Females beware. I walked into Discount Tire to get a simple nail removed from my tire. That's it. A nail. Not a new car. Not a full tire makeover. Instead, the associate immediately informed me I needed all four new tires. When I calmly explained that my tires still had plenty of tread, he confidently told me I was wrong. Apparently, my eyes and basic understanding of tire tread were no match for his sales pitch. I told him I was not interested in spending $1,200 for a full set and seemed visibly annoyed with me. So instead of removing the nail (the actual reason I was there), I left. Took my vehicle to a competitor and guess what?!? They removed the nail without theatrics and confirmed my tires are perfectly fine. Later had my oil changed at the dealership, and they also confirmed my tires are good. Funny how that works. I came in for a repair and got a sales lecture instead. If you're a woman walking in alone, be prepared to advocate for yourself OR just save yourself the headache and go somewhere that listens!! read more

I would NOT recommend this operation at 6607 W 29th St, Greeley, CO 80634. Appointments mean nothing to them. I had an 8am appointment (they open at 8am). One of the worker's buddies took my spot, and I was forced to wait until nearly 9. Had I not already paid for the tires, I would have left at this point. The tires were replaced fast! The first thing I noticed was that the tires were aired up to 40 psi - the proper pressure is 35 psi. I left and found that my car now had a shaking, vibration. I looked and found that the right front tire had NOT been balanced. While looking at the wheels, I found where Discount had chipped the finish on one of them where the lug nuts are located. I also noted that the inside surface of the wheels, where the wheel weights are stuck on, were dirty. I lowered the inflation to the factory recommendation of 35 psi. Called and spoke with Aaron - the manager. He assured me the weights must have fallen off and we scheduled another appointment. I drive back to town (many miles) and arrive to find that once again, appointments mean nothing to this group. As I sat there watching the crew work on a truck and car, I noticed how they would pop out the center caps and make no effort to protect them from damage. The caps would hit the cement and typically lay face down, only to be kicked around and ran over by the crew and tires that were being worked on. The crew was doing rotations on the two rigs that I watched. They had to re-balance the tires on both rigs. One belonged to a young lady. They came in and told her that a lug nut was cross-threaded, and they needed her permission to break the bolt off - they did assume the responsibility and told her they would give her a voucher for Brakes Plus to get the stud replaced. They were able to remove the nut without breaking the stud. They then ran a nut up and down the stud and later told her it was all good and nothing to worry about. Finally, they get to my rig - again they pop the center caps out and let them crash to the floor to be kicked around. At least one of them is now scuffed up. They took the passenger side tires off and rebalanced the one and balanced the other for the first time. They still only wiped the dirt off where the weights needed to be applied. They said the car was completed. I asked if they were going to check the driver's side. They lied and said they had checked them. I was sitting there the entire time - I could see the bottom of the tires under the car - the tires were never removed! They lie! They again overinflated the tires that they did mess with. I asked the assistant why and he tried to tell me that it was for safety reasons associated with the hot weather. The onboard system in the car showed the passenger tires were inflated to 38 psi and the driver's side were 35 - more proof that they never took the driver's side tires off to check their balance. Overall - I give this operation a F- ++++++++++++++++++ UPDATE - Discount Tire apparently watches their reviews and works to make things right. I posted my review this morning and have already received a call from the Store Manager Aaron, who apologized and outlined how he will work with his crew to improve all areas of my concern. After speaking with Aaron, I feel much more comfortable with continuing to do business with this Discount Tire store. I have changed my rating from one to three stars. My experience here was not ideal to begin with but the aftermath of their service is shocking. I took my car into my regular mechanic for maintenance where they informed me that the employees of discount tire (who had already broke a lug nut off my tire in order to put a new set on) broke a stud and failed to center my tires. This explains the intense shaking while driving in normal conditions such as coming to a stop at a light. After being forced to see a professional to fix what they had broken, I am out at least hundreds but finally have a safe car to drive. For a place that only works on tires, you would think they could properly center them and not break multiple parts to replace them. read more

Had a slow leak in my tire. I was told they needed 2 hours to fix. I handed over the nut bolt lock and key. After I left for coffee they called and told me they found a nail and could fix it BUT I really needed new tires. My car only has 12,000 miles on it. I felt as a woman I was being pushed. I rejected the sale of new tires. Later that afternoon when I got groceries and opened the back of the SUV, I realized they had ransacked the back and left it a mess. It was like they were looking for something. They left the safety kit out, I don't even know where it came from. Now I need to look to see if they took anything. I normally go to Discount when I either have a flat that needs fixing, or if I have a nail/screw in my tire, the staff at Discount were so amazing. Service wise, they understood what I needed/wanted done, and they completed it. Last Wednesday I found a screw in my tire, I ran over to discount to see if they could help me out. Everyone was very friendly and professional but the gentleman that actually fixed the tire was exceptionally accommodating, he said I could leave my toddler in his car seat and they would just drive it in and fix it while I either sat in the vehicle or stood next to my child's window. I purchased new tires from this location back in August. After a few months of brake issues (Even a time when I completely lost my brakes on a highway) a good mechanic noticed that my front drivers side tire was the wrong size! It had horrible effects especially because my car has front wheel drive. I took my car back into this location to get the issue resolved, I was assured it was changed. Today, I have taken it back in for more brake issues and found out that the tire was never actually changed on my last visit. I could not be more disappointed that my safety was compromised because of someone's negligence. read more

I went in for some routine work on my vehicle. Since the work I needed done was a little complex to just simply explain verbally, I asked that we go outside to the car so I could show everything I needed done, eliminating any confusion. Blake went out with me walked the entire car and payed close attention to my specific requests. He then wrote everything down and set the work in motion. I picked my car up a few hours later once the work was complete. Later that night I went to the car wash to clean my freshly installed tires and noticed that one of the center caps on my wheels was cracked. I called Blake the next day and told him about my concern. He replied no problem, and offered to pay for the part. I am extremely impressed with the professional service at Discount Tire. In life, little mistakes happen in everyday work but how you handle these issues separates you from the crowd. It could have been so easy to simply reply "oh that's not really that big a deal" or "it probably was that way when you brought the car in" but instead Blake and his team took responsibility and made it right. This is a GREAT place to get tires. I previously patronized that "Hot Rock" establishment, but they just can't get it right. What's good about Discount: 1. HUGE inventory. I needed snow tires for oddball sized rims. The "Hot Rock" place had one option available, and it had to be pre-ordered a week in advance.Plus, by the time the price and additional fees were added in, "Hot Rock" was a good hundred and fifty bucks higher in price. Discount had at least 8 different brands/types of snow tires - IN STOCK - for me to consider, plus about a dozen more that could be ordered and in inventory within a day. 2. Selection and appointment booking was completed online. I was able to review several options in tires and ended up with a brand different than I originally was considering. Again - all the options were in stock. I selected, had inventory confirmed and reserved, got the whole price quote, made the appointment, and showed up. 3. On time, no upsells: This was in December, after a major snowstorm. The place was absolutely jam-packed with customers. Yet my car was completed on-time, all services were successful, no add-ons or up-sells. 4. They gave me credit for an almost-new tire on trade-in. Three of my tires were worn down almost to leaking air through. One had about 5K miles on it because it was about five months old (original got a nail in the sidewall). It was a spendy tire, but I wasn't so sure I wanted to buy three more matching next Spring because I don't really care for the performance. Sales guy helped me greatly by giving me store credit for the trade-in. Something the "Hot Rock' place said they don't do. 5. Charge was exact to the online quote. Again, no upsells, no circumstances, no B.S. 6. Free balance/rotation/flat fixes. The "Hot Rock" place charges for balance and rotation, and only fixes flats if they sold the tire and you bought the warranty. I will definitely be back here in the Spring for new performance / touring tires. And..friendly staff, too. They were busy as all get-out, but the staff were all calm, efficient, reassuring (many stressed out customers) and hard-working. UPDATE: I selected the Michelin X-Ice Snow tires, a lower-priced name brand. They are FANTASTIC!! My car handled the snowy roads around Greeley/Boulder like a BOSS!! I am a long time customer of this establishment. I have had them do tires on at least six vehicles. They seldom if ever make a mistake. If they do make a mistake, they stand behind their work 100% and will do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. Excellent prices on tires and rims here. Just a side note from me: I know cars. I know tires and I am mechanically inclined. If this place tells you that you need tires on your vehicle, that isn't just because they are in the tire business and want to sell you tires. It's because they care about your safety and you probably really do need tires. Just because your tires still have the legal amount of tread depth left on them does not mean they are safe. read more

A cautionary tale that ends well. Every staff member I encountered was very friendly and the place was clean and buzzing. The problems occurred when I applied for their credit card for the "instant" 5% savings. The process ground to a halt when I found myself at the register having to call a credit card company for approval. That's when things went south. I spent more time waiting to talk to someone from a bank than the Discount Tires employees themselves. People were lined up behind me so I eventually moved off to the side. The onus was on me to provide my credit card account number and the bank would not give me the info over the phone or via email which made no sense. They went ahead and moved my car into the bay and I tried calling the bank again. After waiting 20 minutes I got connected with a bank rep. She was rude and would not help me. The actual job took little time and it came time to pay. Discount Tires forgot to apply my 5% "instant" savings on the receipt until I reminded them and, according to policy, they forgot to ask me if I WANTED to purchase their certificate; which covers repairs, refunds or replacements. Instead, I was automatically charged an extra $100. Because of the credit card snag, they refunded me the 5% on my credit card. But I had to ask for an alignment coupon and they never mentioned the certificate on-line. In addition they had a special where you create an account and receive 5% more off. I was not informed of this either. I returned the next day and one of the helpful store managers refunded me 5% more. I mentioned the things that should have happened but didn't and he was very apologetic and appreciative. I would still recommend Discount Tires, but go in knowing what specials are available and don't assume they will present any of it to you. read more

I sent my 17 year old to the store to have a screw taken out of the rear driver side tire and the tire repaired. The store told him they were unable to fix the tire, but how about a new $125 tire? No discussion on why, no discussion on if that was what was best for the client or the car, just told $125. Take advantage of kids much? This is the second very poor experience we have had here. I tried them one more time today for this simple problem and left with a new tire I might not have needed nor wanted. Too bad I can't give 0 starts. Have to share our Great experience at Discount Tire this morning. It started when we went out to load our Jeep for a flight to Tampa. The RR tire was completely flat. Since we purchased the tires at Discount Tire. We put on the spare & headed to their store, hoping to get everything done & not miss our flight. Now the 5 star part. As we entered the store Aaron immediately greeted us & made arrangements to solve our dilemma. As he was doing the paperwork, a technician pulled our car in & started the repairs. We were there less than 5 minutes. They had us back on the road in less than 30 min. Having retired from the automotive industry after 40 years, I know there is only one explanation. TEAMWORK! Discount Tire is a great company, but customers need to do their due diligence. They have the potential to be a 5 Star, but need to be more forthright with their customers. I love the convenience of doing business with Discount Tire. Their prices are competitive, the tires good, and the service professional. I travel a lot, so it's nice know I can get my tires serviced just about anywhere in the country-and have them warranted against defects or even road hazards. I had a blow out recently, and got a replacement tire for free! That is a great relief and feeling-knowing I'm covered. Also they'll give you credit back on unused tread. I am new to the DT in Greeley, and they have generally treated me well. One caveat, though. I would add is to be sure you get a firm quote on paper before you commit to getting tires here. My wife did a special order for two tires and was quoted $78 per tire for a total of about $170 after installing, balancing, and rotation. When I went in to pay they wanted to charge me $245. I ended up paying $230, after they explained to me that her quote did not included the tire warranty. Then I say why charge me for that if it wasn't on the original quote? I almost gave a 3 Star rating for this store, but because of my past experiences with DT, and once prior with this store, I'm giving it a 4 Star. I would recommend that sales reps explain costs fully. I recommend that customers do their due diligence, get and understand all charges before committing to ordering and having tires installed here.
