This fascinating little museum is a great day out trip from central London. There's also an aquarium, a butterfly house, and an extra exhibit (currently Lego sculptures) that you can pay to visit. The museum grounds are a great place to walk around. There are some really stunning views of the city center, plus a small farm, and lots of walking trails. This place was absolutely teeming with children, so it would be a great place to bring your little ones to run around. The grounds seem like a perfect place for a picnic - bring your own food or pick up something from the museum cafe.

The Visitor Centre cafe is in a modern building, and has lots of seats (it would be rare to arrive…read moreand not find anywhere to sit) - just as well, as the place is popular with cyclists and with walkers, who can park their cars at the centre before exploring the Darenth Valley Path, or the nearby Castle or Villa. For warm days, there is also some seating outside. I cycle to the Visitors Centre several times a year, usually on a Sunday with other members of my cycling club. Lullingstone is not as popular as other cafes in the area, but is good enough, I suppose. Whereas other cafes sell tea in big mugs, at Lullingstone you get tea in a pot (with no further pot hot water to top it up and make the tea bags "go a little further"). The selection of cakes or snacks that are such a staple of club cyclists is also disappointing - mostly standard off-the-shelf choices. It is not at the cheap end of the scale when it comes to teas and coffees either.

Anna was knowledgeable about Paris and engaged us by asking questions, making the tour more engaging. Our day began with a warm welcome at LE PAIN QUOTIDIEN, a cozy coffee shop located inside the train station. Here, we received our train tickets and went through the Eurostar system to scan our passports and belongings. Once inside the train, we met our tour guide, Anna, who was incredibly welcoming and provided clear instructions about our meeting point outside the train in Paris at the Gare du Nord. Upon arriving in Paris, we boarded a spacious, air-conditioned tour bus that took us to various locations. Our itinerary included a panoramic sightseeing tour of Paris, a relaxing 1-hour canal cruise by Bateaux Parisiens along the Seine River, a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, and a delightful 3-course lunch with wine at the Eiffel Tower restaurant (if an upgrade option was chosen). We also had ample time for shopping near the Louvre Pyramid. A tip for the canal cruise: the best seats are on the top deck on the left-hand side. She gave tons of great advice and we look forward to coming back to enjoy some of the areas we stopped in further. Jermaine was a great driver. Smooth ride. I typically get horrible motion sickness when riding as a passenger so my husband and I were shocked that I survived! I do wish we could have spend a bit more time in each area but, the time allotted was typical for guided tours. Definitely a great choice to get better familiar with the areas.

This visitors centre is a great place. It's beautifully if modestly presented with a few small exhibits and a few things to keep children busy. It also has a range of surprisingly cheap and tasteful souvenirs that dismayed my fridge-magnet collecting friend as 'not tacky enough'. The gems of the place though are the staff who were so helpful and informative in showing us routes and supplying us with maps for our walk. They really helped us and made our little day trip. She really loved knowing everyone and made sure each of us was well taken care of. Bogdan got us where we needed to be on time and very safely. When the tour began, Pauline told us we would all become friends. She was right. When we disembarked for the last time, there were so many tears as we all said goodbye. I hope to stay in touch with everyone in our group. And when I hear Willie Nelson's "On the road again", I will remember my time in Europe.
