I have been in here multiple times over the years and I have spent a good chunk of my hard earned money here. Particularly today, I went in with my boyfriend and we went into treat ourselves after a long work week. We had bought a xbox 360 and the controller that came with it had insane stick drift I took a video of it to show to the workers when my boyfriend got there, so he called and they agreed to let him replace it with another one. Needless to say this one was no better! It had corrosion all in the battery pack I took a soft q-tip to clean it out and it still did not work! I was fed up and so was he! Mind you we live an hour away! We spent 3 hours going back and forth to this location several times! Disc replay prides themselves on testing and giving you working controllers but it seems to me that they have been lazy lately and needless to say WE WILL NEVER RETURN HERE! If you are looking to go to a video game store consider going to disc replay in Downers Grove, they are not affiliated with them and the staff and everyone are so helpful. My husband and I brought items to sell. when we got there the young men took our box. and stated it should be done in an hour and a half to get done. we went back after 3:00. we had brought our stuff in at 1:45. we found it had not been touched. The employee told us the other employee had gone on break. That what we were told. we came back a little later still not done. They had gone part of it. I spoke with Chris the manager all he told us the weekends are very busy. I knew he was covering for the employees. We left again 10 minutes later we got the call it was ready. when we we got there it appeared some of items were not gone through. We got out of there after 5:30. This took over 4 hours. Great little place of nostalgia with reasonably priced items - I would say this Naperville location has the better selection (compared to the Lombard/Downer's Grove location) of DVDS/BLU-RAYS and video games and tons of old systems and paraphernalia you may need. They do have a small vinyl selection and an average sized used cd area, but it's not that large. You CAN still find some bargains for either, but it's just your average selection of general releases for the most part. Look for their sale and specials prices (buy 2, get the 3rd free for example on cds or dvds), especially between October and New Years. On Black Friday and Black Saturday for example, they had specials of like all dvds and used cds 70% off! I went on Black Friday and walked out with about 10 decent used cds and old dvds for under $12! Can't beat that! Nice selection of general music posters and POP figures, too. As stated, cool place to come for your old (or new) video gaming needs or if you want to stock up on used cds or dvds. They do buy your old stuff, but generally speaking you won't get much for it (you'll get more in store credit), but if you want to dump off a boatload of stuff you have no need for and don't want to deal with EBAY or Craigslist, won't hurt to stop here and see what you'll get. I want to clarify that items sold at this store are not FULLY refundable. For context, my boyfriend and I came in looking for cool Funkos and pokémon cards, While browsing, my boyfriend had found a decent Charizard trading card. After purchasing my boyfriend decided he had changed his mind about the card so we returned an hour after our purchase. We were told that if the item was not defective, we were not able to get a full refund, mind you the card was $14 and we had paid cash. The team lead told us that it stated the return policy on the bottom of the receipt. AFTER we had already purchased the item. We were given store credit after going back and forth. The workers weren't answering any of my questions or concerns regarding the safety of consumers, it seems as though the workers aren't educated on the return policy of this store. Overall very horrible experience and I advise people to ask questions before buying from stores like these because they WILL take your money. read more

This location is horrible. When I spoke with General Manager Chris to mention unprofessional and rude behavior by employees, I was met with even more unprofessionalism, hostility, and rudeness from him. Among my complaints was that one of his employees forgot to return my ID and thankfully, I realized before I left. His answer to this specific incident was that they would have called me and told me to come get it. Therefore, I would have had to drive without a license to go pick up my ID and what would have happened if someone were to hit my car on the way, and I would be driving without a license? That is just one example. The employees, especially in the evening, do nothing but goof around and make jokes instead of working and ignoring customers while they're gossiping. When this and other issues were brought up to general manager Chris, he saw nothing wrong with any of it, and I'm not surprised because his attitude is the worst of them all. he should not be the manager of anything let alone working in anything to do with customer service. So a week ago I traded in something similar the item Xbox One S 1tb and a game for that I got $187. Today I brought in another Xbox one s 1tb, modern warfare collection, black ops double pack, max Payne 2, 2 Xbox one controllers, a original Xbox controller, GTA 5, and from Russia with love Xbox. They gave me $155. When I asked how is this possible in price difference they said we dropped the Xbox one down, which I looked at the prices and they didn't or it was only a couple bucks drop. It was not a noticeable difference, in my opinion they stole from me and lied about the price difference the guy who helped me was a Hispanic male with baseball cap and mustache and he was no help. My advice to the store is don't lie about prices so you can steal items. What you are doing is considered a white collar crime and I am tempted to report you to the BBB and the FBI. read more

Good prices on video games. I was surprised to see that video games take up 80% of the store. I definitely approve. Glad to see a decent selection on some of the (now older) systems when I was growing up. The last time I went to a disc replay must have been late 90s when it was still all cds. I've been visiting hpb for retro stuff but this disc replay has an amazing selection. They were running a special on PlayStation stuff when I went. Disc replay in Naperville can be found right across Route 59 from the very busy Fox Valley Shopping Mall. For those unfamiliar with the Disc Replay chain they buy and sell DVDs, Blu-Rays, CDs and video games. What makes one disc replay better than another is price and selection and this disc replay is larger and has a better selection than most. While CDs are growing closer and closer to becoming obsolete and the section of compact discs in this store is far less than it once was there is still a better selection than other nearby second-hand music stores. The DVD selection at this particular store is huge but a bit picked over at times. Desirable out of print movies don't show up as often here as I've seen at other locations either because they're being bought up rather quickly or are put off to the side as they come in. The video game section is the part that interests me most. Their current generation games are fairly priced and there's a decent selection. The retro stuff is a bit of a mixed bag, while they have a fair amount of games, systems and peripherals that GameStop no longer carries their pricing is curious with games and systems going for far higher than ebay values in certain cases and in other cases a bit lower. It seems as though they have someone look up some of the games on ebay without context as to condition, whether or not it has the original box or manual and price some things towards the higher end of the spectrum. Overall I like this Disc Replay and recommend, good deals are to be had if you're looking for second-hand movies, games and music. read more

This Disc Replay is pretty friggin' huge, I'll say that. They have a nice selection of anything you might be looking for - and all for a decent price. That's why they're my first choice for gaming goodies. Having worked in a used CD store like Disc Replay for many, many years... I can understand the attitude a lot of people get from the employees. It's partly something that comes with the job - much like people expect a bit of aloofness from baristas or indie record store clerks. Well,used CD stores are a bit like the suburban form of indie record stores. The attitude just comes with the job. However, a lot of the attitude also comes from dealing with customers. People who bring their CDs/DVDs in and expect to get top dollar for them (remember, the clerks don't determine how much you get, the store policy does). People who try to barter with you because they think they walked into a flea market. People who ARE looking to sell their grandma's Engelbert Humperdinck CDs to pay for their next crack fix. Believe me - It's MUCH more common than you think, even in the suburbs. I used to shop at Disc Replay all the time in high school. Finding a new release, or a longed for treasure, for less than $7 was so fun. But things have changed over the years. The staff is much like "High Fidelity," putting themselves on a pedestal and ready to verbally assault you if you ask for a Lionel Richie record. The management here is strange. So are the employees. Lazy and tired looking, as if they just rolled out of bed and rolled up a joint. I was looking for a 2nd job once, and when I came in for the interview and asked for Tom, the manager, the employee looked at me quizzically as if to say, "Tom who?" The CD inventory is no longer the focus here. It's a barrage of CDs, VHS, DVDs, video games and video game systems, it's become more of a junk shop and a huge disappointment. I used to be obsessed with the $5 dvd bin at Walmart, until I came across Disc Replay. $1.99 movies.... $3.99 movies.... And they offer email coupons?! I've been hooked ever since! I've bought dozens of movies from them, and my husband a few xbox360 games too.... All mega cheap, and all in 100% condition. We've not once had a bad purchase yet! They know what they're doing. And the best part.... They do buy-backs. I can't tell you how many dvd's we used to own that we never watched. So we took a bag full in one day, and were given an option of straight cash or store credit. It wasn't retail value by any means (obviously they have to make a profit), but hey... Getting cash for old dusty dvd's on the shelf is the way to go! I've heard of other locations, but this one is the closest for us (across from Fox Valley Mall) and why travel elsewhere when you're happy with results?! 4 stars (not 5) only cause the store selection is totally fantastic! They have a good range of titles on DVD & Blu-Ray. I came here because the Disc replay in Hoffman Estates didn't have the title I was looking for. All of the Disc Replays have different prices because they pay different prices for the items they buy & most have different owners. This Disc Replay also told me that they usually have a better selection than the one in Hoffman Estates. Overall this Disc Replay had a good selection & ok service so I would visit this location again. read more

Back when I used to play video games and watch anime, I used to head on down to disc replay. The selection has it's ups and downs depending on when you go. I remember a much wider selection of video games & anime when I first visited there years ago for instance. The movie selection was always decent and seems to be much larger these days. Lots of kid flicks if you have rugrats. Prices were alittle high for some of the used stuff IMO, but that's my cheap side speaking. As for the staff, I know a couple of workers there, and my brother knows the owner and her family. In the land if cheap used DVDs , the cheapest place is king. This place is king, mainly for a good amount of $3.99 major name titles. The organization is very orderly for a used DVD joint. There is a limited selection of Cd's , which was the main focus of this place a few years ago. You might get lucky finding a hard to track down CD you were looking for. The bulk of the DVD selection is under $7.99, and there is a huge selection of most titles anyone would ever want. The real bargain is in the TV show and movie box sets, which are a good 15% to 25% cheaper than on Amazon. There are a good amount of old video games here, prices are similar to gamestop. This is one of the bigger Disc Replays yet It seemed to carry less of a variety of any I've been. Or maybe I just own more of what I was looking for. read more

I've had 18 XBOX 360 games sitting in my basement, untouched, for years. Today I decided to get rid of them. I would have been happy with getting $2 per game and instead I walked out with $99 cash. The whole process from walking into the store to walking out took less than 20 minutes. I called this location to see if they would take an iPad and about how much they would give me for it. Decided to go in and take my item, drove 45 minutes, for them to tell me they are currently not buying this item. The shift lead Jeremy decided he was going to drop my iPad on the ground, and say oops, accidents happen. I cannot believe the disrespect and unprofessionalism experienced at this location. I asked to speak to the store manager and he told me that he was the store manager until I asked one of the kids who was working and he told me no that this was the shift lead. These kids are "running" these stores and they're pushing people away by treating people like crap. and it's apparent the manager has no idea what's going on in his store when he's not in. Very sad taking no accountability or even apologizing for telling me they would take something and me driving 45 minutes for them to tell me no sorry. and they tried to tell me that their employee wouldn't tell me that but I actually have the phone call on my phone of her saying exactly that. the people here are condescending and rude and I will never shop here ever again. I went in looking for a few games and found the staff very helpful. Multiple employees asked me if I needed help finding something, turned them down cuz I was sure I could find one of the games I was looking for. Finally I gave up and went up to the counter and Tori(?) The girl with a unique name (I'm sorry if you're reading this) was very helpful and looked up each game I was coming to find. We had a nice conversation about movies and tv shows, she was full of information and energy. She even recommended a few shows I should watch and was nice to have someone doing more than just their jobs. Great customer service all around. Will definitely be back. I've been here at least 30 times in the past 5 years. And each year, it gets worse and worse. The employees have gone from pretty cool to rude. When you go to trade things in or sell, they used to be cool about it. Now, the people look at you as if you're selling your stuff to get money for your next crack fix. Maybe the Batman Forever DVD my grandma got me isn't one I want to keep. That's why you're in business; to buy my DVD from me. Granted, I don't expect much in return. But don't act like I'm some sort of beggar trying to get money. And what the hell is with giving me $8 for 7 DVDs? Or $15 for 20 CDs? I once told the girl working I'd just keep them, and she basically told me that wasn't an option. Excuse me? They're still mine! Sure, the selection is incredible, they usually play good music in the store, their prices are fair, and they're usually willing to call you when something comes in that you've been looking for, but their customer service could be leaps and bounds better. The only place close that will buy CD's DVD's video games and Blue Ray. I brought in several bags of DVD's and CD's. they needed a few hours to evalute the lot. They "passed" on 80% of the lot. Based on what is on the shelves, they seem to want only art movies. They dont take DVD players. Although, they did take all of the Disney films. I asked for an explanation and the clerk provided an inaudible response. For some reason, he was very nervous especially when he told me what they would offer. They did pay cash (they will offer more in store credit but I don't need any more used movies). They sell the movies for $3.00 so you can't expect much. I then went to the Walmart parking lot and gave the remaining items to the Salvation Army. So, at least I was able to get a little bit of cash and a tax deduction. My advice is to skip the place and donate all of your items. I wasted time and fuel for two trips when it really should have been one. read more
