Maybe they're great in store but absolutely do not order from them online. I placed an order 12/28. After not receiving the order or any tracking I reached out and Jessica told me they accidentally had it as a pick up order and would add a gift to my order for the inconvenience. Then the order doesn't arrive per tracking and I see that it didn't receive any postage. I'm so irritated at this point I cancel the order and she has the nerve to still charge shipping per their "policy". So she's willing to continue to foot the cost of reshipping plus a "gift" but not to do the decent thing and refund the shipping for an order they dropped the ball on...The way I view this they didn't apply the 20$ I paid for shipping to ship it so that's theft. Really gross and disappointing behavior.

I had SUCH a nice time here. It's seriously a nice shop. And the owner (I believe) was so so sweet and told us everything we needed to know about our plant care. She was even kind enough to repot it into the pot we bought for us! All the plants looked beautiful and healthy and there was a good variety. Pricing was good as well. A few parking spots in the back otherwise street parking.

We love Dirt Bag! We decided to check Dirt Bag out on a whim one Sunday. I was on the hunt for a decent sized Monstera plant. I hadn't had any luck finding one until we found Dirt Bag. It was pretty easy to locate, I think it's like a duplex that was turned into a few different businesses. The outside paintings are so beautiful especially the mural of Kaiser! The owners one eyed pup. We actually got to meet Kaiser and the owner of Dirt bag when we came. When we first walked in, I was just in plant heaven. There are plants hanging from everywhere, on the floor, on tables, on window seals, on cabinets, just every inch of that place is covered in plants. I went for a Monstera but was quickly distracted by all the other plants. On top of getting the Monstera, we have also gotten a Pilea Peperomioides or a "Chinese money" plant, Baby toes succulent, Hoya Carnosa Campacta, and a Maranta Prayer plant. The owner mentioned being able to bring back these plants if I had any issues with them or to help repot them. Customer service is really great here. Everyone who we've talk to at dirt bag has been so knowledgeable and friendly. We also got a punch card; they punch it one for every $100 you spend. My card is not full yet, but Im sure it will be soon!

Dirt Bag is a well curated gardening store --think quality over quantity and exquisite selection. There are Peacock Calathea plants and other verdant offerings available at the shop. I liked having the option to purchase specific types of soil, and was also impressed with the design of the shop itself. Customer service was good and helpful the day I went to Dirt Bag to purchase a gift. The woman I spoke to was very welcoming and knowledgeable about horticulture. I look forward to returning during Spring to see what the latest selection of plants is like.

How did I not find this gem earlier? It's off of West Gray in a creme building on a corner with parking in back of the store. It's a cool plant boutique with unusual and cute houseplants. I was looking for a heart shaped Hoya and they had three in stock today! We bought three plants today. Great for the houseplant enthusiast and also good ideas for gifts. Highly recommended!

    This place is amazing!!

I recently discovered Dirt Bag via their IG - I messaged them for help with a failing plant and they immediately wrote me back and told me to bring it in. They refreshed the soil and helped me repot it in a large pot and the plant is doing great now! I love stopping by when I am in the area, and I recently picked up two gorgeous plants from them during their Astros World Series win BOGO deal. They are just so nice here and their plants are beautiful. You can't go wrong with any pick from here!

I was very excited to come here because of the good reviews but it was overpriced plants and no one said hi or asked if I had questions. The lady was glued to her phone.I will be taking my black dollars elsewhere! UPDATE. I went to Blessings Plants and Music at 1625 Westheimer road and spent over $300 on 3 plants and 3 pots including a huge fig tree. More importantly the owner David was very attentive dividing out what I needed and even told me they would come see the plants if I had any issues. So it's not that I don't have coins, it's that I didn't feel valued in your space! After your reply, I definitely won't be back Dirt Bag!

Very cool little plant shop that you could easily pass if you aren't paying attention! I just went in for some perlite but I was able to talk to the employee (Katherine). Who was very sweet and knowledgeable. She answered a couple question with had and was nice to talk to. I ended up buying a bag of Leca because I feel like I can never find that either. Took away one star because there wasn't a huge variety of plants. However I understand with Covid some things may be on back order or hard to come across. Def worth a look if you are a plant person!

My experience at Dirtbag was great. Jessica was so helpful and kind! I own a plant and called 30 minutes before if they can help with my pest problem. When I got there Jessica helped me identify the plant (I didn't know I owned a tree!!) and the pest problem. I was able to hand over Opal (my plant) and walk around while Jessica cleaned her of pests. Already recommend Dirtbag to my friends and will definitely come back once I'm ready for another plant!

Beautiful layout and a variety of plants everywhere!

Such a cute place! There's a lot of variety in such a small space! They were so friendly, knowledgeable, and answered a bunch of my questions, since I am a plant newbie. Parking was a little challenging behind the store, but they told me to park at a vacant lot to the right of the shop on Gray St. I definitely want to come back again!

    Two sweet babies.

I'm in love! I can't speak highly enough of this adorable shop. I discovered Dirt Bag a couple weeks ago, and it has since become my bank account's greatest fear. Just take my money! At present, I've brought home eight beautiful plant babies, and they're all doing so well. Though the space is small, you won't want for anything! In particular, they've got a great selection of Hoyas, Peperomias, and God's single greatest gift to the plant world - Calatheas! Or I'm just biased...they're my favorite. I pick a new one up on every visit. They are also extremely fairly priced in my opinion - comparable to many other plant shops around. But the *experience* here is so far and above anything else. The staff is also lovely and always eager to help. Other reasons I quite literally want to move in: 1. The music - whoever designed the playlists absolutely killed it. Led Zeppelin and Tupac is never not the vibe and y'all know it. 2. Sometimes the owner/staff brings their fur babies?! My heart! 3. There's a Topo Chico fridge, and I don't need to say anything else.

I really liked the whole concept of this place. I purchased a monstrea from Lilian at their 4/20 (48 days ago) pop up and was charged for a sticker but never got a sticker? However I was initially really happy about my plant. She started to droop a few days later, so I repotted her and unfortunately she started to wilt, I changed her dirt, and changed the plant food unfortunately she was left with only 3 leaves. Today those 3 leaves couldn't hand on much longer :( not really sure where I went wrong with this plant but never had this issue, I used an app to try to find out the issue.. I was told she could've been a sick plant :( will be trying them out again hopefully just a one time issue.

I went here for the 1st time about 2 weeks ago just looking, with one specific thing in mind I wanted to buy but expectations low (I'll get into that later). I did end up getting a small basil plant, and then a bigger tomato plant. Spent less then $7 and both plants are still doing good. They sell a huge variety of items, and definitely a spot to get more rare items. So initially I came across this place by googling what places might have butterfly pea and people mentioned getting it here here. Mind you though the posts I saw on fb were over 7 months old so I figured depending on season I might be out of luck, and so I went with low hopes the first time I went and they had none. (Wonderful selection just not what I was looking for, plus I had people waiting in the car for me so I didnt really get to look more in depth into all the plants.) I did ask though as I was checking out if they would be getting some anytime soon (I really didnt want to try growing some myself from seedlings) and the lady said they should in a few weeks and even gave me a card in the case I wanted to call ahead to see if they had any. Well she wasn't lying cause I went back today and they had the plant I wanted in stock! It was an impromptu kind of trip so I didnt bother to call ahead, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it as I walked in. Also walked out with a "dragons breath" and my parter walked out with a "mexican bird of paradise" and a "boxwood basil" which we had yet to see and the few other nursery/garden stores we had been to. We'll be back every now and then to see what other unique plants we can get. 2 pics show the bigger plants we got that we repotted as soon as we got home

From the time my friend and I arrived, we did not feel welcomed. The interactions with the owner left us feeling uncomfortable, and the overall atmosphere made it seem as though we weren't wanted there. We stayed, participated in the event, and each made purchases despite how we felt. After I got home, I discovered that the shop had blocked me on Instagram, even though I had been nothing but polite during my visit. That left me confused and made an already disappointing experience feel even more personal. I reached out privately before writing this review because I wanted to give the business an opportunity to address my concerns. I explained that I had recently lost my son and had come to the shop specifically to find a plant for his memorial shelf. I also shared that I chose this shop because I wanted that purchase to come from a place that felt meaningful. While my loss was acknowledged, the response I received felt focused on policy rather than genuinely addressing my experience or the concerns I raised. I understand businesses have return policies, but kindness, accountability, and customer service matter too. I truly wanted this to be a positive experience, and I'm saddened that it wasn't. I hope this feedback encourages the business to reflect on how customers are made to feel, because that can leave a lasting impression long after a purchase is made.
