Wow-the previous reviews did make me wonder about coming here but I had outstanding service. My daughter had come over on the weekend to get some cleaning fluid to clean the carpet and we got the cleaning machine for free. She then told them about the loose filter and they said to bring it in. I brought it in today and was immediately attended and I explained the problem. The technician fixed the filter and replaced a small part on the vacuum cleaner and when it came time to pay, he said I didn't have to pay anything. Very professional and efficient!! read more

They did a good job fixing my vacuum quickly and for a fair price. However, the 2 employees weren't wearing masks and one licked his finger before grabbing my receipt to hand to me. Very unsanitary and made me feel uncomfortable, especially since the place is so small and not really a way to stay too far from the employees who aren't wearing masks. This is the first place I have been to that hasn't required masks. I wish I hadn't supported a business that disregards health recommendations and puts their customers and selves at risk. read more

This would be a 5 star review except that for the first time EVER they didn't have the kind of vacuum bag I needed. They have hundreds of sizes and brands and - until today - I thought they had every kind ever made. They do get bonus points for writing down the kind I asked for and saying they would order it in. Though I've never used their other services, if I ever needed to have my vacuum cleaner or sewing machine repaired, this is absolutely where I would take it. My 20+ year old Oreck had been serviced only once in its life. I've driven by Discount Vacuum thousands of times over the past 30 or so years and was aware of their presence but had never used their service. I decided to try them when my vacuum gave up the ghost after I had used it to remove leaves etc from my outdoor carpet. Bad move. It started making streaks all over the indoor carpet and I knew I needed professional help. The great team at Discount removed all the gunk and replaced all the completely worn out parts that had been barely doing the job for more years than I realized. Their service was fast and reasonably priced, and they even polished the exterior so it looks like new. Works like new now too!!! I picked up a rental dry carpet cleaner today 10 2 -21 and Met Mike. He was very personable. I was a little concerned due to previous reviews that we would have a problem but he has a dry kind of humor which my husband and I liked. I would definitely take the long drive from Westminster have my vacuum serviced. But since we have a patriot vacuum we probably won't be seeing much of Mike other than to rent another carpet cleaning machine. read more

They have brought my vacuum back to life twice. (Us dog owners are hard on our vacuums. Both times I was stressing about needing to buy a new $150 vacuum. They fixed it for $24 in 24 hours, both times. And the best part about that quick turn around is after procrastinating taking it in for two weeks. I have been coming here for years. Because I am in the construction business and the short term rental business, plus I have 2 dogs, all my vacuums get abused (I hate to say it but I have even inadvertently used a vacuum with no bag in it). It is much more cost effective to have these guys clean and recondition my vacuums for $80-$90 than buy new ones every year (which I used to do). The vacuums always come back to me like they are almost new - clean and working well. The turn around time is also quick, which is a plus. I really can't speak to the other reviews concerning behavior, but I can say the father and son team that work here have always been nice and respectful to me. They are not necessarily warm and fuzzy types (although I would not say they are grumps), but they I don't really care about that - they are competent and fair with their pricing. read more

I have 2 Orecks and this is the closest place to my house (by miles) that sells the bags for my vacuums. They also have tuned up my upright. Service is... well, it seems like the counter people are very put out to sell items or services. So much so that I wonder why they do what they do. I only want to pay them to do a job they offer to do. It would seem that they could hire a counter person that isn't completely lacking in social skills. Don't go here!!! 0 would be more accurate. Rude, aggressive and dishonest. I, too, felt unsafe. Brought in my vacuum for repair, was told it would be $80 & was charged $90. Got it home and it was missing parts and didn't work. When I brought it back and mentioned the missing parts the "father" (and i use the term loosely) made a rude comment. When I said there's no reason for that, he said "I said I'd f***ing fix it". Again, I told him there's no reason for his behavior, and he replied with "you like to f***ing talk, don't you?" When he called to tell me it was ready, he pretended as though nothing happened. When I picked it up, there was an older lady in the store who looked very afraid. Again, he acted as though nothing happened. Don't go here!!! These guys are dangerous. They are nice until they have your vacuum. Then they become extremely aggressive and beyond rude. I'm very happy with my repair! The owner was very helpful - I went in expecting to need to buy an inexpensive vacuum which I couldn't find there but he did offer me great tips on what to look for when I look for a new one. I ended up bringing in mine and learning nothing was broken it was just super dirty! He saved me not only by upselling me a vacuum he had there but also not having to buy a new one and having something very minor taken care of. He told me they guarantee their work for up to a year after repair and that after identifying the fault in my vacuum and attempting the repair, he wouldn't charge. This is the type of service I really appreciate, especially because he could have easily taken advantage of my lack of knowledge but took care of me for a very fair price. The owner is absolutely the most rude man. I have had 3 interactions with him over 6/7 years. The first time when he said disrespectful stuff I thought I said the wrong thing or he was having a bad day. But 2 weeks ago I went in twice and saw first hand that there is something wrong with this guy - Mike? I watched him give the woman in front of me the hardest time about her 2 vacuums that she wanted a quote for fixing. He seemed to be purposely not understanding her simple questions. He was fine to me that day and unclogged my Dyson head simply - it had a large plastic hook that had been accidentally vacuumed up. But a week later when the Dyson head stopped working again I took in and explained must be bigger problem like motor in head - he was the worst. Told me I "have an answer for everything" when I asked too many questions. Claims he "services" Dyson vacuums but doesn't "repair" and can't "buy replacement parts" ??!!! What? I see other reviewers say you fix Dysons. And there is no need to talk in such a rude way. He called me a "zitch" as I was leaving too. And trust me - I was trying to hold my patience. This guy seems to take pleasure in acting condescending to people, esp women. Not sure how he stays in business. I think the good reviews are fake because there are enough bad reviews to see he has a pattern of the same rude behavior. read more

Dropped off vacuum on a Saturday, and was told I would be called Monday with an estimate. I called the gentleman on Wednesday, and was told they were backed up and he would be unable to get to the vacuum. Then I was told to "pick it up". He did not know what was wrong with it and did not care. First tip off should have been when I dropped off the vacuum. No one said "hello", or was particularly pleasant. The belt on my small Dirt Devil came off over the weekend and I went online to find a place close by to take it in and have it put back on. What a nice surprise to find this place close by! A-Discount Vas & Sew is where you need to get your machine serviced. Mike is a very friendly man who is so knowledgeable about pretty much every machine. Recently, I took my Dyson in which had not been serviced for 10+ YEARS!!! Mike kept it for a few days & for a very reasonable price he basically returned a "like new" machine to me. It's probably not the closest store to where I currently live but I remembered it because I used to pass it on the bus everyday at work and I remembered the vacuums they had sitting out in front. They advertised they service all makes and models so I was hoping they would have-at the very least-a belt comparable to the one I needed (which was from a vacuum over 7 years old). Told me to go to target and exchange the broken vacuum for one that works, despite not having a receipt. I have been coming to this place for the past 10 years. I first brought in my sewing machine and it was left as new. They no.longer do that since the person that used to is no longer.I have brought my vacuums to them and they do an incredible job in tuning them up replacing belts or filters or simply giving them a good cleaning. I have taken my vacumes to this store for several years, to have them cleaned once a year or so, and repaired as needed. They have always done a very good job, which is why I keep going back. I just picked up my old Kirby they repaired, and I thought their price was very fair, and it was ready when they said it would be. He also showed me a couple tips to prevent the belts from burning out, as well as recommended settings for my new carpet. When I went to write this review, I was very surprised at some of the previous reviews. They are down to earth guys with a dry sense of humor.
