The condenser dates from 2004 and the inside portion dates from 1994 (original to the house.) So the idea that things were terminal isn't all that out there. Turns out worst fears were unwarranted. The capacitor had failed and required replacement and I concurred with him that changing the contactor was prudent as well (18+ years of cycling on & off, why not?) Given my track record with service pros, I decided to just tackle it myself. The owner himself comes out and also Taylor the technician. They work together to solve the problem and work through it. I felt like they were honest with us and explained and showed me things along the way that were damaged with our AC unit and explained what was going on. We needed a few new parts since our unit was 2006. We now need to put more blankets on our bed because we are freezing. Our AC is working like new. We'd recommend these guys to others!
