We've been trying to get Tony to show up at our place four times now. Every time we schedule a slot he says "Okay I have you down for this date and time" and never shows up. When you call the business the owner redirects us to call Tony which is not helpful at all. At the very least they could let us know they won't be able to make it ahead of the appointment. We end up waiting half an hour into the given slot, then call them to only find out they won't be making it. Ruined our weekend plans and also ruined one workday (today) where we had to shift our meetings to accommodate this appointment. This is a zero rating!!! I am a property manager and needed an electrician for one of the homes I manage. I called last week and set an appointment for tonight, 10/18. They gave me a window from 5-7pm. Yesterday morning I got a call from the owner confirming they would be there from 5-7 that night. I informed them it was the following day. Tonight, I called at 7:11 pm to ask how it was going. The owner David informed me his employee was on the job. Then he tried to give me his employees phone number to follow up. WHAT??? I was at Costco, I'm not calling his employee. David called him and returned the call saying he got caught up on an emergency call, he would be there in 15 to 20 minutes. Forty (40), minutes later the electrician called and said he would be there in 10 to 15 minutes. Now I'm mad. This is not only unprofessional but inconsiderate to my tenants who have young kids, it was now 7:50 pm. I informed my tenants and apologized for the problem. Twenty five (25) minutes later my tenant calls, no guy!!!! I had to call and cancel as it was 8:10pm. I first called the employee, he gave me excuses as to why he was late. I only required that he call me at the time he was scheduled to inform me he was running late, "common courtesy". AND that he be honest about the arrival time. With GPS these days, it's not rocket science. I then called the owner in which he tried to" man handle" me and talk over me continuously. Unbelievable, he was so caught up in complaining about his employee then trying to once again give me his phone number to call. I'm the customer, what type of business owner tells the customer to call their employee and handle it. David needs to get a handle on his business or possible after 40 years hang it up!!!!!! read more

In the same conversation, he lied about the job he was on. Apparently, he forgot he talked to me the day before. Find another person. read more

I had fire in my home, and the power was shutoff by the fire dept while they extinguished the fire. in order to restore power to the rest of the home, I was told that I needed to have the affected circuits isolated so that power could be restored to the rest of the house without he risk of having power flowing through damaged wiring. The electrician came to my home, determined what needed to be done, took the time to explain what he was doing and Charged me a very reasonable fee. what impresse me the most was that this was a situation where a dishonest electrician could have easily over-charged or 'padded' the job since this situation was new to me. Honesty means so much especially when faced with unfamiliar circumstances. read more

Tried giving a call to ask about quotes fixing light fixture. Not very helpful at all. Sounds like the guy is not happy at all in helping out... He didn't courteously explain what services he has, what service charge he has. Just trying to preach and doesn't even let me explain what's going on... and toward the end he just said hesitantly ok fine if you want us to come but we charge $100 an hour. read more

When my surge protector caught on fire, I did two things...OK, wait, I did three things: I grabbed my fire extinguisher (thank gawd my brother had left this!), I threw away the surge protector, and I called Discount Electric the next morning. They came, worked magic on the faulty outlet (as well as two others along the same wall), and I've been free of small, spontaneous fires every since. THANK YOU. read more

In my previous post I THOUGHT the electrician knew what he was doing. Come to find out after $500 later if they really knew what they were doing they would of never had to tear my walls up trying to figure out the problem which THEY DID NOT SOLVE. They came back the next day and switches that worked did not work correctly any more. They did not repair the holes in the walls either! I finally got my regular electrician out here $400 later to fix my original problem and the mess they made of my outlets and switches. My electrician was very busy so that is why I did not use him in the beginning. Next time I will wait unless it is an emergency. Use Discount at your own risk. My light in my living room was not turning on at all. I attempted to replace the light bulb and the whole light fixture itself. Luckily I found Discount Electric. They came by and they informed me my electrical got jacked by a rodent! They fixed my light fixture and wiring that day with NO problems. Happy to have found them. read more

Discount Electric is clearly the most honest and knowledgeable Electric company in the entire area. I would say Northern California from Hayward to the Bay area. After 30 plus years in business, David Nuccitelli knows his business like no other. I got several bids ranging from $1200 to $7,200. He came out to Los Altos and immediately just tightened screws and checked everything and realized that I had been dealing with CROOKS. So, to make a long story short his total was under $300. I totally disagree with the reviews below...I live in a fairly old house, but I'm pretty handy and have learned to deal with most of its quirks. However, recently I needed to get some re-wiring done in the kitchen. For fear of burning the house down I decided to call an electrician. I called a few places, but David was the only one who could come over and get to work right away. The price was more than fair, in fact it was BELOW his original estimate, and they did a great job. The guys were clean, respectful of my space, professional, and got it done in no time. If I have any future problems I'm calling them right away. I can't imagine a better interaction. My lights started to flicker in my dining room out of the blue, so I looked up Electricians to solve my problem. Found Discount Electric through yelp due to their outstanding ratings and I have to say the ratings didn't lie. They came out figured out the issue (a rodent had chewed on a loose wire under the house) not only did they replace the bad wire but setup it up in a area so I wouldn't have to worry about this type of problem again. read more

I live in Discovery Bay Ca. and P.G.&E. had subcontractors out in our neighborhood running new lines to our boxes. They shorted our whole box and it shut off ALL power to our house saying they couldn't fix it until the next day sometime if then. We called everyone because it was late at night we couldn't find anyone. Thank God for Discount electric they came ALL the way out here and fixed our box at 12:00 am and charged us LESS than it would of cost for a electrical company to come out during business hours. My dimmer went out last night on my chandelier and I had a ceiling fan that was temperamental- the light worked sometimes but the fan always worked, so obviously something was loose. I had Discount Electric install 2 GFI Switches outside in my backyard. One of the GFI switches that powers low voltage pathway lights worked only for a few days and has not worked since without consist resetting. I called several times to have the electrician Tony return to correct the problem but he has been a no show each time (3) for the scheduled appointments. I would NOT recommend Discount Electric since they do not backup their work. read more

Did not keep appointment time and no courtesy call for the delay. 15 minute arrival time turned out to be 30 minutes. No apology and no "thank you" during visit. Put electricity ON to change broken bulb. Did not use bag provided to catch any debris (had to clean up broken pieces later). Not very friendly or appreciative of the $85 for 5 minutes of work. Wasted much time just waiting for contractor to arrive. Will not be using this company again. read more

We made an appointment to have our outdoor light replaced and no one showed up in the time frame given. We call to see if they are still coming and are told that they are on their way. 2 hours later, still no show and and this time, their phone is turned off. It was apparently a very common one, but because they have so much experience it was fixed promptly and for a reasonable price. They're very polite and they're billing was straightforward. Electricity went out in both my bathrooms. I called discount electric and they gave me a per hour labor cost quote (I'll be honest it did seem pricey initially) and were able to get someone to my house fast and within the time frame they had told me. The electrician found and fixed the problem (faulty wiring) within about an hour. He wasted no time and seemed like he was focused on getting my problem resolved and not running up the labor charge on my bill. They ended up charging me for one hour of labor and about $20 bucks in parts. I'd use them again, they are up front with the cost and will get your issue resolved asap so your costs aren't too high. I had an outage with my power in several rooms of my residence. I looked for an electrician and came across David's Discount Electric. A crew of 2 came over per my request. They had to troubleshoot the problem source, on where the issue was. I live in a home built in the 40's, so it was a little difficult at first locating the problem.
