I'm met some friends for drinks and dinner. $$$$ for basic well and draft beer and a dinner that was mediocre.

If you're in the Apache Junction area, I highly recommend Dirtwater Springs. Their menu offers something for everyone and the food is really good. While I didn't attempt the 70 something oz. steak challenge, I enjoyed learning about the history (it's haunted, seriously!) Kyllan, our waiter, was attentive and knowledgeable. One major perk was being open on a Monday. My friends and I stopped at a couple of places before Dirtwater and they were all closed. Thankfully, we ended up here. I'll definitely be back. I'll also throw in that I recommend the Liquid Marijuana cocktail, it's delicious just appoint a DD. Lol. read more

This place would have been a lot better had our drive home not been so far. The staff here was polite & attentive... they even turned their hostess stand into a to go stand! I had the Chicken Fried Steak & my SO had the brisket. The food was good, not great. Like I mentioned, I believe the food would have been better had we been able to eat it fresh & not had to drive home. We WILL be back On a side note: we tried to order pick up via the Yelp app. It took 20+ minutes to have Yelp cancel the order without explanation. When we asked about this, the staff advised the tablet wasn't working properly & the service knew that. So Yelp is accepting orders they know they cannot process. Makes no sense... we didn't let this ding our rating of the restaurant, however. Just be sure to call the restaurant directly or place the order in person rather than ordering via Yelp. read more

The worst meal we ever had. My codfish tasted like rubber, they didn't bring out half our orders. The medium rare steak was well done. The chicken fingers were sloppy and watered down mild sauce all over everything. And our waitress spent too much time in everybody's table flirting. Let me just start by saying the waitress was nice. Drinks came out fast, but that's about it. We came in with a party of four. One being a child. It took at least 40 min to get our food. We watched a table sit down after us and get there food within 20 min of being there. I ordered the brisket, my husband ordered the prime rib, my father in law ordered the chicken fried steak and then chicken tenders for my son. My brisket came out very dry and cold. The mashed potatoes where freezing and the asparagus were over cooked and burnt. You can tell the prime rib was sitting for a while because the fat wasn't even cooked it was turning white again. The waitress even apologized for the wait. If you know that you're are sending out a plate that isn't something you would eat, don't serve it to your guest. Also, we are still in the middle of a pandemic. It's extremely uncomfortable to see the patrons and the employees walking back and forth without a mask. And some of the waitresses there that were "wearing mask", the mask aren't even real ones. I know this because we ordered the same ones off of Amazon to go on top of our real mask for a girls trip in September. Will not recommend and won't be back. read more

Wish I would have read the reviews. Prime rib was cold not even close to the quality you would get any where else for this price. Went home wasting $200 on dog food for the dogs. Stay away!! I'd give it a zero but we had a decent waitress. Pigeons shitting on tables and people. Drinks watered down, food was cold and not sure why as it was delivered rather quick. Smokers fill the outside patio which is too bad if you want to watch the music and your a non-smoker. Do yourself a favor and go to handlebar restaurant Instead. The atmosphere was nice and country looking and clean. The waiter was a little to quite spoken with no smile, but I understand when you're young nowadays, but he never came back to give us a refill on our drinks, and that's not good. I had to wave down the bartender for a refill. The food my wife and I had was horrible, I have never tasted anything this bad in my life, and I'm 65. I had the spaghetti and meat sauce that you are charged extra for. The meat sauce was the most disgusting taste you have ever tasted; it was over salted and tasted old and had a very disgusting taste. It was also as thick as paste you can find in a can. I had two of our guests taste the sauce to make sure it was not just me, and both said that it's not even eatable, horrible taste that you cannot even explain, I guarantee you getting sick if you eat it all. My wife had chicken parmesan, and her sauce was not very good tasted either but eatable, just ok and the chicken was way overcooked. The bread was garlic bread, but you can taste the burnt on the toast and not taste any garlic flavor or garlic salt taste at all. The lady seating next to us said she didn't have the best experience the first time but since she lived in the area she wanted to try eating here again, but again she was not happy the second time either. Gave it one star cuz you can't give it zero. Would never go back here and dont recommend any of their food. Brisket isn't brisket it's toast beef and super dry and bland and way too fatty could of trimmed some of it down. The burger looked like a hockey puck and super dry and the the gravy tastes like water no beef flavor or anything. We just had the most horrible experience at Dirtwater Springs. We arrived at 11:10am. We were immediately seated and iced tea order taken. We ordered our appetizer and meals at 11:20am. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. My husband ordered the Filet (well done) with baked potato and corn. By 11:40am my husband is starving so we inquire about the appetizer. The server checks the kitchen and brings the appetizer. At 11:56am the waitress comes to our table to inform us that the mashed potatoes are still not ready and asks us if we want to substitute. I replied with corn. She brings out our meals and places them in front of us. My plate only has the country fried steak and coleslaw. She looks at me and said she was confused and didn't know what I wanted. My husband takes the knife that was given to him, a butter knife, and proceeds to cut his steak. The knife wouldn't cut through because it was so rubbery and not fully cooked to well done. I was still gazing at my plate wondering why the gravy was a slight yellowish/tan color and why I hadn't received the corn. I always thought the gravy on country fried steak was white with pepper. We both look at each other. My husband was livid that we had been sitting there for 50 minutes and were served a pile of crap on a plate. Why did the server wait 35 minutes to inform us about the mashed potatoes? Instead of waiting for a server to come to the table to resolve our displeasure he just wanted to leave. He was so disgusted with what was served to us. He left $80 cash on the table. Well over the amount with over a $20 tip. We said nothing and just left. No one tried to stop us and ask if everything was okay. It was my husband's first visit to Apache Junction and he said it will be his last too. I was very disappointed as I had envisioned a leisurely drive and a pleasant meal. In my opinion, my husband was too generous leaving $80. I will say the servers were very nice, just not attentive. What a great joint in AJ. Been here since 1983 - comfortable rustic setting live entertainment DAILY Fish fry with an all you can eat option. Our server TIM hooked me up with a free sample because I am one of those kind of "show me first". Cod not in beer batter but done in corn meal & perfect golden brown to perfection. Delicious! I placed an order for pick up and arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before it was supposed to be ready. I waited by the "please wait to be seated" sign for 5-10 minutes, and no one acknowledged me (though several workers saw me). I finally walked up to the bar and someone finally asked if they could help me. I told him I was there to pick up an order. He went in the back, and came out with table orders, and didnt even let me know what he found out. After about 30 minutes standing there, someone asked what my order was. She went back to check, and came back out and said nothing. After waiting for 45 minutes (during which time no one even offered me a glass of water), I finally got my cheeseburger. What a waste of time waiting - that was one of the worst burgers I have ever had. So, to make it clear - terrible service! terrible food! I DO NOT recommend this place. read more

Overpriced southwestern themed place. Seems to cater mostly to the snowbirds and tourists looking for a cowboy fix. The place is all show and no substance. Food was nothing worth mentioning despite its high price and menu hype. Most people seem to come in to drink first and eat second, even during lunch time when we visited. You only get chips and salsa if you order drinks, otherwise, too bad. Waitress wasn't very attentive, probably because we were under 70 years old. read more

I was in the mood for prime rib or a steak. We were out east so did some searching and found Dirtwater Springs. I'm a sucker for old west, kinda tacky ambiance so I like the place right away. Very nice service getting us seated in. Comfy booth and waitress was right over to get our drink and food orders. Menus were super worn out to the point of not being able to read them. (Not a positive) Salad was cold and good. Medium rare prime rib came out very brown on the outside but pink inside-- makes me question their cooking technique. I'm suspecting the pieces are boiled in au jous as opposed to roasting a whole piece. Flavor wasn't bad but it was for sure not the best prime rib I've ever had. Next time I would try a steak instead. A paint class was going on - looked fun- and they were and advertising a theme dinner for later in the month. I'll be back again. read more

It's a good laidback bar n restaurant for the locals. Been here many times and always had a good meal and good service. Had meatloaf Sunday and it was served with mashed potatoes and dark brown gravy which was excellent. Came out full and happy. If your in the AJ area I recommend you give it a try. read more

VERY attentive staff, polite and professional to our dining experience. Dining room has a lot of character on the walls and around. This time we chose to go from their "Border" menu after ordering the fried mushrooms appetizer. Combination plate and a Taco Salad, along with a grilled cheese and fries for my son. Overall presentation was great. Food was at a great temp and good flavor. There was a mixup with the order but the chef and staff offered an additional complimentary dish to compensate. What a cute, fun place. Outside dining which, for people from Minnesota, is terrific as we wouldn't be eating outside in the winter. Brisket is good as are the burgers.
