WARNING! To anyone signing up for Directv they will NEVER remove the satellite dish, EVER! I cancelled my service because of a move and they told me that I have to remove the dish and all the equipment myself and throw it in the landfill. I wonder how many Directv dishes are in our landfills. No wonder we could never get HD no matter how many times they came out. The dishes must be worthless pieces of crap made just for show. NEGATIVE 5 STARS!!!! Absolute GARBAGE!!! I got an HD tv the day the technician came out to install the basic package which included a non-HD receiver. I asked him if we could just upgrade right there on the spot and he said, "yeah, not a problem." Called in to the Directv and they said that it was easy to do and they said they upgraded us to the medium package which included an upgraded HD-DVR receiver and the NFL Sunday Ticket with the premium channels for 3 months. They also told me they would send someone out for FREE in the next 7-10 days to install the new HD-DVR receiver. On day 11 i called and asked why nobody came, and they said, "well you need to have one of the upgraded packages in order for all of that to happen, and unfortunately it is past the 7 day mark where it is going to be of charge now." The charges include: -$150 to install the new receiver -$ 360 for the NFL Sunday Ticket -$17/mo ADDITIONAL for the HD-DVR service After 3.5 weeks of arguing with them weekly, they decided to throw in the Sunday NFL Ticket and upgrade us to the medium level service which would negate the additional $17/mo charges and the "nice" customer service rep told me a hint to go buy a receiver at Best Buy for $99, to save me $50. I went to Best Buy to buy a new receiver, and the guy there said, "everyone at Directv knows that they stopped selling the receivers here 3 years ago....." The customer service rep also told me to call in when i did that and they would "flip a switch and everything would be that easy and up and running." SO....i went on to Amazon.com and bought the HD-DVR receiver (thinking it was mine since it was $170 but its still only leased out and needs to be returned at the end of the contract) to be informed that i need "B-Band converters." I had to fight for an hour and talk to 2 supervisors to not be charged for them and pay shipping. Then, when those came in i called to set it all up, thinking they would just "flip the switch" and i could watch in HD. Silly me for assuming it would be that easy with this POS company. I was then informed that i would still need to pay the extra $17/mo since there were no notes put into their system. On top of that, the receiver is not picking up a signal from the satellite.....ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!! BUT, its a good thing i live in downtown Denver, where their HQ is so conveniently located. Guess who can expect to see me on my lunch break tomorrow!? And i am not leaving until they cancel my service free of charge because i am NOT paying $480 to cancel a BS contract. Unfortunately my apartment complex is not wired for comcast cable, although i would rather not watch any tv than give Directv the satisfaction of a paying customer. read more

I am absolutely disgusted with Direct TV and they haven't even installed it yet. Was given an installation date and then it was changed upon receiving my confirmation email. Called in to get it changed back and they basically told me to deal with it they couldn't change it and wouldn't even try. Then I wanted to confirm my order. I was sold one thing and am being a half of what I payed for. They are a disgustingly gross company. If they can't even stay honest before my install why would I stick with them now. I turned the service on with them over a year ago they told me I would get some free service I ended up finding out that they were charging my credit card the whole time without me knowing it for 15 months they have been charging my credit card that has a very high interest rate they told me I needed the credit card just for them to come out. I am extremely disappointed in your service and have been for some time. In our condo we had to have 4 techs come out in less than 6 months to fix our equipment because it was not working properly. My husband called and got some compensation for the inconvenience of having our TV not work properly for the $150/mo we were paying. Not to mention we pay an extra fee to have unlimited tech support. We recently moved to a new home, and I told him I did not want DirecTV, because your equipment is not good quality, and it's always an over 30 min phone call to receive help to fix the problem or order a tech to come out. My husband said we should keep it because you guys decreased the price we have to pay each month, since we've had so much trouble with your services and equipment. We moved to our new house and had our new satellite installed on Saturday (July 6th.) right after installation our TVs begin to show an issue with the satellite. My husband called to get a tech to come back out and take a look at the newly installed satellite. We had an appointment on Monday, July 8th set from 8:00-noon. I received one text at 11:35 saying the tech was not going to make it on time. So I waited. 4:30 rolls around and still no tech with NO communication that someone wasn't going to come, so I wasted an entire day at home waiting. I spoke to a supervisor, after being on hold for over 30 min, and they gave me a $20 credit and rescheduled my appointment to today, Tues July 9th and ensured me they'd be here first thing (8:00AM) to check out our issue. 10:30 rolls around I receive a call that no tech is coming today and that they need to reschedule AGAIN. After being on the phone with you all for an hour and being transferred to 3-4 different people, I received a $25 credit from another supervisor for the inconvenience. Do you think that this is acceptable??! I've purposefully stayed home from work for 2 DAYS now to wait for someone to come take a look at our newly installed satellite, that isn't working properly (Surprise surprise)!and you want me to take another day off work to wait around on YOUR schedule, when you didn't even show up for the appointment in the first place?? We've been DirecTV customers since 2015, and even before AT&T bought you. This is horrendous customer service and I'm appalled. We are 100% cutting service with you and going the internet TV route, which is becoming increasingly more popular and cheaper, with less hassle. Unbelievably incompetent! On Saturday 10 June I had a new receiver and dish installed. Everything seemed to go smoothly and the installer was very quick and professional. However, on Thursday 22 June I started losing access to several of my stations due to a problem between the receiver and satellite signal. I contacted DirecTV Technical Support and they said a technician would be sent out on Monday 26 June between 4-8pm. On Monday 26th I left work at 3:30pm and discovered I had a voicemail from DirecTV left at 12:52pm that day stating that the technician had shown up at my address that day (presumably around 12 or 12:30pm) and, as I wasn't home, had to leave and I would have to reschedule the appointment. I wasn't supposed to be there at 12pm! Neither was the technician. He had chosen to arrive FOUR HOURS EARLY! And please note that the technician hadn't bothered to call ahead and ask if this was a good time - he simply showed up. This was not my fault and certainly not MY responsibility to fix. However, I called customer service and spoke to a lady who said she was entering a call-out to the local DirecTV office and someone there would call me within 20-30 minutes to see if the technician could come back. I never received any phone call. I contacted DirecTV technical support via the Live Chat feature on their website and the rep there promised I would get a call "within 15 minutes" from a supervisor. After 30 minutes of receiving NO phone call from anyone I called DirecTV and got to the complaints line. The lady I spoke to there again implied that the failure of my appointment was somehow my fault and rescheduled the appointment for Tuesday evening. However, I quickly realized that I was not remotely comfortable having the technician in my home as late as 8pm if the appointment was going to take 2-4 hours to complete. So I had to reschedule it again for Wednesday afternoon. 9:30am Wednesday I got a call from a local area code. I immediately answered my phone only to get total silence. Nobody was on the other end. I instantly contacted DirecTV customer service because I was convinced this was the tech trying to contact me because they'd shown up hours early again when I was at work and totally screwed up the appointment AGAIN. Sure enough, customer service confirmed that's exactly what happened and I would get a call-back within the hour. Right, like I'm going to trust them to keep their word! They couldn't get two phone calls to happen on Monday, why would I believe them capable of doing it today? This is undoubtedly the most shambolic and unprofessional customer service I have ever encountered. The incompetence this office has demonstrated has been truly breath-taking. I've sent two letters to the customer relations department but I highly doubt anything will get done. read more

I have a DVR and use it to record tv shows and football games for replay. DirecTV DVR service on football games is crap. You will never see a commercial skip or stall in replay, but you won't be able to make it through a 4-down series without DirecTV skipping, stalling, jumping and fast-forwarding. The result is annoying, ruins the flow of the game, and often prevents one from even being able to know what happened in a play. This happened today in the NFL playoff game I watched via recording. We saved for two years to buy house, and three days into it we have no power to vital parts of house. It has been an embarresment. DTV will not help you at all and you have to extend them credit so they can take 4-6 weeks to process your claim. COMICALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE Today was the last straw. I made an appointment with our former address (on the advice of the customer service rep, as it was our billing address). I spent over an hour on the phone changing the service address, and confirming the change in 3 separate phone calls. Yes, they confirmed, the technician will come to the correct address. So, I took the day off of work, and waited. And waited. Finally, the technician calls from the WRONG address, and tells me he's been ringing the doorbell. When I told me to come to the new address, he said he DIDN'T HAVE A WORK ORDER FOR THE NEW ADDRESS. So I call Direct TV, and they inform me that they can't be here until next Tuesday. RIDICULOUS. I took the day off of work, and can't afford to do that again next week. Then, the supervisor lets me know that IF they have a cancellation today they'll come out today. If not, who knows??? Yeah, someone's going to cancel on the Friday before Memorial Day. This comes on a awful string of AT&T/Direct TV customer service fails. Last week, we switched four phones to AT&T and signed up for Direct TV. It took 3 hours,15 minutes to switch the phones. Evidently the customer service rep's "Opus" system was continually crashing. But we FINALLY got the phones and everything was working - until I tried to sign into iCloud. iCloud kept requesting an unknown AppleID password. Evidently, they sold me a reconditioned phone (without letting me know), which was still tethered to someone else's iCloud account. So the next day, I go back to the store at 10 am, when they were supposed to open. I waited until 10:40 am, and no one showed up to open the store. Another day I had the miss work. I highly recommend ANY OTHER COMPANY. The treatment we've received had been horrible. read more

The technician never showed up and finally 2.5 hrs after the end of my appt time, the local company contacted me to say the technician was not coming only after I had to contact corporate 2x. When service could not be resolved at our mtn cabin, we cancelled what was supposed to be a trial service. One year later we were hit with $497 in cancellation fees and penalties. We have been customers for almost 10 years and we finally got tired of them raising their prices every year. Now that we discontinued our service it has been impossible to give them back their equipment! I have called 3 times to have them send me shipping labels as I have a $244 bill for equipment! The third time I called for shipping labels they transferred me 4 times back and forth between technical support then equipment returns until I finally hung up. Why should it be this hard to return their equipment?! Now I have to drive an hour away to a UPS store on my day off to send them back their equipment. I'm not really a fan of any of the internet/TV/Phone providers, but my experience with DirectTV has gone smoothly. The installer arrived on time, and set everything up pretty quickly. We were still having some issues with the satellite signal, and after I called a technician came out the next day, and they gave me a new SWM unit (much bigger than the old one) and everything has worked great ever since. My dish is at the side of my house within easy reach, and once during a massive snow storm we lost several channels - going out and clearing the snow off the dish fixed it. It can take a surprising amount of snow on the dish before there are any issues with the signal. This was my biggest worry, and it's really not a problem. After about 6 months of service, I attempted to use the DVR on the secondary receiver (whole-house DVR) and found that it didn't work. I called up, and they found that the second receiver wasn't setup properly to work with the DVR on the primary receiver. They fixed it remotely, and refunded me in arrears for the months I paid without it working. I'm currently 21 months into my 2-year contract, and paying $67/mo for HD service on 2 TVs, which I'm happy with. The DVR feature is very nice, and we use it often. I'm just hoping that my bill doesn't go up when the 2 years is up - I'm current;y getting a $35 "discount" so the bill could potentially go up to $100/mo in a few months, which is more than I want to pay. If they can keep the current price, I will keep the service - overall it has been very good, and the HD signal looks great. I like being able to hide the channels I don't watch as well. read more

We tried to get a new remote control and we went to a local service center and they said they didn't carry them there. When calling customer service, they wanted $50 for a new controller and a new 2-year contract. Ridiculous right? It's just a remote controller. Then, we had a Dish representative in our neighborhood and he offered us a really good deal. Before we switched, we tried to be loyal customers to see if they could offer us a deal and they customer service rep said they couldn't do that. She said that they couldn't do it - the rates were only for new customers. You would think that a company would want to keep it's current customers right? WRONG! When asked to speak to a supervisor, she said no. That's when we decided to go to Dish. The guy offered us an awesome deal so we switched the very next day (which was yesterday). We were with DIRECTV for over 5 years - and to think this all started over a remote controller and bad customer service. read more

DirectTV actually used our debit card info to divert a payment to our internet provider (we used to bundle our payments, but not since January) to their account which nullified our payment to the internet provider. They then took that diverted amount and made an unauthorized payment of the internet provider's amount plus an additional monthly service charge to their account for an amount of over $130. Directv has the same picture as all the other cable companies, nothing is different between them besides price. Directv hikes the price up on you for the second year of service, my service is going from 60 a month to 100 a month.... Way to treat a loyal customer!! It is literally cheaper to cancel than to keep the service. If you want to speak with a customer service rep you will always have to wait then get treated like dirt when they do finally answer. These people dont ever fight with you but they will come off extremely snide and smug. The customer service constantly puts you on hold, I was put on hold 3 seperate times in one phone call for at least 8 minutes each time... For simple questions like what is the price of my bill, how long have I been a customer etc. I am extremely dissapointed. Example of service price: 1st year of service $65.00 a month 2nd year of service 101.00 a month Difference of $36 a month $36 a month for 12 months= $432 additional dollars for second year of service To cancel service it costs $20 a month for each additional month plus a one time $15 dollar fee so... $20 at 12 months cost 240+15=$255 to cancel after one year of service $432( additional cost of second year of service)-$255( cancel fees)= $177( amount saved) If you cancel service after your first year you can actually save $177 dollars even with paying all the cancellation fees. The customer service reps told me I could always come back even after a couple days as long as all my fees were paid. My question is why would anyone stay with them the second year of the contract? Additionall when you start service many times you get promotional deals like free hbo or stars etc for 3 months... so why keep the same channels you have now after one year when you can cancel, get more channels and pay less every month and save money? read more

DON'T GET DIREVCT TV IF YOU WANT TO WATCH MOVIES ON-DEMAND. Sometimes you will be able to watch the selected movie without interuption. And other times, fairly often, I might add, you will just start to get into the movie and WHAM: a big box appears on the screen that says "Buffering" and you will no longer be able to continue watching. I am totallty serious. And this happen to me more than 50% of the time. Tried calling customer service because I assumed they would fix it. WRONG. They actually told me I have to live with it. The agent said it happens to him all the time and he has learned to accept it!! I have over a year on my contract and am trying to get out of it. If I could give Direct Tv no stars, I would Direct Tv is more concerned with advertizing non stop than in providing a service. When you try to use the website for the guide, you are consistanly kicked off. Even more irritating is that they also reset your setting so that when you log back in, you have to reset everything. Any common sense company would have a separate page for a guide that someone can use so that you don't have to wade through everything that they want to sell you or every promotion they want you to see. When I signed up for Direct TV, I thought I would have a good choice of channels but they do not offer The Blaze which I really wanted and most of there channels are either clones or trash. I would do almost anything to get out of the contract that I was talked into except lie about the company or pay the exorbitant fee they require for ending it early. In 2014, a salesman at Sam's Club SCAMmed me into signing up for Direct TV at $44.99/Mo - $10 Sam's Club discount, so $34.99. A few months later, my bill went up. I'd call to inquire; they'd remove something I hadn't requested; maybe drop it $10; but then it would go up again; repeat until I was paying $121.09; more than triple what I was promised. Then they gave me a 10 buck discount, so $111.09. Shortly after my 24 month contract was over, I canceled. Then the phone calls start trying to get me to come back. How can I make it right? I asked for them to either refund or give me a credit for the amount over $34.99 I was charged over a 2 year period. That'd silence them. Then today, July 5th, 2016 at 4:36 PM, they called again. Why'd you leave? Because you lied to me! Then I asked them to quit calling me. He can't guarantee I wouldn't get called again. "You better not call me again!" Signed a 2 year contract with promotional price for 1 year. The price went up so much after the first year, even with paying out the $200 cancellation fee, we are still saving more money by going to Century Link Prism TV. We will save over $600 in one year with the new provider, that is beyond crazy!!! We even told the Direct TV sales rep that they would lose a customer for life if they could not wave the fee or bring down the price to match what is out there from other providers. They did not care and are making us pay the $200 cancellation price. We would not recommend this company to anyone and we will never use their service again. Buyer beware! Improper billing issues and it takes an hour of your life to try to get them reversed. Numerous scams to try to get you locked in NFL Sunday ticket even though I canceled three months before ether season started. No accountability. No way to report bad service representatives as they won't give you an identification number -- just their first name and that they work in the "united states." Gee, thanks, you dope. After over two hours on the phone with customer service and talking to five different people, I was still unable to resolve a billing problem. I tried to contact the initial individual who helped me only to find there is no way to connect to the same person (had her name and employee number but apparently that doesn't mean anything). Two people actually put me on hold for over 40 minutes and then hung up. Customer Service sucks. Cannot resolve this issue over the phone. Pray you never have any problems - you will NEVER be able to get it resolved. They owe me a credit, therefore they won't do anything. Today I had to replace a 4k mini with the new one. I received it overnight as I have for another previous replacement. I have always had the best service with "chat"..phone in or visits from the techs. Just take what you need to fix slow and don't get so pissed off! What happened to Direct TV? Customer service used to be world class. The viewing experience was awesome. I have been a customer of DTV for many years. I have been in constant contact with them for the past six months attempting to correct the many problems with our service. In that period of time I have been lied to and mistreated over the phone. The installer destroyed our furniture. I have been hung up on by one of their so called customer service representatives. They lied and said that we would receive a $200 gift card at sign up. After many attempts to claim this we just gave up. Some of the issues that we have been working with over the last six months include DVR shuts off when you fast forward. We then have to wait ten minutes for it to reboot. Satellite boxes are unable to access programs from Main DVR. Programs record with black screen and sound or picture and no sound. Random programs recording. We are on our third replacement box and five technicians have been out. I have attempted to cancel my service on three separate occasions and each time they tell me that I have to give them a reasonable opportunity to correct the problem. That's been six months. How much time is reasonable? I'm not sure what happened to Direct TV. Their service is horrible now. You would do much better to go with Dish and at least save the money and get the same crappy service. Or better yet just unplugging go with streaming. read more

Dear Mr. Direct tv and centurylink I am a new costumer and I have to say this cable company is a shit hole !! I am very unhappy with your services and even your costumer service does not have a clue what they are talking about!! I was an xinfinity costumer and I have never had to deal with the stress and disappointment I have had with calling about a problem or help and it seems that when ever I call direct tv or centurylink I am left in distressed and a very unhappy costumer !! I have been a customer since 2007, and I am fed up!! I have been trying to get a refund of a credit on my account for almost three weeks! I was first told it would be escalated, and returned to my account via EFT. When I called back because I had not received it, I was told I had to wait 5 - 10 business days. Today is the 9th business day, and so I called to check the status, only to be on hold for over 50 minutes, then told it would take another 5 - 10 business days because they made a data entry error for the reason for my refund. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was hung-up on. Everyone promises to fix it, although no one can make it happen. They are losing a good customer read more
