We had lived in our house for only two weeks when we had our basement flood. We were recommended the disaster company by our insurance adjuster, due to him previously being employed there. The mitigation with josh was awesome! He kept us in the loop and had it done very quick. They did break our wood blinds and were supposed to fix them, but never got around to it. Pushing forward to the rebuild I asked for a bid before we proceeded with payment. We were advised to pay our insurance money forward and they asked me to sign a work authorization form, claiming it was just so they were aloud in our house, just to even get us a bid. We were going to do an add on since they were already there but when they gave us a bid for that add on it was way steep compared to what we thought it would be. So we asked to just rebuild it the way it was and we were told we would be getting the bid for just the rebuild. Weeks went by, no bid came. I reached out several times and codi told me she would have me on the schedule and we will just make changes as we go, but to just get sheetrock started. A few weeks of waiting brittany reached out asking what color floor we wanted. Confused I asked why we werent doing the sheetrock first like we were told by codi. No answer, for weeks once again. Finally my wife called in asking if we could just get our money back so we could pursue other contractors. She was on the phone talking with Brittany on the details, when codi came on the line and openly laughed and mocked my wife about my wife's background in construction billing. Hearing about this I went into their office to personally ask for our money back and to see why we were being treated so poorly by a company we were supposed to trust. Codi said they were waiting on a form to be signed, billy yelled in the back ground it was already signed. Then she proceeded to tell me how sorry she was for joking with my wife. I told her it wasnt a very funny joke, and being in construction my self im flabbergasted that a company would mock a customer that way. We agreed to get our money back, no one ever mentioned they would be keeping any of it or a contract was binding us to almost 5k. Weeks later we recieve part of our money back missing about 5000 dollars. With a contract signed with Josh's signature, under my name, not my signature. They claim since we broke the contract they were entitled to 20 percent of our total insurance claim. With no bid still, no work even done, still have broken blinds and tile grout that was never fully removed and needing chiseled or grinded, then mocked on a personal level by the manager here. We have tried reaching out to the owner with no response. Allstate has reached out and still, no response. Sad a company would take advantage of people like this, especially a young family who had only lived in this house for two weeks before the flood happened. Definitely do not recommend this company at all!! read more

This company is not honest and when they're caught they make excuses for it. They charged over 3000.00 dollars for things they didn't do or buy. They weren't the only one, my insurance company didn't pay attention to the bid something I didn't see till the end of the job. Why you may ask is disaster company sent the bid direct to the insurance company which approved it. We saw it after it was paid, lesson learned, do not let any company do work till you view the bid. read more

Agree with poor ratings. Craig & Christina nice to work with. Prompt with initial cleanup, but do get your own contractor to repair and rebuild. They sub-contract and for the most part, work is poor. Overcharge, poor time management, I could go on...AND if other work comes in, they drop you for the new, incoming $$$ read more

Josh has been so helpful with our sewer back up. I didnt know where to start and him and his guys have taken care of everything.

Quickly responded to our flood and communicated well throughout the insurance process after the toilet valve broke over night. Water ran all night flooding 3 levels. These guys came out early in the morning to clean up and help us through this mess. read more

We were happy with Josh and his mitigation team at the Ogden office. We called about midnight on a Sunday night and they responded within about an hour. They did an excellent job of cleanup and followed through for the next few days. Then we began working with the Repair department. They demanded full payment before they would begin any repairs. We paid full payment the day it was requested. 7 WEEKS later (finally) a contractor came to begin repairs (but later) his repair job resulted in problems for us. The job only took 1 day. Another 2 WEEKS went by - no notification to schedule the remaining needed repairs (now 9 WEEKS) we told them we would no longer use The Disaster Company to complete our repairs. We requested a refund of our unused money - which, of course, never happened. PART of the only job that had been done was a HORRIBLE repair. The Repair department treated us unfairly, was dishonest and untruthful. The mitigation team is great - but don't ever use the Repair department at the Ogden office-- get your own repair people. read more

This company was great as far as helping in the middle of the night, kind of. I called around 3:30 am about a flood that was happening in my basement and nobody showed up until about 7am. I pretty much had the entire basement (3 rooms) and garage emptied by the time the guys got to my house. They set up equipment to dry the walls and suck the water out of the house. Their equipment stayed in place for about 2 weeks. Anyways it ended up costing over $6K which is ridiculous to me. I wouldn't recommend this company. They only seemed to care about anything when the insurance had the money ready. We only heard from them when they wanted a pay check. I only called them because my husband was away for the week and I didn't know what to do. I definitely feel that they rip people off and take advantage read more

We have a brand new home and due to some poor construction led to a flood in our first floor into our basement. All flooring, walls, insulation, and even some cabinets had to be removed/replaced. As a young couple with their first home, this was a very daunting, terrifying, and stressful experience. A lovely lady on call came out and chatted with us while we were in tears at 1AM in the morning and sat with us until the clean-up crew arrived at 7AM. She discussed our options and they worked with us on financing, and even capped the price regardless how much more they'd do to the home in clean up. We got a plumber out to stop the problem shortly after it happened and I immediately worked on mopping up water long before anyone clean-up-wise showed up. By the time they did around 7, I had most of the water cleaned up (that was on the floor anyway). Other than the sensation that some of the workers felt "done" with their work on the house (and left behind a broom lol) towards the end of the clean up phase, I could not recommend this company more. We were going through a heat wave and not a day that had passed that week was less than 100-105 degrees, and they still worked their butts off. I'd be "done" too! They put fans down after sanitizing the construction-floor several times and the fans plus a dehumidifier and air scrubber were in our basement/first floor for about 4-5 days. We turned the fans off at night so we could sleep, and would just turn them back on in the morning. They let us know that could elongate the process, but it sounds like it didn't hinder it too much. They verified the moisture levels had gone down to a healthy range before removing the equipment, and it was definitely a breath of fresh air/relief when the fans were gone - I did not realize they'd be so loud! But it makes sense. Everyone who came out to our house to help during every process was so caring and genuinely wanted everything to be rebuilt better than when they left it (Which wouldn't be too hard), and boy were they right! The insulation was put in with more care and precision than before, the walls look great, and the flooring is an upgrade to what we used to have and far higher quality. I couldn't be happier with the reconstruction - they're moving as fast as they can given they seem stretched thin right now, but come out as often as they can to continue work. The project manager who is overseeing our rebuild is probably one of the most hard working, genuine, caring, person I have ever met. Same to the lone wolf who did all the dry-wall, mudding, and sanding. Absolutely amazingly hard working people. ___ Long story short -- with all companies you'll find "bad eggs" or people that don't work as hard as others. That's frustrating, yes, but in the end I wouldn't peg it on the entire company in the slightest. I'd only peg my frustrations at those individuals. The Disaster Company has seriously taken care of us during this process. It's been about a month almost since the Cat-3 Flood and we're nearing the final steps of our rebuild. All should be done in a week or two! You can discuss financing options, and PLEASE be kind, open, and honest with those working hard on your home! While your situation may be rough right now, it does not warrant you being rude or mean to those just trying to help. These guys came out at all hours of the day to assist us, and even when they didn't need to and just wanted to lend a helping hand before going home for the night. One of the best Utah companies I have ever had the misfortune (because flood) and pleasure of working with haha. read more

Very personable and quick to come out. Got dryers lined up I was very happy with that part of the work. When it came time to re-create the spaces with tile sheet rock paint, everything goes into kitchens and bedrooms, the contractors that they used were sub par and the follow up in supervision was nonexistent. One of the contractors apparently came in and smoked meth in one room. As I put my home on the market and never moved back in this was found by the new buyers it cost me a lot of money. I am a 60-year-old widow who has never been exposed to drugs or been around people that use them . My home was 5400 ft.² with seven bedrooms two kitchens two laundry rooms and sat on 1 acre horse property it was most certainly not a drug house. The contractors would criticize the Disaster company saying that they didn't return phone calls they were slow to pay and as they were the bottom of the barrel and they were not feeling as if they were taken care of they certainly put no effort into quality work. The Wood Floors refinishers ruined my floors after three failed attempts I brought in my own independent contractors the man apologized to me and said it was the worst job he had ever seen. So if you have a flood you need to replace dried out there on the spot. You want someone pleasant to work with call Craig. But when it comes to putting a Home back together use your own contractors. Very expensive also. read more

We had a great experience with the Disaster Company....we didn't actually have a disaster, but we used them to finish our basement. Wow! Looks amazing. They did such a great job. It looks so much better than we could have even imagined. We started the process in July and they had us completed right around Thanksgiving. Considering the square footage for improvement they moved at a really good pace from start to finish. We were very pleased with how they moved through each phase of the construction process. We loved working with their staff and the contractors and subcontractors they hired to work on our property. We felt very comfortable with the people that they had working on our house at all times. The work itself was done very professionally and the quality is great. They worked hard to get everything exactly like we wanted it. With their exceptional quality of workmanship they were able to keep us in budget and and on time with everything. The process from framing, electrical, HVAC, gas lines, sound systems, sheetrock, mudding, finish work, painting, carpet, tile, cabinets/countertops, and lighting all look amazing. They used high quality contractors and sub contractors, which made all the difference in how the finished product turned out. They made some recommendations for the basement that turned out looking so much better than we thought they would. Randall, Moriah, and Sara were all amazing to work with and if we had any issues during the process they were quick to respond and get back to us. Anyone that has dealt with building or the construction process knows that are always small and large unexpected things that happen during the process. The key was for us to be quick in contacting them when we would find something that we needed changed or improved on and the Disaster Company was great at handling these unexpected items and working to resolve them quickly and in the best way possible. I would recommend them for their disaster work and also for the their abilities as a contractor to do any type of remodeling, additions, or renovations. They were exceptional. They were upfront and honest in all they did and were willing to make sure we were happy and taken care of during the process. They made our vision become a reality for our basement. We couldn't be happier with the finished product. read more

Mariah was very helpful and quick to respond to all our questions. We are pleased with the work.

the best company in ut i have ever worked with. very fast and great svc. honest. willhave my clients use them.

They were friendly, helpful and professional. I even changed my ideas on them a couple of times and they just went with the flow.

I recently had a disaster happen in my condo. I was referred to this company thru my insurance company. they were quick to come out and get the mold removed, water dried up, and problem identified. However they left my cabinets outside and it rained on them. The plan was to rebuild them so why were they out there I asked. Still they set ( 2 days rain) then a sub contractor was hired to repair them so he moved them in. that was the point it went downhill. I was promised they would be rebuilt in a cabinet shop but because of the contractor not making arrangements (other jobs and too busy) the deadline couldn't be met with the shop (I would rather waited). They promised me it would be done by a agreed timeline and that didn't happen. (3+ weeks late) after i called the contractor to express my concerns my call was not returned. (2 weeks). I was then contacted by the office lady to check how i liked the repairs. i let her know i was not at all happy. They offered to 'fix it'. I reluctantly agreed and the 'fix' was just to add more trim. not repair the job done incorrectly and not to what was agreed to. I was then called by the contractor they hired to do the work to get an explanation on why I didn't like the work.( not that I hired him) and what he needed to do to get paid (again not that I pay him). To make matters worse they want to threaten a lien on my property even before the invoice is 30 days and before the insurance has even paid out.(not that they helped with the claim or anything). I recommend getting a different company to do any Repair only use in case of emergency. Make sure they don't leave your cabinets or anything else needed to rebuild outside in the rain so you can still have it done right for a reasonable price. read more
