I recently relinquished possession of my Walter doggy to my sister. She has a big yard and a whole orchard for him to chase weasels and lay in the dirt. He's crazy for that stuff. He loves it so much that when they rigged up a backpack for him, he even helped them pick citrus fruit. (See my pics!) At home, I couldn't even put a paper bowl on his head to wear as a hat, let alone make him do any kind of work. Regardless, being a migrant worker is dirty business. So, when I visited last weekend, I had to show my sister how to bathe the mutt. At home, he will struggle until his death before he gets in the tub. Being 140 lbs, you can't just pick him up and put him in the bath. So, doggy wash it is. He acts a lot more gentlemanly in public. Jerk. The staff working here was very friendly and helped get Walter in the tub. The only real downside is that their tubs are way up high and they have to give you this ladder/stairs thing for your dog to climb up. I'm actually surprised my dog went up without trying to commit suicide first. I imagine that next time wont be so simple, now that he knows what's up. Also, the tub walls aren't very high... so, you really have to watch your dog so he doesn't make an escape. Other than that, it's a pretty great set up. The water is warm and each tub has it's own station with brushes, shampoo, and your own blow dryer. The doggy wash I used by my house had only one blow dryer and you had a 20 minute time limit when others are waiting. Walter is a fluffy beast and takes longer than that to dry, so he'd often leave a bit damp (and still stinky.) For a nominal fee, the staff will also step in and do things that you can't or don't want to do (anal glands, anyone?) The groomer cut Walter's nails and didn't even give him a panic attack. After his visit he was so soft and fluffy, and he didn't smell like an ape. It was especially hard to leave him. :( read more

We love this place for self serve dog washing. We have a big black lab that sheds quite a bit and an older lab/Beagle mix both harder to bathe at home. We can do it in the house when it's hot out, but with the cooler weather it's great to come and use the self serve tubs and leave the hair behind! They give you a basket with a brush, shampoo and towel. They have aprons you can wear to try to stay relatively dry. Bring baby shampoo for your dogs face though, as the one they provide is not tearless. I also bring my own flea shampoo. The staff is super nice and the owner Ceec is really friendly and helpful. WTF?! Okay it takes really bad customer service to get a one star rating from Big Sid, so you can already imagine how this is gonna go. After checking out so many of the reviews on this place I was very excited to bring the dog here. I was very disappointed at the lack of friendliness from the front desk, the lack of cleanliness to the store & wash areas, and very disappointed at the lack of options on shampoos, conditioners, etc. Please "let me explain", Saturday early afternoon walked in with my small dog for a nice bath, and as soon as we walked in, Big Sid "the Great One", almost had an asthma attack from the lack of cleanliness. Big Sid saw fur EVERYWHERE!!! Perhaps Big Sid was expecting to much. Maybe being clean similar to a veterinarian office? No. Windows, sprinkler system, pipes, floor, counter top, and chairs! "C'mon Man" really? Walked to the front counter with two people standing there, one female on the phone (holding), the other male standing there. He says, "Hi, right this way." This guy didn't ask, Have you been here before?, How may I help you?, Do you know how this works?, or ANYTHING. Wow... So we start washing the dog, in a tub with clogged drain, and watered down shampoo. Is this really happening? We kept looking around for help, asking different shampoos, conditioners, a different rub even, and No one behind the counter even acted like the gave a SHIT!!! This was unreal. It literally was an eye opener to how a business SHOULD NOT be ran. As a business owner, if I saw any of my employees doing this, they would ALL be fired. I love this place! My dog Chuck is a little beastly monster (said with love) and he looks so beautiful when I pick him up from here. I leave him for the stay and play while grooming and he gets to play with the other dogs. I love that I can see him through the front windows. Not like other places where they put your dog behind closed doors and you have to cross your fingers. We also had Chuck stay for boarding on our trips and he always comes back happy. This place is great! The place is relatively easy to find, has a cute style and awesome self serve idea. They are friendly, patient and very good at what they do. They had a good special running and thanks to that I got a good full grooming price for both of my dogs and a $3 off their next groom! My pups came out looking very happy (kind of sad to leave which is always good), smelling amazing in both mouth and coat and looking cute with their new bandanas. One of my dogs was looking as white as ever and the other had his belly rash all gone thanks to a fantastic oatmeal shampoo. Great service for nail trims. We take our 4 chihuahuas to see Cees the owner to get their nails trim. We live on the other side of Oceanside and make the trip passing up other shops because our dogs love her and her staff. Every time Cees sees them she shouts "there's my babies". Great attitude to had off your dogs to because you can trust they will take care of them. We never self wash them there but the tubs seem clean with well stocked products to use. read more

We have been going to dippity for quite some time and have never had a problem when it came to my previous dogs who have now passed away. But recently we took our two 1 year old american bulldogs to get groomed and I wasnt very happy when I picked them up. One of them had a raw spot at the top of his nose as if they had used the spa scrub we purchased too rough . When I had asked about it, there was a mysterious story created about how he had possibly done it while in the kennel , which is absurd bc they are perfectly Kennel trained and mellow if that! . When I asked for the owner to call me, I never received a call back. Unfortunately I cant trust them with my dogs and wont be coming back. read more

Once again, the folks at Dippity Dog Wash have done an excellent job grooming my pooch. He looks perfect! And, let me tell you my dog is no picnic when it come to being groomed. He hates the grooming process, and always has. He was a rescue and treated rough when a puppy so we suspect this is why he is so difficult for the groomers. He's been fired from two other shops for bad behavior. But, at Dippity Dog they work really hard to make his experience pleasant, and he always comes out looking great and in great spirits. What a treat to find such a great place for our dogs. The service was exceptional, the grooming perfect and the dogs were happy. Give your dogs a real treat and take them there. They have 'wash your own' as well as full grooming. We picked the grooming and the groomer suggested we try a trim rather than a full cut. This, he said, will tell us if we are all on the same page...what is short for one is different that what is short for another. We just picked up our Siberian husky and let me tell you SHE IS GORGEOUS. She was shedding her undercoat and her fur was impacted and she came out as if she lost 20 pounds. Our husky usually doesn't enjoy blow dryers but Cees and the girls worked with it and made it enjoyable for my husky. We had a wonderful first experience! The staff was really nice and helpful. We washed, dried, and combed our big german shepherd Sam. He was not happy about it, but it was so much easier than doing it at home. 17.00 dollars later we had a clean dog and we were completely wet! I love this place. Super easy self serve wash! Not only do they give you everything you need. Shampoo, leave in conditioner, cologne, ear cleaner and brushes but they also have a super awesome and friendly staff. If your a first time customer they walk you through the whole process and the tubs are raised so I don't have to bend over to wash my pup! I honestly do not know how I haven't reviewed Dippity Dog...Max and Abby know it by name, even after we were transferred away for three years! Well, we are back in Cali, and they are happy to see Cees. This place is the best, and so is the staff. I can't get my beasts into our tub as it is, and they have the best ladder so the kids climb right into the tubs...okay, sometimes they need a little encouragement. The shampoo is ready, towels, and the blow dryers are the best!! Plus, the kiddos see our nail clippers and run the other direction, so paying the extra and having the groomers clip the claws is SO worth it. And cage free boarding?? Everything here is awesome, and we are so thankful that we did not have to worry about this ONE thing when we moved back to Oceanside. Thanks guys!! read more

Our dog got skunked at 11:00 p.m. We were at Dippity-Dog first thing in the next morning. The staff was very helpful telling us what bring with us to get the awful skunk juice out of the poor dogs fur. No more skunk stink now. We plan on using Dippty-Dog on a regular basis. Two people working together can wash, blow & bush out in less than 30 mins. For $14 bucks. You can't beat it! read more

We use Dippity-Dog for boarding and grooming. The great thing about DD is that the owner, Cees, really loves dogs and it seems like she only hires people who love dogs as well. The grooming services are great. Be very specific when you're telling them what you want. If you tell them exactly how you want your dog groomed, then that is what you will get. We love to board our dogs here as well. They take them on 3 walks a day, which is great, but you might want to have them feed your dogs a little more than usual. Prices are on par with what you would pay anywhere else. read more

Cees is a very experienced groomer. We were nervous for her as we took our 7-month old puppy and told her the last groomer couldn't even finish as she kept biting. We told Cees that we've been doing obedience classes and she's been doing better. Cees did a beautiful job and our puppy was very happy. We also took our older dog and Cees told us about her dislike for people touching her front paws but Cees was able to groom her, too. We're going back to Cees for our grooming. We're happy, the dogs are happy and it's closer to our home than the other place. I highly recommend her! read more

This place is awesome! They not only offer self serve grooming tubs but also is a full service pet spa. I had a hard time finding a groomer in the area I like and didn't try them at first because I thought based on their description it was self serve only but then my friend referred me there. I will only take my English Bulldog Roxey here from now on, after I took her in not knowing she was not feeling well they took extra good care of her and even did a courtesy call a few days later to see how my bullie was feeling. I have been going to Dippity Dog for 12 years now. My large dogs are 13 and 14 years old and Cees was truly amazing today. My dogs can't stand in the tub for a bath any more but Cees did their nails for me. Both of my dogs are rescued and have special needs. Cees got down on the ground with them hugged them both and did their nails. She has the kindest spirit ever.
