Here's the Cliff's Notes version of this place: impeccable eyebrow threading, cheaper than cheap prices, decor that can be found in your local alley, captivating 20" television playing Bollywood, one road runner version of an eyebrow shaper. May I recommend that you stay away from waxing anything between your underarms and your legs, if you know what I mean. Speed does not equal quality in the case of your nether regions. Otherwise, face, legs, arms, go for it! A "salon" that beckons during these tough economic times. read more

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE this woman. Ive been seeing her for the past 7 years and everytime I risk using someone else I always regret it. Her prices are absolutely great, she is quick, and you never have to wait for long. Ive been to other so called upscale salons for hair removal and no one has compared to her efficiency. Sure her location can use an upgrade, its not the flashiest of places but she always gets the job done right and at a reasonable price. I dont have to worry about paying the inflated costs of all these "upscale" salons. read more

Others have said it better than I can express... Dipti is amazing. Cheap, fast, friendly, experienced!

Best place ever for eyebrows!!! So cheap and fast! I am super anal about my eyebrows and I can't love them more!!!

Worth the drive over, past the places n Devon. My eyebrows have never looked this good.

Dipti's is what it is. Quick Cheap service. I got a brazillian- yes painful but she was so quick that I was more in shock that the pain was bearable. I was expecting a slow painful experience but she was bing bang boom. Then did my eyebrows. Including tip 50 bucks. You cannot beat that. I'll be back to dipti from now on thanks again. read more

I drive 50 minutes every week to go to Dipti's - NO ONE can thread like her, she is the absolute best! You might have to wait though, even if you get there early, but that just tells you how awesome she is. I have tried out other places much closer to home and they cannot compare. She is totally worth my drive. Also, the girls who wax there are just as great - they wax me better than the higher-priced salons at less than half the price. Bottom line, cheap price and EXCELLENT Quality - you can't beat that! read more

Been going to Dipti for over 10 yrs, found out about the place from a co-worker. Eyebrows are always on point and a great price. Dipti even got a credit card machine recently! read more

Dipti was my go to for Brazilian waxing for almost 4 years now. I went to her because she was fast and very affordable compared to other waxing places, only $40! Unfortunately they only accept cash so make sure to have it ready beforehand! I was still even going to her even though I moved from Skokie to Roscoe Village. I liked going to her because I was literally in and out from the place within 5-10 minutes and it was super cheap. I'm giving this place 4 stars because not everything comes off during the waxing and she double dips the stick that she uses, which is unsanitary. I also don't see her sanitizing her hands before and after she's working on me. I've also noticed a difference on how she pulls the waxing strip off me compared to the recent waxing lady I saw. She would pull the waxing strip off so hard and fast, and yes it does hurt. She would also request me to pull my skin towards my stomach so it helps her get all the hairs out. Unfortunately I would still have fine hairs left behind, she wouldn't even pluck them. Would I still go back to her? Maybe if I'm on a tighter budget or I'm in the area. read more

I miss Dipti! I live in Boston now and do my own eyebrows (pluck - ugh). I have searched for eyebrow threading service and what have I found? Well, not much but when I do, it's usually $20 or more! So, you guys who still live in Chicago and see Dipti are lucky. She is worth the wait. read more

Worst experience ever! I had to get my eyebrows done and I decided to go to Dipti regardless of the horrible things I've heard about her, I decided to still go there and check it out myself. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I've been growing out my eyebrows for the past year and I just needed a cleaning. I specially told Dipti to just clean and I pointed out to her where to thread and where not to touch. After she was finished, I thought my eyes where playing tricks on me but realized that she waxed most of my eyebrows off. I WAS TERRIFIED. I couldn't believe what she had done. I was calm and pointed out what she did and she kept denying it and continued to thread someones eyebrows. She didn't even stop to apologize. Not only did she take most of my eyebrows off, they were uneven and i ran out of there in tears. I really couldn't believe what she had done to my eyebrows and her lack of professionalism. I don't understand how people still go to her and how she stays in business. The place is filthy and smells horrible. She is rude and doesn't listen to what the customer has to say and does whatever she feels like. I don't recommend anyone to go there. read more

Best threading of eyebrows EVER!! Been seeing Dipti for over 16yrs!! Very quick, painless and best of all CHEAP. Can't beat it. Wouldn't trust anyone but her with my brows :) read more

The absolute best and I've been everywhere. She's fast and good. Bikini waxes are never fun but it's so fast it's really over before you know it. Prices are extremely reasonable. Usually easy parking in front and hardly ever a wait. read more

I have been going to Diptis for at least the last 5 years and although I was satisfied with the end results, especially for the price, this 'salon' has really gone down hill in the last year. I was willing to put up with this less than hygienic shop because of the prices as long as the younger, somewhat rude, woman did the prep. She would wax lip and eyebrows and then Dipti would come in for the finish. And even with a full house I never waited more than half an hour. This year things are different. Gone are the long lines and although Dipti still has her helpers she has been waxing and threading me. And I don't like it. She is rough, sloppy and my eyebrows have never looked so bad. I kept going back hoping to get one of the other women but Dipti is relentless. So that's it for me. I have tried a few other places but was reluctant to switch just because I tend to be loyal and always hope things will get better but after a year of this I have to say so long. For those who continue to go you should ask that the wax sticks be changed - double dipping is really gross! I often wondered if Dipti changed her glove after she did a bikini or brazilian or even washed her hands. read more

First time at Dipti's. The salon doesn't look nice or upscale but the service... It was my first time getting my legs waxed and try brazilian bikini. The girl did an awesome job. Fast and painless. I will definitely come back. read more

Went here for the first time today after not being able to find anyone to do a good job threading in Valparaiso, and omg my eyebrows look great! Dipti did my eyebrows in .5 seconds and they look sooo perfect! I will definitely be coming back! I think I found my new go-to place! read more

Visited here per the suggestion of a "regular" here. I didn't know what to expect, I have never let anyone else do my eyebrows in over 7 years but my normal lady was out of town. Long story short, I go here and very impressed with how great my eyebrows turned out. I didn't get a chance to catch the lady's name but I do believe she is the owner. She was super fast, super friendly and understanding how I felt about my eyebrows, lol!! Overall, it was a great visit, would def go back! read more

She lost me as a customer. She does ok eyebrows... nothing really out of the ordinary, and shes really fast. But about a year ago, which was my last visit there, she was waxing my eyebrows, and asks me, "do you want a lip wax also?" I didnt really want to get one so i said "no thank you ill pass this time." She DEFINITELY heard me, hence shes hovering right over my face doing my brows, but the next thing i know is i feel hot wax on my lip as she says, "oh you need it." I was literally so shocked and not in the mood to argue and of course she charged me for the lip wax too. Are you kidding me? I was furious she forcefully pretty much stole my money by giving me a service i didn't want. I paid and left and never coming back again. So be careful! She is super sneaky. and obviously only cares about the money. read more

Cheap, quick and the owner did a pretty good job. I didn't give her more stars because I was there for threading and she used mostly wax on my eyebrows. Not once did she ask how I wanted them done, probably not use her services again. read more

Dipti and her assistants are the best! I've been coming here for years. I also also recommend my friends and family, everyone is pleased with her services read more

Do not ever come here for a wax!!!! I had a Brazilian done and the process was extremely painful which I wouldn't have minded if the results were worth it. The wax was very fast yes, but it's because she pulls out a huge portion of hair at once and results were the poorest of quality. I still have a ton of obvious visible strays and just broken hairs which Im prAying doesn't lead to ingrowns. It doesn't even look like I had a wax done honestly or even resemble what it would after a fresh shave. I also have a ton of bruising on my bikini line. Wish had done my research first to avoid this horrible experience read more

Fastest hands in Chicago when it comes to threading! No one beats Dipti and boy can that woman shape your eyebrows like theres no tomorrow! I been coming here since high school & have never been disappointed. She will tell you straight up to how you should have your eyebrows or if you effed them up, in a nice way though of course haha. Her salon is small, but not uncomfortable, and she has plenty of chairs. The wait time isn't bad despite all the customers, as I said before, she threads like crazy. Besides, you can pass the time by watching the Bollywood movie she constantly has blaring through the television and hum along under your breath like her assistants do. Unless she isnt too busy, you pull a number and wait for your turn. She charges for eyebrows and upper lip threading $8. She used to be waaay cheaper than that, but hey now that she has her own salon, she gotta pay the rent right? And with her expertise, I would say it is well worth the price! The only sucky thing is she doesn't accept credit cards, just check and cash, but she is so amazing at what it does, you will make the effort to keep cash on you for this! read more

If you guys think $7 is cheap for eyebrow threading, check out the many salons on Devon Ave or within the vicinity that usually charge around $4 or $5 and you can get multiple things done (haircuts, dye, facials, etc) at the same time! I went to Dipti's and was not happy with her at all! Considering I pay $7 at my current salon which is in a much busier area, I get excellent service, they listen, and they are fast! Dipti was on her phone the entire time and she chopped off half my brow and then denied doing it when it was quite visible even to the two employees working for her. Her solution: you can pencil it in! Yea, never going back there again! read more

I have been going to Dipti's for over 10yrs your can not beat her eyebrow shaping and waxing techniques I drive all the way from Indiana love you Dipti Sonya Swann read more

Best eyebrow threader in Chicago, look no where else. I've followed Dipti throughout her locations and am happy that she still is around after 10+ years. She's nice and sweet and always remember me. Eyebrow threading is about $7 plus tip and plenty of street parking. I usually go on a weeknight as weekends can be pretty rough. I've heard and have experienced the long lines. The interior is simple, and it's an open setting which everyone sees you get your eyebrows, facial waxing. She does have a back closed room for bikini or any other areas. Overall, it's worth the trip to the north side. read more

I went to Dipt's for a few years, why not-I lived in the neighborhood. Was always ok, NEVER stellar. She is ALWAYS on the phone. Translate-not really listening to you when you describe what you want. She pretends, nods her head yes and then goes ahead and does what she wants anyway. Sometimes what you want. I have actually had a better experience with her two associates. The one that just got married recently-her husband is still overseas I believe? She actually listens and makes suggestions. I don't appreciate the fact that they speak another language right over your face as you are in the chair. I speak 2 languages myself and would never be so rude as to speak "over " someone as I am performing a service such as this. I have to say I love the Bollywood movies, though! I have recently moved and found a FANTASTIC woman at We care Hair. on Kimball and lawrence. HEr name is Aisha or Asia-I have heard it pronounced both ways. She is always using the chair directly behind the receptionist. Beautiful shapes! read more

Love this place! Cheap, clean and very friendly service! Im so glad I live so close to this place!

I have been going to dipti for 15 years ... I moved 50 miles away about a year ago, tried new places & no one does as good of job as her! She is quick , painless & knows exactly what fits your face... I have thick , coarse eye brows that grow in all directions & she cleans them up beautifully ... will be returning. The drive is worth it & her services are inexpensive read more

I have been going to Dipti for several years now and regularly get compliments on my eyebrows. The salon is no frills, but it's cheap and the quality of what she does is impeccable. Weekends and evenings it can be quite busy, so if you can, go during the day to avoid the wait. read more

I've been going to dipti ever since I was about 13 and she had been running her business out of her house... Love love love the threading! There's always a few stray hairs just sitting around, but it's worth it by how many compliments I get. Hoorah for Dipti! =D read more

I can't say anything about the eyebrows, but DO NOT go here for waxing. The waxing process was so painful! She did not care about my comfort at all. They also burnt my skin around my underarms. I have been getting my underarms waxed for years now and have been to many different places, and this has never happened to me. The skin around the hair line is literally burnt - its chaffing and red, and now that it's healing, it's so itchy. Dont get a wax here! read more

Dipti didn't do a good job plus I went in for THREADING not wax. I'm not happy will not go back

Dipti does the best eyebrows, period. I have had strangers stop me to compliment my eyebrows after a visit to Dipti's. The salon is very bare bones, but I actually enjoy the no-frills atmosphere. Even though she does each client at lightning speed, Dipti is always incredibly warm and friendly and manages to remember you even if you haven't been to her salon in a year. On top of that, you really can't beat the price. I have since moved to New York, and have yet to find someone who does my brows as well as Dipti. read more

I have been going to Dipti's for almost 10 years now. If you are looking for a cheap place to get your eyebrows and upper lip done, this is the place to go... only $10! Sure, it's not glamorous... but they get the job done! It's not as busy these days due to the economy (I heard Dipti say that). I normally go later in the day after work on a weekday and there is rarely ever a wait. Stay away from Saturday mornings because that's the busiest time. read more

I'm so pissed off right now!! I went Saturday to get my cheeks waxed, b4 I sat in the chair I distinctly asked her would I break out, or how high was the probability..she assured me the waxed she uses is very gentle..needless 2 say I basically begin 2 break out immediately..her employee that actually performed the waxing told me 2 keep apply alcohol..It didnt work..I now have white heads all over my cheeks & jaw bones..I just googled waxing/face/whiteheads & sure enough this is common..4 her 2 do this as a job daily & not tell me or know that white heads r common after facial waxing is unexceptable..I made a dermatology appt w/ Dr Lio in wicker park 1 of the best in the business, 2 bad I have 2 wait until 9-6..hopefully he prescribes retinin A & it leaves quickly.. read more

I read all the great yelp reviews and decided to try to place. I needed a bikini was so walked in and they sent me to room 1. The room was dirty and disgusting (which should have made me walk out but I stuck it out). There were windows between the different rooms covered in blinds but the blinds were slightly broken so I could totally see into the next room! I waited a few minutes then a lady came in and did the wax in about a minute. It was, by far, the most PAINFUL wax I've ever had - an hour later and i'm still in pain (and I've had tons of bikini waxes before). Afterwards she didn't even clean the wax off, she just covered the area in baby powder then walked out so now my downstairs looks like casper the ghost visited... If that wasn't enough, she double dipped and when I looked at the uncovered wax when I was done, it was so dirty! I will most definitely NEVER return here. read more

Come on ladies 45 dollars for a three minute warp speed hold on to the table Brazilian. Save money and time. What is not to love? I have been here twice as just moved to area and although far from glamorous, she must have redone the place since the many reviews about funk as it is not gross . I am a clean freak easily sicked out by nastiness. Dipti's technique is fast and furious and in the 10 plus years I have been getting brazilians I have to say she is the master. Master of the V waxing. If Olympics had girl part waxing competition she would win gold. read more

Love Dipti! I don't trust anyone else in the salon to do my eyebrows and upper lip. I've been a client for over 10yrs.

If you want to look beautiful with spending very little money go to this place. Absolutely ask for the owner lady to do your brows, she is quick, accurate and funny. I haven't had good experience with any of the other girls, but that's because they have waxed my brows when i specifically ask for threading. Why would I go into a place like this wanting waxing; it's a threading salon? read more

It was my first visit at her salon today and luckily no other customer was there. I got my eyebrows, upper lip and chin done in no time and very effectively too! Found an Indian connection and all of this at a very reasonable price! I think this will be my salon till the time I'm here! :) read more
