I bought a truck yesterday and a nail was found in the back passenger side tire while it was being inspected by a mechanic before I purchased it. I knew at the time of purchase that the tires were fairly worn and was told by the pre-purchase inspection tech that I "should replace them before winter" (it was early spring). There was a nearby Discount Tire so I drove by and set up an appointment for the following day. I showed up for my appointment and the tech came out and inspected the nail and measured the wear on the other tires that had no nails. The Discount Tire employee took less than 30 seconds before he told me "they couldn't plug the tire and rambled off some DOT standard". I called another shop and they said "that sounds just like Discount, if it's in the top I can repair it." The other location (Big O Tire) had knowledgeable techs, was family owned, and gave me plenty of advice and fixed the tire for free. The tech at Big O said "they won't repair your tire but they will let you drive out of there with a nail stuck in your tire... which one seems more safe?" Not to mention, if it only took 30 seconds why in the world didn't they look when I was in the day before? In comparison the employees at Discount Tire seemed like minimum wage / teenagers who know little about cars and just serve the corporate bottom line. If at all possible forget Discount Tire exists. I made an appointment for 1:30pm today at the South Hover location in Longmont to have my snow tires changed out. I checked in at 1:30, but then was informed that the car likely wouldn't get into the bay until 3:30-3:50, and the service wouldn't be completed until approximately 4:30. If I had known that an "appointment" didn't mean that was when the work would get done, I would have made other arrangements. What is the value of an appointment if you still get put into the queue, and a 30-minute service requires waiting for three hours? Update: When I initially checked in, the service agent agreed to change the wiper blades. When I picked up the vehicle, while I had been charged for the wiper blades, they had not been changed. I was also missing a valve stem cap. I noticed both of these issues and had asked to have these issues resolved, which they did. read more

However, lately I had been having tire repair and it cost me an eye and a leg. about 3 months ago, I had one bad tire and ended up replacing all 4 tires at a pricey Cost (over $1,000). Today I had another car with a flat tire. What got me is that they saw a little rupture on the side of the tire and without checking if that was leaking charged me for a brand new tire. They suggested I bring the vehicle in right away. Technician found a nail in each tire and performed a rotation. I had an appointment to fix a flat. when I checked in, I was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour before they could start on my car and 15 minutes to fix the flat. I reminded them I had an appointment. They told me that's it's their usual procedure. It was 55 minutes before they drove my car into a bay. It turned out they couldn't fix the flat and did not have the right tire in stock so I would need to return after the correct tire came in. They apologized and told me they would not make me wait the normal 45 minutes to an hour when I came back. Ha! Of course, when I returned I was told it would be an hour. I complained and my car was ready in 40 minutes. But I can't think of any other chain in any industry with the 45 minutes to an hour policy. They couldn't get away with it. read more

I stopped by to take advantage of their free air service, but it was a frustrating experience. Some older lady getting her tires filled insisted on having a +10min conversation with the attendant, Dillon. She even followed him around as he filled each tire. Who exits their vehicle for that service? Odd. Even worse, Dillon did nothing to end the conversation when the line was 3 cars deep and counting. I tried inching forward and making fart sounds with my car to draw Dillon's attention to the line, but nothing worked. They kept talking and he kept standing there with hose in hand doing nothing. I had to get out of my car, approach the love birds, and go "Excuse me! Excuse me, is there another spot to get air?" for the lady to abruptly end the chit chat, which she apologized for but like, dude, she knew what she was doing. Ridiculous. I have been using these guys for over 20 years. Used to be a well run store. This is not true anymore. Even with an appointment it's going to take 1.5 hours. They also gave me a hard time about my tires. As so as they did, I mentioned I have insurance on them and suddenly they said they were fine. I could tell the guy was full of it. Found out after paying that there was an instant savings coupon for $70 but only if you paid online. Something that the salesman neglected to tell me about. I took my truck in because the dealership that sold us the vehicle and service plan (name withheld while I give them a few days to correct the issue) claimed that they could not rotate my tires due to swollen lugs and Kevin immediately came out to verify. He correctly determined that dealership had stripped a few of the lug nuts and rotate my tires for free because I had purchased tire insurance from Discount tires at the time of mounting. They regularly helped with warranty services when tires did not meet mileage raring. However, lately they are more about sales than service. This place is a total shit show. Ordered a spare tire and paid for it. The next day I was told it was twice the price of what I already paid and wanted to charge me to continue the order. I let them know that is illegal and they need to honor the contract. Once that was dealt with it took 2 months for the tire to come in because no one knew what was going on. CRIMINALS!!!!! I WILL NEVER BUY FROM DISCOUNT TIRE AGAIN!!! I just spent almost $1,000 on "new" tires for my F-350 mounted on 11/30/2021...I didn't think to check the date code on the tires BEFORE they mounted them (this is a 4 digit code stamped on the side of the tire which tells you the week and year the tire was manufactured), but I checked when I got home....as it turns out they totally screwed me on "new" tires: Tire #1: 2 1/2 years old....sold to me as a "new" tire Tire #2: 1 1/2 years old...sold to me as a "new" tire Tires #3/4: almost a year old...sold to me as "new" tires "New" tires will always be a couple months old due to the time it takes for them to move through the distribution chain. I would even give them a couple extra months leeway giveN the supply chain issues due to the pandemic.....BUT 1-2.5 YEARS OLD....REALLY!!! Old, mismatched ages all on the same vehicle with NO discount for the age of the tires, no informing me about the age of the tires.....THIS IS HOW YOU WILL BE TREATED AT DISCOUNT TIRE.....I felt like a character in an old cartoon being grabbed by a crook who flips me upside down and shakes me until all of the money falls out of my pockets!!! Tires have a limited service life, 6 years up to 10 years AT BEST under ideal conditions. Even if you store them indoors for their entire life and they never see sunlight, they are still technically no good after 10 years and are at that point "out of their service life" and will not even be patched by DT if you get a flat....every tire I just purchased "as new" are 20%-40% through their service life based on age....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Also, they tried to reduce my 10% military veteran's discount by about half, until I called them on it....guess they don't respect veteran's who served this country, either. Also, they tried to charge me an extra $150 for their "warranty", which we all know is B.S and 99% of the time a waste of money, but that's how they can squeeze more money out of unsuspecting customers who are extremely naive....but, I caught that and called them on it.
