The Dino

My dad sent me a video review where someone said the sandwiches at this place were "phenomenal." Since it wasn't a far drive, I tried it out. It definitely does have a very New York feel when you walk in. I tried the Dino without the wine vinegar because I didn't want to the bread to be soggy. My total for a whole sandwich and a bag of chips was $17.05. The staff were friendly and seem to care about customer service. This came at the expense of speed (because they were ensuring order accuracy and actually engaging with customers), but it was worth it. Overall, I'd recommend this place off of just one sandwich. I will definitely be back to try others, though I doubt they can top The Dino!

The place

It was a Friday morning Dr. appointment and I was hungry after annual exam and bloodwork. So I drove to Arlington, TX because everyone keeps saying good subs here. They were right I was greeted with a hello and smile the young lady asked which sandwich and bread white or wheat. Next I guided to the angel of veggies and condiments she put together those sandwiches with so much love and patience of a surgeon. The decor is simple booths and seating for eating good food only. I love it as the subs were delicious I got the number 17 and wife number 9.

I must say that I was intimidated by the menu board. I don't know what to order and the line was moving fast, so the pressure was on. I tried to look for my usual sandwich. I ordered at delis which is an Italian sub, but I couldn't find it on the menu so I got what was closest to it. I can't remember the sandwich number, but it was very good. They put the right amount of condiments and meat on the sandwich. The bread was fresh. Service was good and quick. Plenty of table and seats inside for eating and a nice size parking lot.

Dino's does old school, no fuss sandwiches and the vibes of the store are super chill with plenty of locals and the game playing on their TVs. You order before finding and bussing your own table. They've got a good size lot and parking was pretty easy even on a weekend. We went for a late lunch around 1PM on a Sunday and there was still a pretty decent line (~14 people). I will say you should come with some extra time on your hands as since they slice meats and cheeses to order, the trade off for quality is it takes a bit of time to assemble. It took us about 20 - 25 minutes before everyone got their sandwiches. Overall, the ingredients are fresh and the sandwiches are hefty (though they are nearly $20). Staff are generous with the amount of meat and the bread is a classic, soft roll. Lemonade is definitely powdered, but sometimes all you want is to know exactly what you're gonna get. Nothing ground breaking here and maybe I'd be a regular if I was a local, but if you aren't in the area, it's not really an experience to travel out of the way for.

This is a rock solid sub sandwich restaurant. Staff is always fun and smiling, food is always fresh and great tasting. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting and always clean. Great place, great people, and great food.

Have long heard that this place is one of the best sandwich shops in the metroplex. I found that it didn't disappoint but that it also wasn't worth a 30 minute drive for me personally. Right when you walk in you get the old sandwich shop/diner feel and vibes. Smells fantastic, old school lettered menu up above where the sandwiches are being made. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. I went with a #11 on wheat (recommended by the first worker) got the works (lettuce onion tomato vinegar s&p and Parmesan cheese) and got Dino sauce (red and green peppers marinated in garlic.) Loads of ham, peppered beef, salami, bologna, pepperoni, and cappocollo, with cheese as well. Bread was fresh and soft, first thing I noticed. Ingredients are solid and fresh, and even though I got mustard on the sandwich with the sauce and works, I still found the sandwich somewhat dry. Still very good, just not up to the expectations I had coming in from the hype I had read about and seen. Still a must try if you're in the area, and I will try it again next time I'm in Arlington.

What is going on? I've been going to Dino's since the early 90s to the present. I have never got a sandwich like the one I got today. The meat and bread was barely there. The sandwich bread was so thin and they are now cutting the meat paper thin. Just not worth the price to pay anymore.

I always enjoy my Big D /No 11 sandwich on Wheat. I get mine with mayo and spicy mustard with easy lettuce anders everything else except onions, tomatoes, salt. I get black pepper as a substitute for the salt. The service is always friendly and they offer Apple Pay. Been coming here since they opened in 1980. Never disappointed in the food or service! I've come to prefer them over Great Outdoors. I still like The Great Outdoors when I'm in Fort Worth on Camp Bowie.

Today, the craving, lead me over to Dino's Subs. If you've never been over there before they're in Arlington institution. They've been around since the 1980s and it doesn't look like anything has changed. In that happy way that reminds you of your childhood. The food is amazing as always, the bread is freshly made in house and they don't cut the meat or the cheese until you order the sub. Everything is made to order, and it is perfection. I grabbed it a pack of chips and tea and enjoyed my big D. I sat one of their miniature Booths, and watch a steady stream of people come in and order their sub. I don't think there's ever a dead time at Dino's, people are always coming in. Sometimes they trickle sometimes a long line, but that's because this place is amazing, a hidden gem.

#19 - The Dino

We've heard wonderful things about Dino's and decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed! The meats and cheeses are sliced to order. The fully dressed subs were delicious! And of course, we had to try the carrot cake. It was amazing!

Always great sandwiches. The place was busy as usual but the wait was not long at all. Dinos is a classic, just one of those places you have to try to appreciate. No better subs in Arlington.

Been going to Dino's for over a decade... was just there recently and thought to post a review. I grew up on hoagies/subs in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area. Always a staple. In Texas, GOOD ones are hard to find. Either poor quality in meat or portioning, or the bread is terrible. I found Dino's, I found a taste of home. I always get either the #7 or #11, always with the works and "Dino dressed." The marinated peppers are SO GOOD. Heaping portions, even for a single portion. Get the double, if you dare. I'll bring my mom in here once in a while, so for someone who doesn't eat a lot, the half size suits her perfectly, so she doesn't feel like she leaves anything to waste. Anyways, bread is great, staff is always helpful and attentive when building my sandwich. They keep the line moving, so it's never a wait. Works, Dino Dressed, Extra Vinegar, and some Pepperoncinis. Perfect. Low key, looks like a shop in New York or Jersey. No frills, just how I like it. I will always recommend Dino's as my favorite sandwich shop in DFW, even though I live in Dallas now. Always before a Rangers game for me. Don't sleep on the Meatball sub! Another winner!

Ask the Community - Dino's Subs

Do they serve lettuce wraps or bunless sandwiches here?

No, all the lettuce is pre shredded, but they make great salads!

Then as things were nearing completion, I remember seeing a couple of employees somewhere and asking about it, and they said that it would be in "phase two". Then sometime later, I remember a construction guy telling me, "there ain't no phase two, what you see with Texas Live is what you got, there isn't going to be any expansion". I could never find anything out. Then about six months or so, someone who works there told me it was being built in the corner, and would be open soon. I figured I'd believe it when I saw it, and now it's here. It's a nice space, with a separate entrance. Really went upscale more than you would see in most taprooms. I think only the Choctaw Lounge is nicer, and you can't hardly get into that place. The bar top is almost as long as the room, lots of stools. A good amount of pub type tables, and a larger community table, along with some low height chairs and tables. All pretty nice furniture. Couple of roll up doors open into the patio during nicer weather. My couple visits, I've seen several beers that I've never seen on tap anywhere else. Revolver is supposed to be doing several beers for this location only. Lot's of different beers, and this is probably the only place you'll see with this many of their beers on tap at any given time. I've done the brewery events in Granbury and they usually have maybe 6-8 beers on tap. I'm seeing 10-15 different beers on tap here. You can also get food in here, most of it items from Lockhart BBQ. But there are a couple things unique to the taproom, including the chili. The chili is pretty good, but the jalapeno cornbread is fantastic. Anyway, really nice, great place to hang out. Plenty of TV's and usually some decent music in the background. Prices are higher, which is expected because of the location, but I've paid about $7-$10 for different beers. Looking forward to more special beers. Too bad all the beer snobs hate Revolver, some good new stuff in here.

I was a little hesitant to enter the bar at first I won't lie because it seems almost unwelcoming but once you enter you feel right at home. The bartender immediately acknowledged us, grabbed a menu, and told us all of the specials. The list was extensive with all types of beers included, not just IPAs. I chose one of my favorite sour beers and my boyfriend chose a wit beer. We sat down at a table to listen to the live music. I normally hate live music in enclosed spaces(yes I am super old) but the sound was not so loud it interrupted conversation and the artist played great music. He took requests and really read the crowd's attitude. When I wanted a second beer, the bartender was extremely accommodating. He listened to the beers I tend to prefer, suggested beers, and let us try anything. That is key to a great craft beer bar. There was no entitlement or I am better than you attitude. They want you to enjoy and try while feeling like family. There is also a coffee shop in the bar which I would love to go back and try. The barista there said they are even talking about filling growlers! I am excited to become a regular here!
