Firo, our tour guide was truly the best! He took the time to learn all of us in the group, 45 in total! He was kind, patient, accommodating and helpful. He made the trip fun, included everyone and ensured no one got lost or left behind. He had a great sense of humor and truly ensure our safety and wellbeing throughout the 12 days he guided us! He took the time to take us to hidden gems and amazing photo opportunities!! He also gave us insight to every stop we were making! Neither myself nor my husband had traveled abroad and had genuine concerns and fears. Firo put everyone of to rest and taught us so much. He also did a great job organizing and rescheduling events as the weather and traffic changed but never to the detriment to our experience. He somehow managed to take 45 people from 6 different countries and make us one, cohesive, supportive family that now has lifelong friendships!!! I would be remiss if I didn't include our coach driver Damian who managed to take a huge coach down the tiny streets of Italy and France and make it look like easy! He was friendly, safe, and accommodating to our various personal comforts and ensure we all felt secure and safe in every location! Damian and Firo also had a great relationship! They got along well and worked seamlessly together! If I could hand pick another driver and leader for my next adventure it would be Firo and Damian.

I recently returned from my 2nd tour with Expat. I thoroughly enjoyed both tours and felt like part of a big family. I have been on tours with several other companies and I feel that Expat offers excellent itineraries for a fraction of the price of other tour operators, while maintaining the quality hotels, meals, and walking/driving tours of each city we visit. You do have the option to add on the optional excursions like you do with any other company and these always cost extra but are always worth the extra money. I found WhatsApp super easy to communicate with their customer service team and they also have an option on their website to book a call back which I also took advantage of a couple of times when I had questions about my bookings. Every time I spoke to any of their reps, they were always friendly and ready to help. The tour leaders I had were both incredible. They were upbeat, friendly, had a positive attitude, and made an effort to make sure everyone on tour was having a positive experience. I would definitely recommend Expat for your next tour. I can't wait to travel with them again!

Pauline and Bogdan took such excellent care of every member of our group. Pauline got to know everyone in a genuine way. She really loved knowing everyone and made sure each of us was well taken care of. Bogdan got us where we needed to be on time and very safely. When the tour began, Pauline told us we would all become friends. She was right. When we disembarked for the last time, there were so many tears as we all said goodbye. I hope to stay in touch with everyone in our group. And when I hear Willie Nelson's "On the road again", I will remember my time in Europe. read more

Good itinerary, good and safe driver, sweet tour guide, but accommodations were terrible, bugs in beds, no separated beds for double occupancy, food selection was below par. I would do the tour again or recommend to my clients if they change the accommodations and included food stops. read more

I just finished the Ireland tour with Mike and Mike. It was fantastic with two excptions. 1) The seat rotation was not followed or enforced. Even though the tour leader mentioned it often, no one followed it. Sad for those of us that had to stay at the back of the bus the entire trip. And 2) Most of the excursions were just okay but, I really wanted to go on the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and we just drove past. As in my last tour review, I would love to be able to pay for all of the excursions before the tour. I'm not sure why this is not an options but, it seems a little antiquated. Our tour leader had to spend an enourmous amount of time hounding folks for thier payment instead of spending time telling us about what was next or having fun with us like he so often did. I feel like this is an easy area to improve. All in all, it was a good tour. read more

ExpatExplore is the best coach guided tour, a budget friendly and easy to process. As a first timer we have an awesome experience, we got the Europe taster and it was an impressive and awesome fast-paced tour. Very systematic and we have the best driver Robi, we have a smooth journey all through out. We have a sweet tour guide Pauline. I enjoyed every moment and we have the best group, full of life, friendly and awesome people, I will definitely recommend Expatexplore. Our 7 days is fast and limited, can't wait to go back and explore more and travel again with Expatexplore. read more

Saw many things, even more than expected! Long days with zero free time if you take all the excursions, not necessarily a bad thing but very exhausting. Most of our group developed illnesses. Communication before the trip was a challenge. read more

Update to previous review. Owner reached out and expressed remorse and promised to take care of the situation. Customer service promptly sent over a note apologizing and let me know is a refund was in process and would be completed in 7-14 days. We are now on day 24 with no further response. Had to reach out again, new excuse "we have recently migrated to a new system and it is taking some time to process". No new date provided. I do believe the owner is trying to do the right thing... at least by appearances. However the staff delays, makes excuses, and really just won't do what they say. read more

We just got back from our trip 'Europe Jewel's with Expatexplore (EJ240524) with a tour guide Ken and a driver Jeff. The tour started on May 24 2024. The trip could have been very good if we had a different guide. Our guide Ken was a very cold, unfriendly person who didn't care about people, their requests or problems. One girl got lost during the excursion. We don't know what happened to her. Some people were abandoned, lost and returned to the group on their own... Ken even mentioned that 7 people were lost during one of his tours... It's just that this fact is very frightening. We have traveled with other tour companies and safety has never been an issue, but not in this tour with Expat and Ken. Another point worth mentioning: it was very cold on the bus, people were wearing hats. We and the other people in the group asked Ken several times to adjust the temperature to a comfortable temperature, but there was no action on his part. As a result, some people got sick. Many complained about the constant music on the bus. Everyone should understand that this tour is very eventful, with a lot of walking every day. People need to take a nap while sitting on the bus. With constant music, it is impossible to rest. Despite people's requests for a break from music, nothing has changed. We were told that the bus is the office of the driver and guide, they can listen to music anytime they want! They don't care, people don't want that music all the time! Some people didn't make it to the dinner they paid for because they got lost on the way... We believe that people like Ken cannot work as a group guide at all. This was our first experience with Expat and it was very disturbing and tense because of Ken's dismissive attitude towards the group members. We could have had a much better experience with expats if we had a different guide, but unfortunately we experienced the worst. After reading the reviews of other travelers with expats, we can see that this is a normal scenario from this company. ;( We recommend staying away from expats and traveling with other companies that prioritize travelers' comfort and safety! Save your money and nerves! read more

They claim to have a 30 day full refund policy but it took a month for me to be refunded. I kept getting the run around and given excuses as to why my trip hadn't been refunded yet. Everyone would give you a different reason for the delay. Coincidentally, I was refunded shortly after I threatened to file a claim with my bank and did so. Thanks to Expat, my credit score went down for having a large outstanding balance for all that time, and I'm trying to buy a home. I think a dodged a bullet by not traveling with them based on how terrible the customer service is. read more

We are booked for the Great Britain tour in August (38531). I am starting to feel nervous about our booking as the communication I have received to date has been inaccurate and disorganized. I have had to submit my IPI information twice and then had to call and ensure that the information had been saved. I have also had to reconfirm that the one solo traveller (my daughter) will NOT be sharing a room with any other travellers. We opted in for the private room upgrade and yesterday i received the payment form, that detail is missing amongst other inaccuracies. I am becoming skeptical and uneasy about how the rest of this trip is going to go. Regretting booking with Expat at this point and will consider cancelling and forgoing my deposit at this point and booking elsewhere. read more

Our tour was great, as well as our tour guide. Saw lots of great places. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. However, the choice of hotels wasn't the best. Most were 3 star or less. Location was always outside the city center which means if you didn't do the optional excursions you had to find your own way into the city. The hotel choice in Paris was awful. Not in a great area and small and unclean. My husband ended up with some k8nd of bites all over him. Pay the extra and go with a higher quality tour. read more

We took the uk 7 day tour with Expat Explore in 2017. I do want to mention that the UK is amazing and I loved visiting there. During the tour I was less than pleased with the Tour leader Mike and some of the accommodations. It was obvious to us that the company "sizes up" the members of the tour group and gives rooms according to their observations. We were always given our keys last and our rooms were 1 or 2 star at best. We had tour mates that raved about how lovely their rooms were but we were sleeping on beds that you could literally see the springs through the sheets. And, the rooms were old , dark, small, and dreary. It seemed that they were doing this to save money and try to encourage some people to rebook with them again. I didn't want to use them again but I wanted to be fair and thought I will try again in another country/region. I just returned from the Copenhagen to Helsinki 13 day tour. Scandinavia is amazing and the people are wonderful. That being said, I won't be using Expat Explore again. Although the accommodations were nice this time we experienced the issues with the Tour leader Inga and the optional excursions (which are extra charges). First, the tour leader: she did the least that she possibly could to inform and direct us. Public transportation was the main travel in the cities and she didn't inform us of etiquette for the trains and railway stations. We didn't want to be annoying tourists but we ended up that way and learning the hard way. There was ample free time but limited information and direction for the best way to utilize our time. She was from the region and should have been a rich source of knowledge and information. She did buddy up to a group of people and gave them tips. We however were not in the loop. Next, we were told that there would be hand sanitizer provided but it wasn't. Everyone was supposed to stay in their assigned seats(covid19 precautions)in the bus which was the case until two people in the front (close to the tour leader and driver) came down with a respiratory illness and then they moved to the rear of the bus. They had masks but they weren't made to wear them. We were in the back and I became sick with covid19 upon our return home. Others were getting sick as well the last two days. That was irresponsible to allow people to change seats and I question if they were directed to do so. The overnight ferries were not great. I feel like we wasted a lot of time on traveling by Ferry and coach after getting to Sweden. Stockholm was a waste as well since our hotel was a 25 minute drive from the city and nothing of interest in the vicinity. The staff at the hotel told us it wasn't safe at night around the hotel. Since we were dropped off by the coach in Stockholm with no real direction for things to do we wandered around in the same areas close to the pick up point. We surely didn't want to be left behind and have to find a way back to the hotel. To sum it up, they're cheap and cut corners wherever they can. Their tour leaders are salespeople who sell you on optional excursions that are overpriced. We had one free optional that Inga our tour leader talked down and convinced everyone to skip. I guess she wanted more of her own free time. I will be trying out another company next time. Not taking a third chance on this outfit. read more

I choose to do a 7 day UK Tour with my son, who wanted to see Great Britain, Scotland and Wales. I had done a similar but 2 week tour years ago with my husband. I knew I didn't want to drive to Loch Ness and back. Our tour leader was Laura and driver Joe. They were both super friendly, organized, helpful and fun. Laura did her best to make sure everyone was taken care of, and problems were avoided. Joe was a talented driver. He parallel parked the bus!! WRT the tour, the last 3 days just had too long driving, and the hotel room in Liverpool was too small for 2 people to move around in. I gave it 4 stars because of logistics. Stops were timed well but it felt like every one was at a shop. Because of traffic, we didn't have much time to explore in Liverpool, or Cardiff. All in all it was enjoyable and a good choice. read more

I have been on 2 tours with Expat explore thus far and just booked my 3rd for May. Last year I did the 12 day Italian delights tour and the 18 day Europe explorer tour. I've seriously had some of the best times of my life on their tours. I've made so any friends on tour and I was lucky enough both times to have "Shabby" as my tour guide. Not only does this gal know her history, but she also knows where to find all the best eats, and she's also extremely helpful and always full of good vibes... probably because she loves her job so much! Who wouldn't, right?! The tours themselves are just wonderful! Not only do we travel around in a clean comfy tour bus to all the best destinations, but we actually get to sleep in real hotels! Not uncomfortable hostels full of partying college kids. Some of the hotels were even located on the water with stunning views! Their tours also offer various amazing experiences many included for free, and others at a fair price. There is something for everyone, but please take my advice and always go on the boat rides! The best way to see a place is always from the water. Their tours also include all breakfasts and several dinners... many of which are truly delicious! Expat explore made it possible for me to see some most beautiful places in Europe. Something I never thought I could afford (or even feel safe doing) as a solo traveler. I don't know how they make their tours such a great value... but I do know that I'll continue to travel with them and take advantage of their unbeatable deals (trust me I've done hours of research they offer the best value for price). I'm an expat explorer for life. read more

Great tour of Ireland, Went all the way around the Island from Dublin to Belfast, to Galway, Ring of Kerry, Killarney to Waterford and back. 7 day tour lead by Kerry, a very sweet guide. Saw so many sites and ate some great breakfast. Great value for the money. Stayed at some excellent hotel including Lake hotel with a view and Jacuzzi from your room. The breakfast is included every day. The Guide Kerry is very organized and took us to Blarney castle early to kiss the stone, since we arrive very early, we didn't wait too long to kiss the Blarney stone !!! its usually a huge line. The included meal were good and filling. The bus coach is very roomy and nice. Kind of surprised me about this tour is that for the price I paid , it should be hostel grade with bad food, but NO, Much better than my expectation. Will use again in future tours. Highly recommended !!! read more

We traveled from the US to Egypt from 7/24/2019 through 8/4/2019. We booked the 9 day Nile Adventure tour through Expat Explore which uses Timeless in Egypt. Essentially, we learned that Expat Explore & Timeless are the same thing in Egypt. Our guide was Kerolos (AKA Kero the Hero). The itinerary was fantastic! Kero was an incredible tour guide; always patient, smiling and taking traveler questions or concerns seriously. We did some side stuff with other guides and while they were all incredibly knowledgeable and overall very guide, Kero was the best! Definitely plan to book with Expat again. read more

My husband and I took this trip to the Maldives for our honeymoon, and it was disastrous. Right from the start, we were told we would have no guide- its not really a "tour" without a tour guide, but at the time this was fine with me... until all the problems later on that couldn't be sorted out because we didn't have a guide in country. The accommodations in Male and Maafushi were basic but ok, and we really enjoyed Maafushi, though I know others in the group were not thrilled about no drinking and not being allowed to wear a bikini. Thank goodness we did some great scuba diving in Maafushi, because despite that expat advertises 6 scuba dives on the safari boat, that was not available. When we boarded the boat, we found out (half a day out to sea on a dingy, poorly maintained, tiny fishing boat, when we finally got enough english out of the crew to find out that this was actually our sea safari boat!) we found out there was no scuba gear. Nor was there even any snorkel gear! What are you supposed to do on a boat for 3 days in the Maldives if you can't scuba or even snorkel? This was NOT the boat advertised and pictured by expat- large and luxurious sailing yacht- this was a small fishing boat with barely seating room for the passengers- the crew had to stand all day. There were only 4 loungers for 10 people, so we couldn't even lay in the sun, and the cabins were so full of exhaust fumes we couldn't sleep in there either. That's right, our cabins were full of exhaust fumes. We couldn't sleep in them, and could barely stand to be in there long enough to change clothes. So, no privacy on our honeymoon! Besides the safety issue of the cabin fumes, there were no life jackets, life rings, first aid kit, or lifeboat. None. At all. To top it all off, the crew made constant rude noises, gestures, and leered at the female passengers when we wore bathing suits. When we realized all these problems and that we were trapped on this boat for 3 days, our group first tried to contact someone via the crew- who didn't really understand what we were asking because they spoke very little english, and they refused to call an international number- and since we had no guide, our only hope to fix this was calling expat in the UK, and off by several time zones! Fortunately, one member of our group had a cell phone capable of making the calls, but Expat was completely unwilling to help. First we were lied to and told that we had never been promised diving or snorkeling or a "luxury yacht", even though all of those were explicitly stated in the advertising and were the reason most of our group booked the tour. Then we were told it was the "island mentality" and they couldn't do anything, then we were hung up on, then after speaking to the Operations Manager, we were promised special treatment at the resort island, early check in there, and fair compensation. Early check in proved to mean getting dropped at the airport to sit around for 3 hours, to be taken to the resort to sit around for 3 more hours, to finally be able to check in at the normal time. So most of another day wasted. The resort was nice except for our rooms being a 20 min walk from any of the resort amenities, BUT Paradise Island is NOT a 5 star resort! Trip Advisor and their own website call it a 3 star resort! And it is a very nice 3 star resort, but Expat is lying calling it at 5 star resort. I've waited a month to post this review hoping it would have a happy ending- hoping I would be able to say that Expat was eager to take responsibility for all of the problems on our tour, for the waste of 3 and a half of our 8 days in the Maldives- but they again worked at not being responsive or helpful, and shoveling blame off onto their in-country partner. In the end, after a lot of fighting, headache and more wasted time, we got a pittance in compensation- the price of about 1 and a half days of the trip. Their line was "we provided you a boat, a place to sleep, and something to eat, that's all we had to do" nevermind that the boat was dangerous, in poor repair, and without safety equipment, and nevermind that the "place to sleep" turned out to be the hard plastic deck because of fumes in the cabins! So don't book with expat explore- they don't back up their trips with service, so if anything goes wrong- tough luck. read more

We saved for years for our "dream" vacation of a 17 day tour of Italy and come home shocked and numb at how hurtful that Expat Explore could be toward our family of 3. 1/2 way through the tour at 11:30 PM at night Ananda Heyl, one of Expat's board members, called me at the hotel and said that they were cancelling the rest of our tour and leaving us in Rome. Up to this point we never told we were doing anything wrong or how to change what we were doing. Please learn from our mistakes and NEVER trust this company with your precious kids or family or limited vacation time. They will stab you in the back and steal your precious memories and leave you wondering why you traveled with them. Do not book anything with this company at any price. Here are some excerpts from the letter that I sent to Ananda when I returned. They never admitted that they did anything wrong! Basically they can cancel your trip at any time for any reason! Read the fine print. You have no power once you've paid them. Tour Radar the travel agent was absolutely powerless or unwilling to help either. Stay away from them too. June 19, 2017 Ananda, We have now returned from our tour. We made the decision to go with our son and we've been saving for years and homeschooling all Italy. He's been practicing his Italian so he was ready for the trip. We chose Expat, because of the 20-30 age group and irreverent pictures. It seemed like a more laid back group that fit our style. Our goal was not to worry about the details and help our son enjoy the trip. Because of decisions made by you and your team to kick us off of the tour the night before you have completely ruined our Italy trip. You forced us for 45 minutes at 11:30 PM to grovel and beg to be kept on and even having to find other passengers that would vouch for our behavior. It's a miracle that we ran into them. The amount of stress that you caused us is immeasurable having to figure out what to do with my family in a foreign country. At no time were we presented with this possibility happening during the southern portion of the tour. At no time previous to this were we told that our behavior would be grounds for cancellation. The only time that we heard about it we were then assured by Shabby when she said that we wouldn't be a problem and she was amazed that the the company was considering this based on things that "weren't our fault". When I heard this I was amazed that it was even an issue. Expat believes their vendors more than their employees and passengers and that ruined what should have been a once in a lifetime experience. Please refund the full amount of our tour ASAP, $5,525.58 USD. After our vacation with Expat we need another one to replace the destroyed memories. Ananda, I would suggest your forward this email to all of the Expat board members so you as a company know how you would like to proceed based on your company's behavior. I look forward to your board's response within a week. I will forward this to Tour Radar at that time. read more

Our experience with Expat Explore, more specifically the Europe Escape Tour, was fantastic! Tim, our primary tour guide, was not only knowledgeable and friendly, but he helped make our 13-day/7 country experience as amazing as it was. His personality helped create the extended family (ages 14-60) we became. The whole trip was choreographed to the T, and every location was more fantastic than expected. My husband I recommend this trip to people who want a great adventure where they can see as much as they can in a short amount of time without paying a fortune. read more

We completed the European sampler and it was FANTASTIC. Although it was fast pace, It was the best way to experience Europe. The bus driver Keith was incredible. He could turn the huge bus on a dime drive the bus through the heart of the cities with ease. Carly was a fantastic tour guide who helped make the whole trip great. She really truly cared about the people on the trip. The hotels were not what we were used to being from the US, but they served the purpose since we spent little time in the room and more time in the cities. The only thing I would have like to have seen was laundry facilities. We were unable to do laundry the entire trip at any hotel. We finally had to pay for a cab both ways to a laundry mat in Rome. I enjoyed our bus mates and they added to the overall experience. I feel like I really got to experience all parts of western Europe an I know exactly where I will go back to in the future. I have told all my friends to look up Expat if you ever THINK about going to Europe. It was reasonably priced and the experience was unforgettable . read more

My experience with the European Taster package tour was disappointing due to several organizational and logistical issues. The meal planning was inadequate, with some stops limited to gas stations, which felt unacceptable for a guided tour. The dining options did not meet expectations and detracted from the overall experience. The tour company promotes additional add-ons as if they are included in the initial package, which can be misleading. Be prepared to purchase extra packages during the trip, as many key activities and sights are not covered by the base tour price. Without these add-ons, you may miss out on significant portions of the experience. Our tour guide, Antonio, was overly talkative on the bus microphone, speaking almost continuously during long drives, such as an 8-hour journey on a monotonous freeway. This made it difficult to relax, and he seemed frustrated when passengers tried to rest, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. On a positive note, certain destinations, like Switzerland and the Netherlands, were breathtaking and a highlight of the trip. The tour guide was helpful in guiding us about the many pickpocketers, especially in Paris. I strongly recommend avoiding the London meeting point for this tour. Starting in London added unnecessary travel time, including a 3-hour ferry across the English Channel, without any exploration of the city itself. Meeting the group in Paris is a far better option to maximize your time and experience. The tour schedule allows very limited time in most cities, often only two hours or less, which feels insufficient to fully explore or appreciate the destinations. The hotels, while primarily used for sleeping, were adequate but had notable issues. Specifically, the accommodations in Germany lacked hot water in the bathrooms, which was inconvenient. In Amsterdam, after a long day of touring, I encountered an issue with the hotel room where the shower drain overflowed during use. Hotel staff addressed the problem, but the experience was disruptive and far from relaxing. Overall, while some locations were stunning, the poor planning and overly verbose guide made this tour less enjoyable than anticipated. The tour guide would constantly overpromise and underdeliver. I hope future tours address these issues for a better experience. read more
I'm a fan of Expat Explore because they make travel affordable. I'm so glad to have found them and had a good experience with them. I was a little wary to book with a tour group I had never heard of, but they appeared to have good reviews. In the end, it was a good experience. We toured with them on a 15 day trip to England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and North Ireland. It was great to have everything planned so we could just enjoy the ride. We had so much fun with our fellow travelers from all over the world. The days were PACKED. We had early mornings every morning and often didn't get into our hotels until late in the evening. But it was worth it to see so many places in 15 days. It was not luxury travel. We were responsible for handling our luggage, unlike other tours I've done before. The hotels were fine, although some were better than others. For the price we paid, it was a great value with everything we saw and the number of meals that were included. I would travel with them again and look forward to booking my next tour. They offer really good Black Friday deals. ****** One thing I would NEVER do again, though, is book airport transfers through Expat Explore. We did and it was a mistake. Instead of making things easier, the price was more than double what it should have been and it was a terrible experience. Expat Explore provided the WRONG name and contact number of the person who would pick us up. The person who actually did pick us up was late, couldn't find us in the airport, and extremely unprofessional. Then Expat Explore scheduled our pre-paid return trip from the WRONG HOTEL. When we figured out their mistake and contacted them, they only told us to again call the WRONG number they had given us to try to fix it directly with the driver. Uh, what? After we called the wrong number again and the person again told us they had nothing to do with our transportation, Expat Explore told us there was nothing they could do and we had to find a ride for ourselves. We had to scramble at the last minute to find our own transportation to the airport. It was not a fun way to end our trip when we were already exhausted. It took some effort on our end, but Expat Explore eventually refunded our pre-paid return trip to the airport. read more

Morocco was beautiful, and I really enjoyed my trip. Our guide, Aziz, was great! This was my third tour with Expat, and I would rank it #3 on my list. First, I have to say that the excursions were not worth the cost. The only one I would recommend is the Ruins -- everything else felt overpriced and underwhelming. the seafood optional was definitely not worth the price. Don't expect a full seafood spread; it was just two small pieces of fried fish and a pile of shrimp. Again, no choices for other meal options. Food options were very limited. You don't get to choose your meals, even on the paid excursions. The farewell dinner was my least favorite out of all the tours I've done. For one, we had to pay for it -- unlike other Expat tours where the farewell and welcome dinners are included. And second, we weren't given any meal choices. On my other tours, we could pick from a few options. On the Morocco tour, it's basically, "you eat what we place in front of you -- and we charge you for it." The tour also felt rushed, with too many one-night stays and long bus rides. We spent hours traveling just to visit a town like Fes, where we walked through the Medina but had no time to shop. Honestly, I think Fes could be eliminated from the itinerary so that we could spend an extra day in the desert instead -- Fes felt like a total waste of time. The desert was the highlight of the tour for me. However, we arrived around 6 p.m. and had to leave early the next morning at 8 a.m., so we didn't get much time there. The whole group agreed that we would've loved to stay longer and do more activities, but that wasn't an option. The bus rides were extremely long -- back-to-back 8-hour drives. I think a short flight should be included in the itinerary to break up the travel time. The hotels were wonderful, clean, modern, and comfortable. We also barely spent any time in Casablanca -- just a quick visit to the mosque before hopping back on the bus to the next town. I'd recommend arriving a few days early or staying a few days after the tour if you want to actually explore Casablanca. Finally, bring good walking shoes. Most of the restaurants are not near where the bus can park, so you'll be walking quite a bit to and from dinner. read more

Good morning Our tour guide Meena, whilst on the bus chatted way too much which gave us limited time at the sites. He got frustrated/angry when we continued to ask questions, which clearly denoted that we didnt understand fully what he was saying along with the fact that there was elderly couple whose third language was English. Our first night at the motel and the presentation of the schedule was way too wordy, many had difficulty in understanding what he was presenting, perhaps he could have used a white board to explain the daily costs and itinerary, two and a half hours later I was still confused. At the sites, Meena continued to walk ahead of us, and at one point I was quite overwhelmed as we were in a busy area, and he was nowhere to be found. At Abu Simble he continued to present us with information, even though one of the men in our tour was nowhere to be found. We had to pay for water on the Nile cruise, this is ludicrous as the most important thing we needed was water. The breakfast boxes were just awful; however, Im not sure what else could have been done, however two bread rolls with cheese and a bruised apple were inadequate. Our last night ended with us eating cake, filling out a form and handing him cash. Perhaps a small dinner would have been a better and more conducive way to end our group tour. Highlights included (obviously) the sites we went too, the Nile cruise was fantastic, a highlight and very relaxing. The accommodation at the Pyramids by Jazz was wonderful. Perhaps Meena could have provided a written copy of the schedule along with daily information pertaining to the sites that we were going to attend. Anyway these are my thoughts with regards to the frustration that many of us felt with Meena, although I doubt that anyone (besides myself) will voice their concerns. read more

Guide - 5 stars Driver - 4 stars Trip - 3 stars I knew before hand that this will be a trip with long driving days and mostly one night stays. However, you have to adjust this trip for this time of the year. Nobody wants to see a city when it is dark and early the next morning you have to leave early. Keep in mind that we were mostly older travellers. According to the guide this is the case on most trips. Why don't you make this a more relaxed trip and add a few days, one night in Kotor, or arrive midday, with enough time to explore - even on your own. You can even discard Budapest because it is part of one of your other trips and Hungary is not really a Balkan country. Sarajevo - I did not have time to go into the history of the war e.g see the war tunnels and visit a war museum Belgrade - complete disaster, we did not even see the church that was on the sticker ! I asked Will if we can do a 5 min stop the following morning just to take a photo from the outside. He asked Panos but the latter had some or other reason for not doing it. That was really bad. Good stuff: it is a very informative trip, the local guides gave so much information about the history of the different cities and countries. The Albanian night was amazing, that is why I tour to these countries, for the history and the culture. I like the fact that you give so much detail before hand, the brochure etc. I love the stickers. Just a pity that I will probably not do any of your other tours because of the long driving days and not enough time in the cities. Kind regards read more

I have NEVER written a bad review for a company before and truly hate being the "Karen" customer, but I am so saddened by my experience with Expat Explore Travel. I spent thousands of dollars to go on the South Africa Escape - 14 Day tour. Two days before the tour, when my flight was scheduled to depart, my passport was stolen at the airport and I could no longer go on the tour. While I completely understand that I signed the terms and conditions, was required to get travel insurance, acknowledge that times are tough in the post-Covid world, etc., I thought Expat would at least offer some type of flexibility in my situation. They offered zero. No opportunity to reschedule, no coupon, nothing. I never would have expected (or even wanted) a refund, but I thought they'd at least offer SOMETHING in such unfortunate circumstances. I do not believe for a second that Expat didn't make some kind of profit off of my payment and they had no problem keeping 100% of what I paid for and telling me I'd have to rebook at full price in the future. Every person - and potential customer - who I have told about this situation has been absolutely shocked at the way it was handled. I have gone back and forth with Expat, but ultimately, keep being directed to work with my travel insurance. Again, I am aware that there are structures in place by Expat's management and legal teams to ensure the preservation of their company after the Pandemic, but I felt this was greedy, extreme and terrible customer service. read more

The tour was okay, I was not fully aware that this train tour was a full public transportation tour. No private transport, only trains, subway, trolleys. I understood it to be a train tour between spots. The guide we had Peter, he was just okay. He walked so fast which was not really an issue for me but he lost people behind him because of it. You could tell he was just kinda doing this as a job. He did perk up however in Budapest cause he knew he was home as he was handing out his tip envelopes. I asked a couple times in the begining about places and basic directions and he told me to look at google maps. So, I chose after that to not join his "walking tours". I did a better job on my own. I would not recommend him as a tour guide unless he puts his energy into it and perks up. The hotels we stayed at were 2 star hotels at best until we were at the end in Budapest and they gave us an upgrade in hotels. Expat uses this chain called B&B hotels. Very very budget, it had what you needed but they were also so off the beaten path it takes 20-30 minutes to get to city center or anything you want to see. That was not cool. So you need to walk 20-30 minutes or take public transport. If you are looking for a budget way to travel this is a good option. If you are used to a bit more comfort, than this is not for you. I will not be using Expat again. read more

This was our second tour with Expat Explore, the first being A Taste of Spain, which we enjoyed immensely. Our good experience along with a 10% discount on future tours prompted us to do the "trip of a lifetime" to Japan and we were not disappointed. It was 13 high octane days of discovery and by the end of the tour you felt that you had come to appreciate all that the Japanese culture has to offer. There was never a dull moment which our tour guide, Jamie, made sure of with more information on each highlight than any one person can possibly absorb. Our driver and assistant tour guide were excellent. All the hotels were of a high standard and offered both western and Japanese style breakfast. As long as you are reasonably fit and able to walk around towns, castles, temples, museums and shops, all in the same day, then you will be fine. We are in our seventies and found the pace to be high intensity but certainly doable and would not hesitate to recommend it to others in the same age group. The other guests ranged in age from the twenties through to the seventies and by day three you know each and every one of them! Again, many thanks to Jamie and the crew for making this trip so special and one which we will never forget. We're already looking at what else Expat Explore has to offer for our next adventure. read more

My tour was Egypt and Jordan, with the Nile Cruise. A totally amazing experience. First of all, the tour guides in Egypt were excellent. I cannot thank Rames enough for his kindness and thoughtfulness to all of the group, especially to the older members; always making sure they were never left behind. The hotels with one exception were excellent and in terms of the problems with that hotel, the guides stepped in to ensure our comfort. I have never been to that part of the world so, to say I was amazed, is an understatement. Our guides knew the history and shared with us in an easily digestible manner - because of course there was a lot of history to unpack! Tour buses in Egypt do need some improvement in terms of comfort, especially as there were some not inconsiderable distances to cover. Jordan's buses were of a much better standard. A special mention of the Nile boat cruise - it was simply amazing. I didn't know what to expect, and was so impressed by everything. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, this is a tour that shouldn't be missed. An excellent first experience. Thank you. read more

Review Just finished the Europe Highlights Tour last month! My mom and I had a fantastic time and really loved getting to see more of Europe! Our guide Firo was amazing and really made sure we all felt like one big family on the tour. Everything was so organized and Firo went above and beyond to make sure everyone on board had a wonderful experience-from taking the time to get to know everyone on board to making schedule changes on the go when needed, to make sure we all had the best trip possible! Of course I can't forget to mention our superstar driver Gaby, who navigated some twisty, narrow roads and big city traffic getting us to each stop safely! Customer service was great and always got back to me! Anytime I had a question or inquiry I would send an email and would always hear back from someone within a few days. This was my 2nd Expat Tour and I can't wait to start planning and book my next tour with them! I recommend Expat to all my friends and family! read more

We had a fantastic experience. Kudos to our guide, Brandon and driver, Sylvian. Those gentlemen took good care of us, ensuring that we were always accounted for, even when we were late, waited patiently. Sylvian's driving skills were impeccable. Not once did he give us concern for our safety. Wide streets, narrow streets, hazardous road conditions, our entire road trip was in capable hands. Brandon's knowledge and historical accounts were fascinating. He was ready with answers, provided adequate details and made himself available to meet our needs. ExpatExplore did well in hiring them. Oh, one disappointment - not enough time in Munich. This is to popularly named place to visit for just a few hours. That visit needs at least a full day and night. Not sure how Expat can revise its schedule to meet that need. read more

We had an great trip exploring so many sites, beautiful scenery and friendly people throughout Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Findland. Lukasz Trzebiatowski, our tour leader and Bogdan, our driver went over and above to give us the best experiences! They were a great team. We signed up for all the Optional Experiences because following these two was always such a bonus. On a specific note, our overnight Ferry from Hirtshals to Bergen was cancelled due to weather. Lukasz and Bogdan quickly worked out a 'plan B' which put us on a shorter ferry from Hirtshals to Kristiansand with an included cabin/buffet and a hotel in Kristiansand. The next day we had a bonus drive to Bergen where we saw hundreds of waterfalls along the way! This was our 3rd trip with Expat Explore and we will definitely travel with them again read more

i would like to say was ok. Not great or excellent , but is everything about what we payed for , but hotels 35U$ was very bad. After all day tour we just want have a great bed to sleep and we did not have that. Hotels in Copenhagen , Bergen , Helsinky and Warsaw was great... But Stockholm (the worse) Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia was under the scores to review. The Tour manager Lukas e Peter the driver was the Best....I would recommend better seats rotation. Put a list on the door every day, and we will never have problems... The included dinner the only one i can say was very good was the last night in Warsaw...Please find better places for dinner...They usually book cheap dinner restaurants 2 levels bellow in the basements... scarry.... read more

My granddaughter and I just returned from an amazing 12 day European trip with Expat Explore. Our guide Firo was very organized, professional, knowledgeable and so much fun. He created a family out of 45 strangers and enough wonderful memories to last a lifetime. Our driver Damian was very safe, professional and also fun. He did an amazing job navigating a bus through some places I wouldn't want to drive a car. Our safety and personal preferences were always top priority. We were able to see and do so many things that I never could have done on my own. It was nice to just enjoy the moment and all the details were handled. I highly recommend Expat Explore and will definitely use them again. read more

This was our third tour with expat and it did not disappoint! We had an amazing time. Our tour guide was Willem and he was one of the best! if you get him for this tour--consider it to be well worth your while and very fun! They say a tour guide can make or break a tour--Willem exceeded this and more--he made the tour! He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his country and just fun to be around. We were able to have great conversations and learn many things about South Africa--both history and fun things! We highly recommend this tour from all aspects! Thank you, Willem, and expat for a great adventure! We are already planning the next one! read more

Sadly , I can't say that I was very impressed by either the standard of the hotels or the included dinners . Our farewell dinner in Rome was terrible , it's Italy , a million great cheap places to eat and they picked the worse and then we were "ripped" off with the drinks bill. We did all try to pay individually by card , but were refused, instead they put everything together and insisted we were short , we weren't I collected everyone's payments . and the Hotel in Rome BV Oly treated us badly because we were part of the tour , I can confirm this as I stayed a few extra days and was treated very well as a non tour client . not goof. read more

A wonderful week-long tour from start to finish. Pauline, our tour guide, was welcoming, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. Robbie, our driver, matched her energy perfectly: friendly, attentive, and truly outstanding behind the wheel. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned from day one, and even when unexpected hiccups like traffic happened, Pauline and Robbie kept us informed and reassured throughout. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone considering it. Beyond the sights and experiences, I'm especially grateful for the wonderful group of travellers I met. By the end of the week we'd formed a genuine bond. read more

First and foremost. this experience with our travel to Turkey is one of the most unforgettable experience we have encountered ever since and this is our fourth times with the Expat and Explore Travel Tours. We would like to commend our Tour Leader, Mr. Ege Ertas, our tour leader for his excellent management and displayed professionalism showed to us. Kudos to him and looking forward to our future travel with Expat Explore like him with exemplary behavior as tour leader. Thank you and more power to the Expat Explore. See you in our next adventure.... Sincerely yours; Nerio and Anna Somosierra ( Philippines) read more

Just finished the tour with Gerry our tour guide and Patrick our driver. I usually always give a rating of 5 of my trips (this was my 5th trip with Expat). Gerry was a very nice man and very knowledgeable of Ireland but he was almost always talking about the history or personal experiences with very little down time on the bus. I was also very surprised when he decided to cancel one of our excursions and substitute it with a different one where payment was given directly to the person doing the walking tour. Patrick our driver was very experienced and pleasant. He keep us safe during our drives. read more

There was a lot of ground to cover, so prepare for long days on the coach. However, it was an amazing journey learning the history of the Balkans and affording a quick look at each country, so that you can decide where you may like to come back to. Will was an excellent guide, which made it all so easy. Certainly great value for money. The dinner inclusions made our expenses really low, and my only regret is some of the cities really deserve more than one night in them. Hotels were all pretty good, coach was great, we had 44 on board and this was easily managed by the guide. Def recommend read more
