This place doesn't look the most inviting but once you walk in it's like a treasure trove of awesome brand name finds if you are willing to do a little digging. I say brand name loosely because you'll find Coach, Sperry, Michael Kors, Dyson but you'll likely come across Mossimo or some Target Brand most often. All of the stuff there is new (not used or gently used) but they may be in opened boxes or not in season. They have very reasonable prices (I got a brand new pair of sperry shoes for $10) and my sister got her prom dress there for $20 and it was orginally $300+. They also have a furniture section that offers a really great selection on rugs, couches, chairs, etc. I got my sectional there for $200 and it was brand new with a modern design. I'd say if you are willing to spend a little extra time searching the racks and shelves, it will be worth your trip to this store. Only drawback is the intense Chinese food smell that lingers over from the Great Moon Buffet next door. It smells delicious when you first walk in, but after a while, can make you feel a little queasy. So this is a discount liquidation store. They basically buy pallets of merchandise and sell it around 70% off what the full retail price would be. You never know what they will have because the inventory changes daily. You will find everything from clothes to toys to house hold furniture. The customer service is very friendly. One complaint a lot of people have is the time it takes to check out. Sometimes you can wait for almost 45 mins to get through the line. That is not the fault of people who work there. They do a fast job with ringing everything up and bagging it. People are buying cart fulls of items which takes time. Make sure you have lots of time and patience before coming here. The nature of this store is pretty chaotic. People line up before they open at noon. The checkout line is often long and takes awhile. Inventory is hit or miss, but the prices are low and can make it worth it. Unless they post it on Facebook and you know it's there, don't come here hoping to find something specific. I will preface by saying that when you find a good deal, it is a good deal! The unfortunate thing is they close at 7 PM and "stop letting customers in at 6:30 PM." There is a big sign on the door saying this information. However... if you arrive anywhere between 6:20 and 6:30 they won't let you inside still. It's actually bananas. First off the employees could not be more Rude & just plain mean!!!!!! I've been shopping this store for probably 5 years and every year the employees become ruder & ruder. Also the line is anywhere from a 20 to 60 minute wait. Half the time 2/4 of the rude employees are messing around up front instead of checking people out. I've stop going there now because the last incident was too much. An employee was holding items for his friend behind the roped off section and than yelled at someone else for grabbing a similar item behind the rope. This place has deals that can't be beat, and that means sometimes it will be very busy, of course. I've found so many beautiful things here over the years, and always get compliments on my clothes and home, and people can't believe when I tell them what I paid. If you don't mind, crabby, sales cashiers, and you don't mind really really really long lines that go all the way through the store. Also, there are no carts and they carry a lot of large heavy items that you have to hold onto when you're waiting in line, so bring your own cart. and lastly when they close, everyone will be out of the store on the very minute that they close -so if they close at seven they close at seven and they want you in line by 630. On the upside prices are unbeatable on home, decor, sheets, curtains, rugs, electronics, shoes and clothing. If you're a serious shopper and you don't mind waiting in line. read more

I go every now and then to discount 70 because a family member lives nearby, when I do go it's just a mess. Everything looks like it's been thrown around in the store and when you do eventually find something to buy, the wait for checkout is 30 minutes - an hour. Not to mention the huge line to get in, I seriously can't comprehend why this place is getting so many people everyday with its poor quality. I think this store has a lot of potential but for right now, I would not recommend to go here. read more

Yeah-I'm always up for a good deal but my time waiting in line to check out is worth something too. We did find some items to buy (they have a lot of new red-white-and blue stuff for sale now). Horrible employees, not all but definitely a few long term employees that can make this a dreadful experience. My merchandise was rang up wrong, once overpriced and twice they charged me for more items then I had as they quickly count items and bag it. How is it even possible that the employees at Discount 70 are more rude today than ever? Today I wasn't allowed in the line to pay for my purchases at 6:44. My blood pressure is through the roof after listening to their threatening announcements telling their customers all sorts of demanding things. Mind you the sign on the door says they close at 7 pm, and they won't let customers into the store after 6:30 (sometimes even earlier). It's obvious that most of the employees don't want to be there and they pass their anger back to their customers. Seems like increasing the hours the store is open and providing some customer service training would help solve some of their issues. Every time I shop here a customer is upset and many customers are turned away at the door. Think of all the lost sales. read more

You have to shop often to find the best stuff frequently! They'll post some of their deals on Facebook, but they'll go quick. Beware though that lines can be long, you might not get a cart and some employees can not be nice. It's the price you pay for great deals I guess! read more

The people that work here at every rude. Came to the store at 6:40pm when they close at 7. The guy basically grabbed me so I wouldn't go into the store because "they were closed." My friend introduced me to this store a couple months ago, and Ive been going there a couple more time ever since. This is a discount store so items here are not used but older style, out-of-date, and probably a lot of open box items too. They have knick knacks, household items, kitchen items, pet toys, baby-related items, kid toys, cards, office and stationery, seasonal and holiday items, a little canned and packaged foods, men and women clothings and shoes, jewelery, hand bags and other accessories. I really like knick knacks here. They have quite a few worthy and cute knick knacks and home deco. I bought very cute jar candles for only 99 cent each. The jewelry section is somewhat nice. They have ok earing selections with store brand tags (like Macy's, Kohl's) for only 1.99 to 3.99 a pair. The clothing and shoes section are a hit or miss. Some items are incredibly old, very out of date, and very expensive for this kind of store. I once saw a very old-style dress for almost 50 bucks, but they also have nice things. I bought myself a very nice looking CK sweater for only 6 bucks. I dont really care for hand bag selections here. Overall, still a nice store to walk around and browse things if you are in the area, but I dont know if it's really worth going out of your way just to come here. read more

This is my go to place. People who are complains about their kids getting talked to by the employees. WATCH YOUR KIDS. They are your responsibility. Why are they running around like they have ZERO home training. How would you feel have disrespectful customer and bad ass kids in your store all day. You can tell the people that never worked retail. I bring my 8yr old daughter all the time. Not once has she got yelled at Becuase she's respectful and acts like she has home training. Bottom line. I love this store. By far my favorite discount store in the Twin Cities. As with most pallet return, overstock type deal places some of the merchandise can be dented, scratched, etc so you have to look closely. But rarely have I seen something on the shelves that is outright broken. Our favorite things to purchase are linens, (just got a $300 bed in a bag for $40!), toys, and kids clothing. Its rummage sale prices but brand new. We have saved thousands shopping here over the years. However, if you expect department store feel and pristine layout, this isn't the place for you. read more

Discount 70 reminds me of Savers, but maybe a little, tineh, babeh step up. I've been here a couple of times now, and they really do have some things worth checking out. I was impressed with the amount of shoes/boots, but was unable to find my size. I more recently stopped in to see if they had any low-ball glasses for my alcoholic beverages (which i could not find at the 2 dollar stores in the area), and I ended up getting a 16 piece set for $10--none broken, just the box was a little torn up. I'm not much of a bargain shopper and I felt a little out of place. However, no one bothered me and the security guy at the door was friendly. I would definitely return just to browse and because I'm in the area. They are also connected to the "furniture annex" and have a decent selection down there! read more

I was kinda excited to check this store out but disappointed once I did. It's a little unnerving when u walk in and there's a security guard there. Then there are signs all over letting u know u are on camera. I get having security but it was pretty in your face. It made me feel like I wasn't in a safe environment. They had a lot of stuff in the store but it wasn't very unorganized and alot of the food was expired. I didn't feel that anything was discounted from regular retail prices. I just felt dirty when I left there. I didn't buy anything and I won't go back. I love discount stores but only if they are truly discounted stores. I literally could wait to get home to write this review. I writing corporate. I've been shopping at this store for as long as it has been up and running. I've seen many employees come and go. And I tell you this is a sign of the times. I have never seen such disrespectful employees. Miranda, Lu, Molly, and Antionette are the good ones; everyone else is simply disgusting. I asked about an employee that said, " I'm not checking you out." I asked her why, and she responded, "Why would I." Because I love shopping at the site so much, I tried to go in on days when I thought she was off work. When I'm standing in that long line, I have to ask others to go before me if she is the only checking until someone else is at the register. That was very annoying. Lately, I haven't seen her and I asked another cashier if she still worked there. The cashier went off instead of simply saying, "We can't talk about employees." She went overboard, " It's none of your business, you need to tend to your own business, uh why do people do that, I mean she went on and on which was uncalled for. And of course, I have the right to ask, they don't have to answer. So, they put the security guard up to telling me if I mention her name again I'm banded from the store. First of all the last person I want to think about is someone treated me horrible when I came to the store. Second of all they had the nerve to force the security to tell me this as I left the store. I can't wait to write corporate. We are dealing with Covid and the last thing faithful customers need is harassment from the employees. I wished they could drain the swamp so all customers feel welcomed. The ironic thing is often when I told a customer they could go in front of me because the cashier refused to check me out the customer said, "Oh no! She doesn't like me either. I dare they try to tell a regular customer, a customer who was there when the owner posted a sign asking customers to please come in and buy the food on the shelf to help pay their employees; and I rushed there to help out and contribute. Discount 70 had a store in Hutchinson, Mn for several years until they closed it in 2006. I shopped there at least once a week or more. From reading the other reviews, it's still the same type of store. Definitely a cut above all the dollar stores & other stores selling used items. Discount 70 was a store where a person could actually find "treasures". They got things in from all over - Marshall Fields, Orvis, etc. I was very lucky to pick up all my All Clad cookware from Discount 70. Plus top quality brand name bed sheets. I always stop in if I'm in the area (Columbia Heights store) and usually find some things I like. Occasionally I see nothing I'm interested in. Usually the food is not any kind of deal--normal store prices and much is expired, but edible. Cosmetics seem overpriced. I've seen great leather chairs, ottomans and couches for really good prices. (Were sold or I would have bought them.) I've bought a printer/fax/copier (that lasted several years), an espresso machine, a 7-slot wood knife holder that holds another 7 small knives in between (fits in a drawer--I love it), a pair of padded folding chairs, a couple of high quality picture frames for cheap, lots of gift wrap, scary Halloween mask, sunglasses, a cute desk lamp with attached organizer that I love for $2.75 (half off--but was inexpensive to begin with), desk file organizers. And a couple of times I really scored (haven't seen these since): 6 bottles of a natural shampoo without sodium lauryl sulfate for a buck each (EO Essentials, usually sells for $8)--but the labels were falling off; 10 Brita filters for $10 (usually they're $5-$7 ea). You never know they have. Today I bought 8 pair of sox for 50 cents each (clearance items). If you buy these at TJ Maxx they're at least $3 ea; appear to be cotton. I also scored a pair of $65 Italian leather sandals (in original box) for $10 and a box of Belgian chocolate filled eggs for $3.99 (think I got an additional discount). read more

This place used to be great. The last few times I've stopped in, the prices have significantly increased. Prices are at retail or above in some cases. Maybe you can still find deals, but it used to all be a deal. I'm not going to overpay for open boxes, returns, and things that didn't sell. What a disappointment! read more
