right away. I saw Dr. Weixeldorfer who listened to my history and asked about issues beyond my eyes to determine if there could be other medical issues going on as well. I felt very confident with his diagnosis and future treatment recommendations. I am happy to report that in less than 24 hours my eyes were completely relieved. I appreciate the immediate attention and care I received. Top notch facility and service! read more

Very poor customer service! My mom went here on the recommendation of a friend. This is the most unprofessional, unfriendly establishment I have dealt with in a long time. They simply could not be bothered to help her pick out glasses frames so she thankfully did not buy here. When I went in to get her prescription, they were downright nasty. I was fully prepared to help her pick out and purchase new glasses. Perhaps a polite hello, how can we help? They made us wait forever to simply print a piece of paper! Ok, maybe I am spoiled, but both of the places I have gotten glasses for myself are so pleasant and helpful I stop by to say hi if I am in the neighborhood. The social misfits at Discover Vision should not be meeting the public. Go to a real optometrist. Avoid this Walmart of eyewear. read more

First off, my eye doctor was great! However, it was like pulling teeth to get the staff to fax my prescription to Costco! They said they could ONLY send it by fax and would not email to them or to me (which seems weird in this day-and-age, but hey HIPA I guess...). Anyway, Costco kept getting faxes saying "the received fax couldn't come through." When I called Discover, their only remedy was for me to drive over to their store 30 min. in the opposite direction, pick up the prescription, and then drive back to Costco. Then they told me "I shouldn't gripe" when I got frustrated that was their only suggestion to help me. UGH! After an hour and a half of waiting for two more phantom faxes that were never received, I left Costco. Guess I'm driving to Discover tomorrow and then back there. What a waste of time and gas! I would recommend them for eye exams, but keep your prescription close to your heart when you leave because if you have to rely on them to send it to another glasses/contacts manufacturer, you're in trouble! read more

Unprofessional, every time I've been there the receptionists have been on their cell phone talking about inappropriate things. Furthermore, their doctors completely had my prescription wrong. I've gone there for 3 years and the entire time I was told I had astigmatism in the right eye. I've seen three doctors at different offices since to get futher recommendations because I get awful headaches after wearing glasses for more than a couple hours. All three of those doctors told me my prescription was very far and that I have astigmatism in my LEFT eye, not my right. I brought this same issue up to the doctors at Discover several times over the last 3 years and they just shrugged it off saying my eyes would eventually adjust and when they never did I just stopped wearing the glasses. They never once double checked my prescription or glasses and the exam was a half assed exam. All of the new doctors gave me several exams, explained what they were for, and we're a lot more helpful. At Discover I always felt rushed in and out even when I can tell there aren't any other patients there but me. Don't waste your time or money, I spent 3 years coming here to find out their "doctors" won't do proper exams and had my Rx wrong the entire time. So happy I stopped using their service. read more

Absolutely the worst eye doctor i have ever seen and i've been to a bunch over the years. Had an office trained person do the actual exam not even a trained ophthalmologist! I wasn't seeing great w what she came up with on their machine. I told the doctor that I was seeing well with my current glasses. He told me it wouldn't be 'ethical' to prescribe the same prescription and I would have to use the prescription he was giving me which he never even checked! Or continue to wear my current glasses even though they have scratches! Then he looked over his shoulder to the woman who came in with him and said 'isn't that right?' You've got to be kidding me! He said if I didn't like that I could go somewhere else. So I told him I would be sure to do that next year. He got up to leave. Really nice when they had dilated my eyes and he hadn't even checked them yet. I told him he had to finish his exam which he did but it was a waste of my time. Worst yet is he will get paid for this, I still need a prescription I can see with, I can't get another exam till next year and I really need new glasses! I'm reporting this to my insurance company! We will NEVER go back to this business! read more
