I've been meaning to stop in here for a while after passing it so many times! This is a jewel-focuses boutique with some super fun, bold and quirky pieces! They also sell boutique clothing as well. The jewelry and boutique clothing weren't quite my style, but it was fun to poke around in here before our reservation at Hazel's across the street. I'd say more of a 40s-60s demographic for style and accessorizing pieces. Service was very friendly! read more

I always love stopping at A Bag Lady in NE Minneapolis. The shop is small but packed full of beautiful purses, clothes, hats, jewelry & shoes. They have some really out there items that are fun & unique along with more trendy everyday wear items. The owner also color coordinates each section of the store which is awesome if you are looking for specific colors. Perfect place to shop for yourself, for a gift, jewelry for your big special day or if you are looking for something to wear for a special occasion. Everything is priced very reasonable. read more

A Bag Lady is an amazing store. I stop in every so often, and always come away with several very cool items - mostly jewelry. My message is for the woman who says she has a "healthy does of OCD." Believe me, there is no such thing. My son was diagnosed with OCD at age 6 and has battled its demons ever since, he is now 39. Real OCD involves intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that cause significant distress on yourself. As an adolescent, my son was hospitalized three times. Now with the help of an amazing support group, including a therapist, his family and friends, he leads a healthy life always aware that there could be pitfalls ahead. This place is worth a visit! It's on a cute corner with a vintage shop, coffee shop and bakery. They have an insane amount of gaudy jewelry - perfect for making a statement or adding something fun to a costume. They also have a fun blend of clothing - many different styles but each piece feels very unique. The prices are standard for a boutique (I saw $44 pants and a $30 top). The shop is small and I only saw one dressing room. I didn't leave with anything but I had a lot of fun looking! read more

Unique, quirky spot that offers clothing & accessories for women (and gifts for the men to give to their women-HINT). Be sure and peruse the sale items (and the 50% off sale rack). The coolest thing in the place was a helmet that was fashioned into a backpack, but didn't get it because it was more $ that I could explain to my husband. BLING!!! And lots of it! This small corner shop is filled with sparkly, shiny, super cool costume type jewelry. The little shelves are so packed with pieces that it's hard to look at just one item. I want to transfer a whole mini display to my dresser top! There are tons of bracelets to match any outfit and unique watches you won't find anywhere else. Many of the purses (bags...hence the name of the store) are so interesting they are works of art, or at the very least, conversation starters. (ex. a black purse with a stiletto heel for half of it with Marilyn Monroe's photo on it.) Don't go into this store unless you have a lot of time, as there is so much to look at it's hard to choose! One of the best stores I've ever been in. Everywhere you look is a feast for the eyes. And if you are like me (with a healthy dose of OCD), you will really appreciate that each area is sorted by color and level of sparkle. Fun, fun, fun jewelry store. I love perusing these kinds of overflowing stores that leave me overjoyed. It's a bit of an organized mess, but the thrill is in finding the right necklace or earrings or purse or, in my case, all three. I found the most adorable animal necklace which for the longest time I thought was an owl merged with a squirrel. Thankfully, my friends called out how dumb I was when they pointed out that clearly, it was a fox. What can I say? I slept through science. I also found an adorable pair of airplane-shaped earrings that I had to buy. If I can't fly around the world anytime I want, I sure as hell am gonna wear jewelry that suggests that I do. And, you gotta comb the store, because you'll find some pretty functional accessories, too, like a purse that fits an iPhone and allows you to access the phone while it's in the purse through its plastic side. Genius! My friend and I each bought one, and it is the snazziest thing ever. read more

This store is a recent addition to the Johnson NE shopping district. It's a cute little store full of kitschy accessories and such. They have some cute items, and some more on the bedazzled side. The store is packed though, so chances are you'll find something to like. The owner is a nice woman; fun to talk to, but not all over you. All in all, I think I could do some Christmas shopping for my mama here. read more

The jewelry offerings here are plentiful. I am tempted to give five stars but I had an unfortunate customer service experience my last visit. The main saleslady/cashier followed me around the store the entire time. The store is not large. .. it was awkward. This is not usual protocol, I've been shopping here awhile and usually the person working doesn't leave the register! It even took her a minute to assist a customer who came in because she didn't want to leave me unattended. This store is a long distance away from me. I go all that way to get aisle stalked by a racist. I digress. I usually don't even look at the clothes and purses because they are egregiously over priced but I did notice some cute dresses last time that a gal could splurge on. I haven't decided if I will be back or not. I'm contacting the manager so to be continued. The situation is very disheartening I was one of the first people to shop here. We walked in and the woman who was working walked right past us with merchandise, didn't greet or look at us even although she had seen us just walk in. So RUDE. Shopaholics usually know all the "joints" in town to get their fix, but I had NO idea about A Bag Lady until we drove by it on a Saturday evening after dinner. Oh my, my, my. Glitter. Bling. Sparkle. Shine. The essential Glam Girl vocabulary is spoken clearly and concisely at this joint! Eyes big and mouth wide open from amazement, I tried my hardest not to openly salivate over all the beautiful jewelry, purses, belts, and other knick-knacks that blingy-loving chicks rely on for their steady diet. There is so much "awesome" in this store I can't even begin to tell you. Yes, there is a lot crammed into a space, and it takes time to peruse it all. But that's what makes this store fun! Definitely keep A Bag Lady in mind when you are wanting to find a really unique, beautiful gift for that special female friend/co-worker/relative in your life; you need an unforgettable "statement" piece to wear to a function (formal, party, wedding); or you just simply want to splurge a little on yourself - get something really awesome that you'll always smile when you wear and get oodles of compliments when you wear it. read more

I think I'm in love. and let me tell you, I don't love jewelry stores. I usually play hard to get, but with their cute as can be window designs I just had to go in. There is probably something for everyone here. I especially love the animal jewelry, hats, and general knickknacks... but they also have bags, clothes, clutches, belts, hair accessories galore. I'm not a fancy person, but after coming here, I want to make my hair fancy and go back and purchase the glitzy owl bracelet. Some things are pretty spendy, but that's to be expected because it's all handmade and original (the more expensive items at least)... but otherwise you can go in and spend $10-50 and walk out with something you HAD TO HAVE and you never even realized YOU HAD TO HAVE IT. I can't stop thinking about the damn place; I'm glad I went in without any money. But I do live about 5 blocks away and after pay day, I'm reeking havoc on A Bag Lady. I have been to the store now 3-4 times. I live in the NE and was excited to see another unique store come into the area. My excitement did not last long because each time I went into the store I was either ignored until I was about to leave or they watched me like I was going to steal something the entire time. I am 30 years old and not a thief! To be treated that way is very insulting. Maybe if I had coach bag and didn't have dyed hair they would've treated me differently. To top it all off I was looking for unique item they had there and asked the clerk if she knew when the owner would know or if I could ask her when this item will be coming back. they kept telling me it'll be back in a couple weeks it's been months now and still is not there. The same clerk then told me that neither of them knew when they would get the item and the owner was directly behind me unpacking a box of new items and didn't say a word!! BEYOND HORRIBLE SERVICE!!
