Buyer beware. I purchased new tires in 2024. Recently, I took the vehicle to Discount Tire, the location I purchased the tires from. I wanted to have the tires rotated and balanced. During the inspection, the sales representative told me that I could not have bought the tires in 2024 because the manufacturer's date, which is stamped on the wall of each tire, is different from the purchase date I provided. Turns out two of the tires were from 2020, the original purchase year of my vehicle, and the other two were from 2021. Prognosis: I needed 4 new tires due to the wear factor of each tire. Once the original bill of sale was produced, I was told that it must have been a manufacturer's error and that the Michelin Primacy tire I purchased isn't very popular, so the manufacturer must have shipped Discount Tire old tires, and the store didn't realize it. The very same day, my wife had an appointment with the same Discount Tire to have a flat repaired. I was told that she drove on the flat for too long and that the tire needed to be replaced. I informed the manager that this was not the case. The drive's flat tire went flat less than 50 feet from my driveway, and the car sat until our scheduled appointment. The manager stated that it was a bad tire and suggested I buy 4 new tires because the tires on the vehicle were hard to locate and match. He also said that he believed that the whole was too large to repair. At that point, I asked the manager to place the tire back in the hatch of my vehicle, so that I could drive the vehicle across the street to the dealer who had just performed a full inspection of the vehicle, including the tires, not more than a week before the flat. The dealer provided a written inspection report, showing that my 2024 vehicle was tip-top, including the tires. At that point, the manager of Discount Tire took the flat tire into his shop, where it was concluded that the tire was not faulty and that it could be repaired. read more

Went in for a simple tire swap the day before my drive back to school. They damaged some sensor while swapping tires and now the ABS system no longer functions properly in my car. The employees denied denied denied but it happened literally 30 seconds off the lot. When the employee tried to show me how nothing could have gone wrong the gun he was using the secure bolts exploded in his hand and bits went all over the shop. Very telling when the tools you use every day put everyone around them in danger due to negligence and cost cutting. read more

Disappointed. I live in Chicago and recently drove through MI and while driving on expressway, I got a screw in one of my tires. I found Discount Tire and drove here with intent to repair it. Service manager told me it was not repairable so had me buy a new one - price tag over $500. I kept my original tire and brought it back home. I decided to get a second opinion; it was fixable and paid under $30. I have had an absolutely great experience with Discount Tire. While getting flat tires is never fun, this establishment has made it as painless as possible. Twice now, they have worked with me and my schedule to get me a replacement tire at the best price possible. I have worked with Daryl, Chad, and Chase and someone else I cant remember. But they all had great customer service. There is also free water and snacks, which was nice. When I got my first flat, I thought I was being talked into an insurance I didn't need. It was somewhere in the ballpark of $40. But I was glad they convinced me it wasn't a scam because the next flat I got, they replaced it for just the price of labor. If you've ever bought a tire, you know it's way more than $40. I've dealt with a lot of shady businesses but this isn't one of them. I will say the wait can sometimes be long, but if you call and schedule an appointment before you go, it makes things way quicker. If I could give these guys 6 stars, you bet I would... We are visiting the area on vacation, and discovered we had a nail in our tire. I first stopped at Belle Tire, because it was the first place I saw... unfortunately, they were very busy and the dude on the counter was very dismissive, and just said : 'we can try to get you in tomorrow', not gonna work, I had to drive 45 minutes just to get to civilization. So I hit the road and discovered DT. I walked in and was greeted by Jonathan, who asked me some probing questions to understand my situation. As we walked out to look at the tire, he told me that he would see what he could do to get me in, in the next 1-2 hours, which was totally fine. I sat down and did some work in their waiting area, and 30 minutes later another technician brought my car around and thanked me for stopping in today.. BAM, the hole was patched and I was back on the road. I watched these guys service several customers, all while fielding phone calls and providing quotes to prospective customers. To be honest I was pretty excited to get snow tires put on my car and I was doing it the 2nd week of November. I was amazed at their selection and prices I did research online first and called to set up an appointment. Then strangely enough winter came 5 weeks early and the place was packed and I got a flat. I was getting an oil change and the techs there said listen can you hear that? Sure enough a flat. I drive directly to discount tire because my appointment was like 5 business days later flat on a Thursday and appointment the following Wednesday. Well the parking lot and the office was a mad house so many people. I talked to a sales guy Chad the same guy who set my appointment up with me on the phone. He says 4 hour minimum and explains why but I need no explanation. I'm a little frustrated but circumstances are just that and I chose not to be a child about the whole thing. By this time all the air had leaked out of my tire. I start to put on the spare and a tire tech comes over and tells me I cannot do that on the property. It's a liability thing. I get upset. Really upset. I tell him to cancel my appointment and how dare they treat customers this way. As I am driving out of the driveway on a flat to cross the street to put on the spare I pass Chad and tell him the situation and he shrugs and says there is nothing they can do unless I am willing to wait. I repeat to Chad to cancel my appointment and this is horrible customer service. I was not acting very mature to say the least. I have my family in the car so waiting is out and I have to go to work. So I reluctantly drive across the street to put on the spare. I notice that the tire is destroyed because of sever inside tire wear and that there is a flat spot on the inside of the wheel. And the wear is worse we're the flat spot is. Now my $400 snow tires are going to be double or more cause I need wheels also. I get online and check the competition. M&W is $1200 plus for wheels, tires and installation, same at Bell Tire. Discount Tire is $850. Shit I have to swollen my pride and call and apologize for acting like a little kid and order wheels to go with my tires. After more online research I decide to put new shocks and struts on my car and the record low temperatures make this difficult. I miss my appointment. I call ahead of time to explain. I was on hold for more than an hour and it took several calls on multiple occasions to get someone on the phone. Once again I understand people were acting crazy because of the freezing weather in early to mid November. When I do get through to the sales guy l. He was super understanding and just told me not to bother making an appointment because they are a week out and to arrive at opening and that would be best as far as time. I'm going into the second week of driving on the saddest little spare tire you've ever seen when my budy and I finish installing the shocks and struts. I show up 30 minutes before opening and my car was done in 30 minutes. Overall I say the expletive was great. I do have to go to M&W for alignment because they don't do that at Discount so hopefully it won't cost too much for alignment. I will say I was a little shocked when my bill was $75 to $100 higher than the online research cart total but I was so happy to have that sad little spare off and my sexy new tires and wheels installed I did not put up a fuss. Even better, the original equipment tires installed were less than half the price of the same tires at my new car dealership. The icing on the cake was when Darryl presented me with a manufacturer's rebate, which further reduced the price of the tires, along with a copy of the invoice to simplify the rebate application process. From the very first phone call at 9am Wednesday where Chad greeted me kindly and welcomed me to come on over and they'd fix it up...all the way until Karl hooked up me up a few hours later with a $45 used tire and got me back on the road expeditiously, I was a SUPERFAN. SUPER, duper, super fan. These guys are a class act. I bypassed no less than 6 tire repair places on the way from the highway to their shop, and it was worth it. Go with the trusted source, this place is busy...for a reason! They won't rip you off, do good business, and are really kind and professional. I have gotten all my tires from discount tire the past 6-7 years. I have winter and summer tires so I'm there twice a year at least. And I know this is COVID season but this has been happening before COVID. Making appointments doesn't matter. Had a 3:00 appt and was getting my car into bay at 4:00. I checked in at curb at 2:50. They told me to park and put my hazards on and "I'll send that blonde out to check you in." Over 10 minutes later listening to my hazards, I called. I think they forgot me and meanwhile had pulled other cars into the bays. (Maybe those folks had 2:00 appts?) Guy came out quickly then 50 minutes later I was into a bay. I usually wait 30-45 min after my appt to actually get the work started. Is this industry standard regarding appt times? I have less of a wait at medical appointments.
