It was very inconvenient for me to be there each time I went, but I did anyways because being able to see is quite important. Plus when they say "it can't wait til Monday", you listen! However, each time I was there and again explained the same symptoms to the actual doctor, I was treated with skepticism and a dismissive attitude, like "why are you even here". The 2nd time I was there they finally looked hard enough and found something... but only after my insistence that my optometrist saw something and would not have sent me for no reason. I don't generally give bad reviews and I try to give people grace, but three different visits with 2 different doctors and it's all been the same. So, if you want to be treated with disdain and waste your time, go ahead and use their services. Otherwise, 0/10, do not recommend. At all.

My mother is currently a patient here receiving injections for wet macular degeneration every 4-6…read moreweeks. These are injections directly into the eye, so feeling comfortable and confident with the physician performing them is extremely important. A few months ago her regular doctor was on leave, and she was treated by another physician in the practice. The difference in her experience was very noticeable. This doctor took time to explain the procedure, rinsed her eyes afterward, and my mother left with significantly less pain and fewer side effects than she normally experiences. Because of that experience, my mother has asked multiple times to switch to that doctor. Each time she has been flat-out denied the request. This is incredibly frustrating and difficult to understand, especially since the doctor she prefers is reportedly accepting new patients. My mother is an older patient, and navigating repeated denials and administrative hurdles like this has been very stressful and discouraging for her. Patients should have a reasonable ability to choose the physician they feel most comfortable with for an ongoing treatment like this, especially when injections into the eye are involved. These treatments happen every 4-6 weeks and they are scary and uncomfortable. Instead, she has repeatedly been told she cannot switch doctors within the practice. After asking multiple times and being denied each time, she now feels stuck continuing care with a doctor she doesn't feel comfortable with, which is a very difficult position for a patient receiving eye injections every few weeks. At this point we are strongly considering moving her care to a different retina specialist outside of KU altogether. It's disappointing that a large medical system would refuse to work with a patient on something as reasonable as choosing the physician who is injecting medication into her eyes. I truly hope someone from patient relations or clinic leadership will review this situation and reconsider. I am giving two stars instead of one because there is a front desk gentleman who has always been very kind to my mother and has helped put her at ease several times. Unfortunately this situation is clearly outside of his control, but his kindness has not gone unnoticed.

Dr.Pachy is great! She is very professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and really hears what you are…read moresaying. She has helped me find some great options that work best for me. Ruth was great! She made me feel comfortable to take my time when looking at different frames and she helped to tell me not only which ones she liked from the ones I had selected, but why they worked on my face and for my needs as well. The waiting area is very nice, even though I rarely spend more than a few minutes waiting, it is very pleasant. I look forward to my annual eye appointment every year because I feel like they help me (checking the prescription on my old glasses to see if they still work for me, for example) and hear me out and I leave seeing better with a fun new pair of glasses. It's an annual treat!

I can no longer recommend this practice to anyone. The ophthalmologists are very friendly and…read morereally good, but over the last year I have experienced what I consider to be questionable business practices. I was a patient for over 12 years, but I am probably not going to be anymore. Let me disclose somethings that they do NOT disclose until you are already done: 1. If you bring in an outside pair of glasses, because you don't like what they have in stock - they will charge you at least $20 - even if they are filling the script and you are their patient. You brought in a pair of glasses that was not purchased through their store. 2. If you get cataract surgery, and you later need a pair of readers, they sold my father an (81 year old man) readers that cost over $700 which could have been purchased OTC for less than $50. 3. Also, if you wear contacts - they will charge you $85 - not covered by most insurance. Doesn't matter that your prescription hasn't changed, they just want the additional $85 - as "there are materials involved," so I was told. I don't recall anything different from any other eye exam. It ended with, "we have to renew your prescription." So there it is - $85 to renew prescriptions.
