HONEY DON'T! Avoid HoneyDo SericesUnless You Want to Be Ignored, Overcharged, and Disrespected…read more Where do I begin? As a former law enforcement officer with expertise in fraud and organized crime, I know how to spot red flags -- and let me be clear, HoneyDo Services raised plenty. Unless you're bringing them a million-dollar project, you're likely to be treated like an afterthought -- or worse, a mark. Here's what happened: * At the end of April 2025, after paying an $8,000 deposit on what ended up being a $23,000+ project, we waited exactly two months for HoneyDo to start work. Their excuse? Delayed materials. The truth? They prioritized a million-dollar job in another county. We weren't important enough. * Once demolition began (finally) by mid-June, we discovered unauthorized demolition had been done without prior consultation with us, which they used to justify an additional $3,000-$5,500 in materials. Guess what end of the bill we ended up paying? * The promised rebuilding start date was canceled the morning of without explanation. When I asked that our home be treated as a "priority," I was laughed at * When HoneyDo Services finally started showing up on a more regular basis, they had to be pushed and constantly reminded to do the work we were promised. It was only after repeated nagging, they did it but each time, we feared asking for a better craftmanship may be an "additional fee". They cut corners, damaged our property and then lied about it (caught them in a lie at least three times, one they don't even know about as they think they got away with it). They only owned up to one lie and remedied the situation. * The biggest red flag of all, when we asked for receipts for materials we paid for, we were told that they were "confidential and only accessible for viewing at the office" One of their own handymen confirmed that the leftover supplies and primer paint bought with clients' money were used on other projects. It appears, the leftover supplies are actually kept in a warehouse and resold for profit. At no point, we were asked if we wanted to keep it. We had to beg just to keep the paint we paid for, which we found out was bought in excess. * When they finally finished the job to our satisfaction and before paying the final invoice, we asked to meet with the owner of HoneyDo Services to voice our concerns about the way we were treated. We were told via text that he would be glad to come the very next week. Surprise -- he never fulfilled his promise and never intended to do so, even though we told him we will have no choice but left a bad review of his business since he wasn't interested in our opinion. Turns out, he has "other plans after 5pm" (I have the text) and threatened us with litigation if we didn't pay the final invoice upon receiving it within 24 hours -- even though we waited months for them and constantly had to chase them to finish their work. By then, they had already been paid over $20,000. Realizing we were being shaken down, we paid the final invoice on the day we were asked to, then he finally agreed to a meeting, too late! The bottom line: unless your project is over a million dollars or very minor, you'll be treated like an inconvenience. We have documentation of every interaction with them since Day 1 (April), including the threats, gaslighting and lies and would gladly share it with anyone who is interested. Whatever response HoneyDo offers to this review -- be skeptical. Based on our direct experience, they can't be trusted. It was a mistake hiring them.

They weren't the only one, my insurance company didn't pay attention to the bid something I didn't see till the end of the job. Why you may ask is disaster company sent the bid direct to the insurance company which approved it. We saw it after it was paid, lesson learned, do not let any company do work till you view the bid.

They did an excellent job of cleanup and followed through for the next few days. Then we began working with the Repair department. They demanded full payment before they would begin any repairs. We paid full payment the day it was requested. 7 WEEKS later (finally) a contractor came to begin repairs (but later) his repair job resulted in problems for us. The job only took 1 day. Another 2 WEEKS went by - no notification to schedule the remaining needed repairs (now 9 WEEKS) we told them we would no longer use The Disaster Company to complete our repairs. We requested a refund of our unused money - which, of course, never happened. PART of the only job that had been done was a HORRIBLE repair. The Repair department treated us unfairly, was dishonest and untruthful. The mitigation team is great - but don't ever use the Repair department at the Ogden office-- get your own repair people.
