Not recommended. Complained to AZ State Medical Board over him forging false information onto my medical records. Very Scary!

Quality of care 5/5++ Ruthie provided great care and service who exemplifies what great patient bedside manners look like. She thoughtfully explained everything. Ruthie is the type of care provider who represents the practice and professional well. Updated After checkout I was waiting for my ride in the upstairs waiting area by the elevator and an elderly gentleman went to a window clearly upset and appeared confused. It was not hard to hear him he projected loudly. The young woman working that window spent time with him using outstanding interpersonal skills to calm him down. He needed extra attention to help address his questions. I witnessed her locating facilities located loser to our location and providing him All the information necessary to address his concerns. This was over the span of 15 minutes. When he left I approached her window to offer a fist bump a tell her she was awesome! That was an amazing display of kindness, empathy I rarely see. As someone who was very athletic, it was incredibly difficult and frightening. Dr. Vranic and his office performed multiple surgeries on me, and every time I was treated with exceptional skill, care, and compassion. Because of him, I was able to heal, move forward, and truly live again -- he gave me my life back. I am endlessly grateful for Dr. Vranic and his entire office. Everyone treated me with professionalism and genuine kindness. I especially want to thank his medical assistant, Stephanie, who went above and beyond to support me and my family. She made us feel like family and took incredible care of me every step of the way. I cannot recommend Dr. Vranic highly enough. He is truly the best, and I will always be thankful for everything he has done for me.

I do not recommend Western Vascular Institute if you want empathetic patient care. I went to this…read moreestablishment for 4 total surgeries, 2 of which are incomplete due to my experience and will now have to be postponed till I can find a new vascular center. After paying Western Vascular to assist with my FMLA documentation in order to proceed with my surgery and protect my job, I experienced the worst customer service treatment all due to my FMLA request. They made getting the proper time off extremely challenging as if I was a child requesting unnecessary time off of school. I had many difficulties even getting my FMLA approved in the first place and when I explained that I needed one extra day of recovery (the literal next day after my surgery) due to still feeling pain and groggy from the pain relief medication and lack of sleep. I was scolded by Stephanie and made to feel bad about the amount of medication I was given for my SURGERY as I "should not need that much rest and still be able to work the day after my procedure". Thus, Stephanie directed that next time I have less of my much NEEDED and NECESSARY medication next surgery so I can seemingly work the next day and not ask for FMLA. To my surprise, Stephanie would then notate in my chart that I requested less pain relief for my upcoming surgery as seemingly punishment. A choice that I never gave proper informed consent for. To my knowledge Stephanie was a front desk associate and not capable of making medical decisions without physician approval and was just giving me a hard time because I wanted another FMLA day. Unfortunately for me, my next surgery would be EXTREMELY and UNNECESSARILY painful because I was then given less pain medication during an AWAKE surgery as per Stephanie's request that falsely said I requested it. After explaining to the doctor and nurses what had occurred Dr. Vranic said that Stephanie should not have been able to take on the authority to make medical decisions for me and that he did not care how much FMLA I requested. He stated that the front office told him I asked for 2 weeks off, not one day an utter LIE to make me appear as a difficult patient. Dr. Vranic said he would discuss the situation with the front office, however there has been no resolution or indication anything has been done to rectify this matter. My daughter then proceeded to call Shana, a manager who stated she was the one who helped me with my FMLA documentation and "worked very hard to get me my time off" as if it was such a burden and not their job. Even though the doctor directly told me he would approve 2 weeks off if that's what I wanted. Though, Shana said she worked tirelessly to just get me one extra day off. The discrepancies in this office is insane. I explained to Shana my traumatic experience after experiencing extreme pain and anguish unnecessarily during my second surgery due to Stephanie's punishment. An experience that even made the nurses and doctors feel bad for me while performing the surgery. Shana made excuses and said I agreed to the amount of pain medication Stephanie directed thus there was no punishment that occurred and I simply lacked trust in the office. At no time did Shana seem empathetic or concerned with my patient care solely defending her staffs choices and arguing against any complaint I made. She then directed I not proceed with any of my further treatments that I waited months to receive and delay treatment because I "did not trust the staff". At no time did I receive an apology or was made to feel that anyone cared that I had suffered a traumatic experience, completely avoidable and seemingly retaliatory behavior for asking for another FMLA day. While the doctor and nurses were very carrying and empathetic, the front office staff completely ruined my experience and has no empathy for their patients. On numerous occasions I have heard front desk speak inappropriately about patients while just waiting in the office to be called back. The entire front of the house is full of what appears to be a mean girls club and you will feel that. If this establishment wants any way to salvage their business they need to address the inappropriate and mean-spirited behavior of the front office, after all this is a medial establishment and not a highschool. The professionalism of some of their staff is so poor I am unsure how the doctors allow them to continue working with a vulnerable population.

I found out this information from the new vascular surgeon I chose for a follow-up appointment as requested by Modern Vascular. They have had me as a patient for a few years, but I got suspicious after so many angioplasties and their request that I get another. So I went with a different surgery center for my ultrasounds, and surprise surprise, I don't need angioplasty in either leg. Luckily, I don't believe any great harm was done to me.

They have a sign posted at the front desk stating "Our Valued Patients and Family Members - At this time when the news is dominated by COVID-19, we want to let you know that we are vigilantly implementing enhanced protocols to ensure your safety". It goes on to say they're monitoring and implementing recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control. From what I saw, nothing could be farther from the truth. I saw no social distancing, no germ abatement techniques being used, and no cleaning supplies available in the waiting area nor at the front desk (I asked for them). Keeping in mind the nature of this practice, their clientele are elderly. There was no temperature monitoring before entry into the crowded waiting room (it is relatively small). The other 3 doctors I've taken my mother to in the past 8 weeks ALL required temperature checks - without them you could not enter their buildings. As it should be! There were 3 staff sitting at the small reception desk, each one being only 2 to 3 feet apart. Throughout the time we were there, no one was even remotely attempting to keep 6 feet apart. None of the many staff I saw wore a mask! The door leading from the waiting room into the examination area required using a door handle. When I asked the reception attendees if they had disinfecting wipes so I could clean the handle, they said they did not. Where are those "vigilant enhanced protocols"? They're not even following the basic recommendations when no one is social distancing, no one is wearing a mask, and there are no readily available cleaning supplies in a small reception area of a business that is processing a high volume of extremely at-risk patients? Unbelievably irresponsible and putting those patients lives at risk if you ask me! We left without services, of course.
