I love going to Savers when I have a spare minute at whether I'm looking for something or not. I always find amazing hidden treasures in the art section or when I was gathering baskets for a project. The selection is always great. The prices are always reasonable. The staff pay attention and quickly try to solve issues over pricing or repair repairs. A real rockstar organization. And... That takes nothing away from either the restore stores of Habitat for Humanity or Goodwill. I love them all. It's so much better than buying retail or sending stuff to the dump! It's interesting how much that whole industry has grown and thrived. There's so much more potential to grabbing old stuff and repurposing it or simply reselling as is or recycling, the recyclable parts, etc. Let's change the all to ovftem economic garbage machine to raising up the whole world! read more

Shopping: There's now self-checkout available as well as checking out with a cashier, so that's nice. You still have to bring your own bags, and there's no fitting rooms.... so I've only bought items like tops and jackets here, that you can try over your clothes or guesstimate but that's okay. Still found some nice finds for only a few dollars! Donations: are quick and easy! You drive up and someone helps you put your packaged items in a bin. Awesome! read more

Some good finds are still possible here although in general, prices have hiked obscenely over the past year- see photos for examples. Regular canning jars for 1.99 ~ 2.99? You can get them new for less! This Savers location is still pretty decently organized. You can get a discount coupon and a tax form when you donate items. Thursdays are a 25% discount day. But these together with the current price hikes just make the other days of the week feel like Markup Monday, etc. rather than presenting meaningful savings. Hopefully it at least means workers are being paid better, but who knows? Self checkout is pretty smooth. read more

Although prices are on the rise everywhere, even here, it's still a great value over brand new. Sometimes Target & Walmart have similar prices for a plain tshirt or shorts but overall, for kid shopping your better off buying thrifty. For seniors, over 55, it's an EXCELLENT VALUE. I don't understand this place. They've gotten rid of the cashiers. If you have to use the bathroom, you can't just walk in - they have to personally unlock it and let you in. The stall I used was out of toilet paper. The worst part though is that there are no try-on rooms! How do you know if pants fit (the waistline around the neck trick does not work for me)? How can you try on a dress? I used to love this place, but they've not had a try-on room since 2020. I have regularly donated here and probably will continue to, but I miss being able to buy clothes that I know fit. read more

The outdoor lot is dimly lit and just screams "phone check" . Some of the obnoxious lighting from the inside needs to spill on over to the outside. A lot of the "thrift" stores I've seen lately are really taking the big box path with the flashy end caps, holiday displays and other layouts. While I appreciate the effort some of the prices are a little high for being at a thrift store. Looking through some of their shirts, I thought to myself I could buy this stuff brand new for what they are charging and I wasn't really in the market for too many shirts with penguins on them. I went do donate a car full of my fathers items after he just passed away. I thought I was doing a good deed because this organization is aligned with helping the veterans. I will say the guy that unloaded treated my fathers items like junk. Throwing heavy things on top of glass things, zero care in the world. Have compassion for what people are donating. They may have hand selected items for your organization to help the community and veterans. I was so discussed I cried as I drove away. read more

My wife and her little sister went to this location for some shopping, seeing why was available, and when they left, they asked the lady at the counter if they could have some stuff set aside as they went to grab some more cash. After leaving the store with nothing, my wife saw an abandoned cart and thought to be nice and bring it back for them and was instead screamed and cussed at by a manager (her name started with a "C") and was accused of stealing. Even after explaining that she left her stuff with the lady at the jewelry counter, the manager still kept screaming and cussing at my poor wife. Fuck this place. read more

This place is a major rip-off. Most of their tops (including ones with pilling and staining) are $7-12. Plus, the scarves are severely overpriced. One had a $3 tag on it from a previous seller and Savers was charging $7. It's super dirty and the bathrooms are gross too. You'll do MUCH better at goodwill. read more

All right, I take back some of the things I said about this place. Yes, their books and household items are kinda rank. But their selection of clothing and shoes is one of the biggest I've seen at any thrift store, and the prices are a little on the low side of average. I have found some rad stuff here, like a vintage 40s blouse in good condition and a lot of nice skirts and dresses. Unlike Goodwill, you cannot return anything here, but you can exchange if you have the receipt and the original tags still intact. Not the most convenient policy, but better than nothing. Up until Friday I was a savers shopper I probably went here about 1 or 2 times a week but I will NEVER spend another dollar at savers. The other day was the worst experience I've EVER had. I was so angry because of how I was treated. I finished my shopping and they were beginning to close, I bring my stuff up to the cashier which she immediately had an attitude. I was standing there only too find out they have started looking into people's purses before you can leave and there were no signs up saying that they can. Which I feel is total invasion of property. So back to the cashier. I told her to ring up the stuff that I put on the counter. There we're some plastic storage containers that had goodwill tags on them and no savers tags. which i didn't realize and so they wouldn't sell me those. I had a pair of jeans that had no tag so they wouldn't sell me those either. By this time I'm already starting to get angry. So she tells me that I wanted the total and I had a 20% off on my account which was applied but since she couldn't add the other stuff on I lost my 20% off and couldn't use it for the other stuff. She's was snotty and rude so i said nevermind now I don't even want to buy anything now and iy told her I will never shop here again and I walked out well I forgot I had an exchange and I go to go back in but the doors lick so I knock on the glass and everyone they just looked at me and did nothing I literally had to bang on the window for like 5 mins they even rod a customer that was leaving not to let me in and some employee was standing in there laughing at me as I still banged on the window. finally one of the security guards comes and asks what I want so I walk past him and grabbed my stuff and left. I have NEVER been so angry in my life and embarrassed because I'm standing there banging on the window while people that worked there laughed at me. I've gotta say, this Savers is quite clean and really is HUGE. I went here with the boyfriend, in search of a men's leather jacket. And we definitely found a gem in the bunch and the leather jacket looks brand new (minus a slight tear in the sleeve). Some prices seemed a little overpriced for Savers, but the nice quality and condition of the items seemed to make up for it. I was impressed by their selection of merchandise and brands offered. I spotted some Banana Republic sweaters for $9.99. Yep, you heard me, they've got Banana. They additionally have a decently large houseware collection of glasses, books, and frames galore. Their furniture selection isn't the best, but they had some really afforable coffee tables priced at $7.99 waiting to be snatched. I definitely will be back soon to shop for some Halloween goodies, and pick up some odds and ends for my apartment. read more

While browsing this store today, I experienced a very annoying tactic of theirs and brought it to the attention of two managers who were in a nearby aisle. In short, this store has in the past had a habit of stringing small zipper ties through the handles of two or more items, such as two or four or six cups, or a sugar and creamer, and so on. The ties generally aren't noticeable as you scan the shelves, but they become VERY noticeable when you lift a cup off a shelf and suddenly have several other pieces dangling and clanging together in your hand! This is poor marketing for several reasons. First, it increases the likelihood that something is going to get chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged. Secondly, what if I only need one of two cups that are tied together, or only three of six similarly joined? I have to buy them all? What if I want one cup to go with the single saucer further on down the shelf? I have to buy two cups? What complete nonsense! Since there were two managers nearby, I took over to them a sugar and creamer that I had picked up which were tied in this way. I explained to them my dissatisfaction with this method of displaying items and encouraged them to abandon it and just price each item one its own. All I got from the female manager was a terse, "thanks for your feedback", and then she abruptly turned her head back to what she was doing. A smart manager would say, "I appreciate your ideas and I'll pass your recommendations up the line so that appropriate changes can be made". A really ethical manager would then actually do what they just said. But the lazy attitude of this manager simply implied that she doesn't care about what customers want and will never take action to correct the problem. It for for this manager's attitude that I gave two stars. I am not the only person who is annoyed by this. Since I visit this and other thrift stores regularly, I run into the same people again and again and over time we start to strike up conversations about the stores and their merchandise, policies, etc. Savers "tie everything together with little zipper ties" problem has been mentioned by a fair number as an issue to solve. So, managers, try to learn from your customers. You've done this in the past, (BAD!) then stopped for awhile (GOOD!) and now you're back at it (BAD!). Get rid of the zip ties! read more

I love it here and miss it terribly. I used to work Tuesday - Saturday and spent every Monday up here with my club card. It's a great spot for awesome finds, some great deals, too! I was upset that they wouldn't allow me to bring my beverage in - coffee from a local shop - because it wasn't leak proof. I'm almost 30, if I spill I'll clean it up myself or buy whatever I may have damaged. Just thought that was kind of lame but I do get it. It's very spacious and nicely organized. The book selection is quite huge. I especially love their knick knack - home decor selections. They have so many unique and fun things to browse. The clothing selection is also big, but I find the pricing for clothings is way too hight for a thrift shop. They have a higher brand handbags and accessories in the display case near the fitting room. read more

Savers isn't anything fancy, to be sure. However, you can get lucky and find some cool stuff very easily and without breaking the bank. Unlike many of the other thrift shops around town, I think Savers big asset is that it isn't just clothes; I can go anywhere else and find a nice selection. But weird-shaped candles? This one didn't really have a good selection of items to choose from, but it was bigger and had a lot better tape/record selection than the other one I've been to and frequent. The employees weren't that friendly and stayed within themselves and the other employees. I wish employees would come out of the darkness sometimes. read more

I bought a couch this morning and when I went to pick it up, they had sold it to somebody else. Instead of moving a sold item to the back, they leave it on the floor with the price tag and a piece of paper saying sold. Absolute bullshit, super pissed. Also, super crappy customer service. I like it but some of their prices (especially on clothing) is entirely too expensive. I mean it's a thrift store, not Marshall's or Kmart. Even on half price day items have been marked so high that you still end up paying quite a lot. Some of the other items need to come down a tad bit as well but I do like this store. read more

hi, I have been a loyal customer for years with savers...Last week i was looking for tupperware fish steamer..To my surprise it was right on the shelf and the price was very very low..I loved it since it was a surprise to locate on the spot...All of their items are well kept and the 25% off on thursday is wonderful and the magazines for 29cents is very very nice to have.. Their kids clothes are great-I always find the cutest little baby dresses for three bucks. If you drop off a bag of stuff you get twenty percent off. Cleans out your closets too! read more

I hesitate to post a review for any of the Savers stores. If the reader wants to use any of the reviews in your decision to shop a Savers store, verify which location you are considering and heed the most recent reviews (within the last year). As I have shopped the various Savers stores in the last 20 or so years, I have decided not to shop again at a location but after six months or so have that location pull me back for more; these decisions take in consideration cleanliness, price, and selection. The locations also seem to cycle so that for a period of time store 1 is better in total than all the others or stores 1 and 5 have better prices than the others but store 5 needs a good cleaning, etc. all sorts of combinations. If you want a consistent shopping experience no matter what year you decide to shop a store, Savers will be a let-down. This location has improved with the renovation that doubled its size. Although the parking lot and store both handle a large crowd, the distance from any parking spot is not onerous for an able-bodied person (the parking lot slants toward the store, so for those with weak walking skills or using hand-powered wheelchairs, the trip to the store is much easier than back to their transportation...I would suggest using a close slot, friend to pick them up from the front door, or the slots in the right aisles where there is less of an incline). I have difficulty walking directly to the entry door; the entryway merges into one wall of black with windows and the door handle is not marked well. The last time I was in the store (two weeks ago), the floor needed a good sweep unlike other times when this location has struck me as the cleanest. The prices seemed applicable to a thrift store, and the items were in good shape. In fact, when I see a piece of daily wear for over $10, I tend to ignore that piece unless it still has tags and shows no damage. I love black jeans, which I cannot always depend on finding; and sometimes when I do find a pair, they are faded. The new way of hanging the jeans and pants by clipping on the side at waist and hip strikes me as something new but very efficient and helpful. I find the endcaps an attractive cover for the boring ends of the bars on the sales floor. The sales floor also looks better than when items were displayed on platforms over the bars. I can find something in the store to lighten my wallet. This makes the store a dangerous spot for me unless I start my trip to the store with a self-imposed "no spend" mindset, or put my eyes in tunnel vision when I go to pick up another pair of black jeans. One item that fascinated me on a trip was a pair of big, fuzzy, high-top night slippers that had massagers in the soles. Baby blue with pom poms. read more

I am a local thrift store enthusiast. I shop in them multiple times daily. Savers in Columbia Heights is a decent store. They're fairly reasonable with their prices, have a good selection, but I think they lack a little in their service. I was there on a busy Friday evening, arrived an hour before close. I found some awesome clothes that I was excited to try on but when I approached the dressing rooms they were being blocked off because it was 10 min to close. I understand that it was the end of their business day but they never announced anything over the PDA. If they had, I would have made my way to the dressing room quicker. I honestly didn't realize how late it was. There were others who also wanted to try on clothes but were denied. In fact, another customer told me they were being locked while the employee locking them saw me standing there and said nothing. I was quite disappointed by their lack of communication and high concern for getting customers out of the store. I put my clothes back on the rack and left the store so they lost that sale plus several more. I hope they conduct their business in a more professional fashion from now on. read more

Best thrift store ever ! They have really trendy clothes if you look hard enough express, banana republic, and forever 21 ! They have sale days all the time for their card members and for anyone ! I recommend signing up for the card because of 25 percent off Mondays ! And when you donate here has to be 2 bags they gave you a 20 percent off coupon! That helps DAV and something else I forgot .... There prices are fair and cheap for the quality compared to crappy unique in columbia heights ! And seniors get 40% Tuesdays !
