I'm extremely disappointed with the service at Discount Tire. I've been here for over two hours, and somehow three people have been serviced ahead of me, including two walk-ins who arrived after I did and were finished before me. When I asked the service advisor about it, I was told the order was based on walk-ins versus appointments, but that explanation clearly doesn't match what's actually happening on the floor. To make matters worse, I purchased the tire warranty package, which you would think would mean at least a reasonable level of priority or customer consideration. Instead, I've been left sitting here watching other customers come and go while my vehicle hasn't even been addressed. Customer service and communication here are extremely poor. If the system is appointments first, follow it. If it's first-come, first-served, then follow that. But the current process feels completely arbitrary and frustrating for customers who are trying to be patient. Honestly, I would recommend going to Firestone, which is literally one building before this location, if you want faster service and better customer treatment. After today's experience, I won't be returning to Discount Tire. read more

There are a very few businesses that have went out of their way to serve this customer as much as Discount Tire has, across many locations in a couple of states, even. So, really, a lot of what I have to say about this location can apply to the entire chain (at least the ones I've visited), and honestly, it's clear that this chain truly, truly puts the customer first, and I will go out of my way to shop there, literally. If there's one knock on the company, it's one that I've all but forgotten, and it's the wait time that can happen if you come in during busy times. But that's the way of the world. When you're a popular business, performing a service that's time consuming, it's going to happen. The reason I say it's all but forgotten, though, is because a while back, they implemented an online scheduling system where one can pick a time to come on based on the service you need. Upon coming in at the prescribed time, the team will get you going as soon as possible, and even if you have to wait, the waiting areas, while not lush and ornate, are clean, functional, and laid out to where you can always hear the staff when they call you. This location, I'll confess, is not the easiest to get in and out of, but that's not their fault, it's just the geography. They do make the best of the access, with signage that directs customers to keep things flowing. One of the best features, again, available at most locations, is the "Tire Check", where you can just get in a (typically short) line, drive up, and get your tires' inflation corrected, including a report on your tires sent as a text or e-mail. Sure, this is not completely altruistic - they'll be quick to suggest a sale if your tread is getting low, but you need to know that anyway, plus, they'll get you in for a repair if you have a nail or some other hidden issue. It's a wonderful service. Bottom line, Discount Tire is a great company and this location is a good example of the brand, if not one of the newest and shiniest (though, as of late 2024, they are in fact renovating the location, so it may be new by the time you see this). I had an incident where two of my tires were sliced open at the same time. I got towed to the Discount Tire at 1905 N Central Expy McKinney, TX 75070. The inside staff looked over the tires and said they'd replace both of the under warranty without a problem. I was able to talk to the Service Technician and he treated my car like it was a Maserati even though it's a 26 year old junker. Regardless, it's my everday and only driver, one owner car! I worry about other places that don't take my car seriously because of it age, 283,000 miles, looks and condition. But this Discount Tire took care of me. It was a pleasant surprise. I bought a tire from a location in San Diego, I called the location in "Eldorado" here in McKinney to order the rim but since they were far from where I am living I asked if it could be delivered to the closest location on "380" and they told me no. I called the location on "380" then to order the rim and now they told me they don't have access to the same system as the other store, I called the "Eldorado" location again asking them to share my tire information with the "380" store then, now whoever picked up the phone said they didn't have access to it and no one in the store had access to it either. This was the worse customer service I have had in a long time, a bunch of useless people behind the phone doing little to nothing to help me do something as simple as ordering a rim for my tire. If it was not cheap to get services there I would never go back, but I guess that is how this goes, they make it cheap and serve terrible customer service. read more

Today I stopped by to get some air in my tires as the recent freeze deflated them a bit. I had first stopped at the one in Prosper off 380 but their air machine was down. Drove over to this location and encountered a line. No worries though because they ran the line efficiently and I was in and out in no time. I only needed one tire that had caused the alarm in my car to go off, however they saw that my tires require 36 psi, and so they were nice enough to fill all four of my tires. Came here for a free air check (September 2025 at the location at 1905 N Central Expy in McKinney), was told (by a new-to-me employee) that all four tires registered at 35 psi (the correct level). Shortly thereafter, driving around, something felt off, so I went back (same day, same location) and asked for the tires to be checked again. He (same employee) checked the tires again and said, well, two of them are coming up at 30 psi and the other two are at 35. "Ok, can you fill the two up for me?" "Sure thing." He did his thing and I left. Very next day, something still felt off. I stopped at a QuikTrip and measured all four tires myself: 28, 30, 25 and 22 psi! (Used QT's free air to fill up all four tires.) So either the Discount Tire employee LIED about the psi on all four tires, or all four tires lost THAT MUCH air pressure in less than twenty-four hours! And, he didn't air them up at all! I expect Discount Tire to "air up" my tires when I go through their "free" drive thru, not just check them, and especially not to LIE about the levels or airing them up! My wife needed new tires for her Honda. On June 29th, we found the tires online at Discount Tire with a $75 mail-in rebate offer if purchased by June 30th. We bought them that day and scheduled the earliest available appointment--a week later. A few days before the appointment, my wife called to confirm everything: the appointment, the tires, the rebate. She was told all was good. She shows up for her 8:30 a.m. appointment--and of course, they only have three of the four tires in stock. She's then pushed into upgrading to a "better" tire that they'll sell her for the same price as the ones we originally ordered--except now without the rebate. Under pressure and short on time, she agrees. But when she gets home, we check and see there's an $80 instant discount on the new tires-- So in the end, we actually paid a bit more than we would have with the original rebate offer. It's not the money--it's the misleading tactics, the broken commitment, and poor communication. Why say the tires were in stock when they weren't? Why not call us the day before? Why make a customer wait a week and show up only to find out they've wasted their time and are forced to make a quick decision? It's like that Seinfeld rental car scene: "You know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation. And that's really the most important part." terrible experience coming here. i went to get a new tire from this garbage pile of a place. 1 i called to see when i came into get that new tire and they said it was in April and i pulled my bank statement up and found i went in December. so lie number 1. this new tire they just put on in December was up on backwards and I didn't even notice until today. I had a nail in my tire this morning and took my car to Walmart and the technician said the tire was put on backwards... Scam, I have purchased tires for three different cars from this Mckinney location. On four different occasions I have had a flat from construction going on in my area. On three out of four trips to the store they state they need to replace the tire. All four times the tires were still close to new. After I state no, because it's just a nail. Have always had stellar experience here. Customer service team and management bust their butts to ensure quality and efficient service despite being one of the most trafficked locations in the area. Yes you will sometimes have to wait a bit for your tires to come in, but they go out of their way to get you taken care of from the moment you step into the lobby. If you're worried about it taking a long time, try a different location instead of taking it out on staff, because these people are doing the best they can with an insane amount of customers. Came in first thing this morning. A few cars ahead of me but ready and optimistic. After charging my $700 dollars for the tires I am given a promise of completion time of 9:40am and in bay time of 8:40am. But the sales man says should be done much sooner. A little after 9:30am a man named Chris comes up to me and says, "you probably noticed your car isn't in yet. We were short 1 of the 4 times and have someone bringing it from Prosper location it should be here shortly." I asked how long, and was told it should be here anytime. After sitting and waiting tell about 10:10 I notice my car is still not in a both and go to talk to more people. They assure me it's here and they are about to start. As they move in it I go outside and watch the work. 2 guys start changing my tires. 1 hits my mirror with a jack and leaves it up agaisnt it. But it's taped and didn't "damage" anythjng. Then they go to let the car down and smash the truck in the bay next to mine with a jacks handle. It didn't look like it did damage though. They pull my car out and I asked if they checked my spare tires air pressure, which I was told they didn't and the guy walked away. I get in the car and see my tire pressure warning light is on now and the mileage on my receipt is wrong. I go back in, I'm told the light is blinking but it should stop (it has not stoped and still shows I have a flat tire. I will attempt to go back in. But I can already tell you they are going to try and charge me more.) and for the mileage on my receipt they tried printing a tire inspection sheet with the correct miles but I said this wouldn't work as it isn't clear when I purchased the tires and will effect my warranty. After the manager throwing a fit at me about how hard he is working and how he personally went to work on my car so it would be ready fast (I watched. He did NOT). They have to "refund" my purchase and ring me out again. Needless to say my account now has $1400 pulled from it. I was written up for being late to work and forced to use half a day of PTO. And after all that I still have to go back to get my tire sensor fixed which no telling what they will try to charge me for. I have taken 3 of my vehicles to this location and yes the wait is normally crazy. But today tops the cake. I can't in good faith tell people to come to this location. read more

I appreciate discount tire for taking in customers until they close their door at closing time. They often stay late to accommodate the folks who work until 5 and cant get there until 5:30 (when they close at 6 on weekdays). This location is typically busy. Also open on Saturday until 5, vote closed on Sunday. I've been getting my tires here forever. If your tires need replacing before the mileage guaranteed on the tires you buy, the will discount the next set by the unused milage. Ex: i bought tires that were supposed to last 65k miles. I only went 55k miles before they were bald. They took 10k miles worth of cost on my new tires. read more

I bought snow tires from Discount. I wanted TPMS sensors included. Well this job was handled by Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb. Over a 1.5 months. 6 visits to the store. over 8 hours sitting in the store. Three different sets of sensors. They can't get them to work and don't know which ones they actually need. At one point they told me I had to go to the Toyota Dealership because they had the right programming tool. The dealership charged me $85 dollars to dismount a tire and show me a picture of the aftermarket sensor in the wheel that is the wrong one for the car. Said I needed to go back to Discount and try again. Discount ordered a different set of "Supposedly the right Toyota Sensors". but they couldn't get those to work either. But they didn't actually put them in the tires and drive the car like the instructions say. Now they want me to go to the Toyota dealer which wants a $200 service fee (Plus sensor costs) to unmount the tires and install the right ones. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. And I'm out $85 and don't have sensors. read more
