We've been coming here as a family for a while, so trust me when I say the food is ALWAYS amazing--but when they catered my son's high school graduation party?? They did NOT come to play. The food? Soul-healing, plate-licking... They handled everything flawlessly, and the setup matched the restaurant's elegant vibe . It felt upscale, warm, and just... special. Our guests are STILL texting about the food and asking, "Wait... where was that from again?" So yes, it's a hidden gem ... but honestly, they deserve all the shine! Thank you!

The chef and his wife, who are also the owners, are so friendly, personable, and accommodating. We truly enjoyed their company just as much as we enjoyed spending time with each other. Throughout the planning process, Lionel was always quick in responding to questions and helpful in guiding me to a rental company for a beautiful dinner table set up of fine china, crystal glasses and sterling silverware. My husband and I are big foodies and have been to most of the top restaurants in Houston, Lionel's cooking was as good if not better than the best in town. Every course was absolutely delicious! The mussels were perfectly cooked, the caprese salad couldn't have been any better and everyone's filets were cooked spot on. He made a carrot purée that we have been talking about for days! On top of the amazing food, Lionel himself was as personable and friendly as he could be in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about the food he was serving. Each course came with an explanation of the ingredients and where they were from. I hope to have Lionel back in my home again soon and will be recommending him to everyone I know in the Houston area. Culinary Character: A Flavorful Adventure with Deja…read more I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Culinary Character, helmed by the talented Deja, for my little brother's bachelor party. From the very beginning, it was clear that this was going to be more than just a catering service; it was a culinary journey. Deja, with over 5 years of professional experience, brings a unique blend of gourmet fusion food that is not only inspired by various cultures but is also executed with simplicity and attractiveness. Before the event, we had a detailed discussion about our preferences, and I was impressed by the custom-made menu options that were tailored to accommodate the needs of our gathering. The service provided by Deja and her team was top-notch. They arrived at our AirBnB rental fully equipped with groceries and an infectiously positive attitude. The entire process, from meal preparation to serving, was handled with utmost professionalism and skill. Each meal - breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert - was a masterpiece. The dishes were packed with flavor, and the portions were generously sized. Deja's cooking ensures that you're not just satisfied, but pleasantly full. A fun fact indeed - you won't be left hungry after Deja's culinary creations! Post-meal, the team's efficiency continued to shine. They cleaned up impeccably and even took care of the trash, leaving our space as tidy as they found it. Their friendly demeanor and great attitudes made our experience, especially in our post-party hangover state, extremely pleasant and enjoyable. If you're on the lookout for exceptional culinary services, I can't recommend Deja and Culinary Character enough. It's not just about the food; it's about the experience, the flavors, and the memories you create. Book with Deja, and you're in for a treat that goes beyond the plate!

What a fantastic experience!…read more My little sister wanted to throw a cooking party for her 30th birthday; Chef B came highly recommended. All 16 of us gathered at my sister's in Willis late afternoon for a toast and to hang out before the anticipated start time of 5pm. Chef B and Jackie arrived a little after 4 and seamlessly began preparing while guests mingled. (I'm not even certain when they arrived since they just blended in.) They brought an app for us to snack on: baby lobster rolls, mmm. When it was go time, Chef B and Jackie allowed us to pair up at multiple different "stations" around the kitchen/dining area. The guys crowded around the meat table to form "Team Meat" and the rest of us paired up at the various stations where we were walked through each step of preparation. My older sister and I were at the prosciutto-wrapped green bean station, arguably the most "difficult" one. Really, all we had to do was grab a small handful of green beans and wrap them - along with some grilled scallions - with a piece of prosciutto. However, since we'd had open season on Prosecco and sangria for over an hour, this was harder for her than I thought, ha. But it sure was fun! Very social. Food prep at all the stations took half hour tops (half that time at most). The meat had already been brined, herbs chopped, etc. so assembly was simple. Other than the food (I'll get to that) my favorite part was realizing how easy it all was. We got a little booklet at the end with all the recipes; there were very few ingredients and none were complicated. The Chefs managed the majority of the cooking (or supervised the parts we wanted to do, i.e. the guys at the grill) About an hour or so later we were presented with a smorgasboard: bruchetta salad, cremini mushrooms, bourbon bacon pork tenderloin, roasted root veggies, butternut squash with honey, our green beans...I can't even remember it all. But every, single. thing. tasted great! Everyone was so proud of the dish they took part in, it was cute. The best part: the chefs cleaned everything up afterwards! All my sister provided was a kitchen and some dishes to eat off of, everything else was covered, start to finish. All of this for $45 a person. Absolutely unreal. Could not possible recommend more. I'm hoping I can get Chef B and Jackie to come to Austin!!

We actually had several communications before the event, to fine tune the menu and outline the progression of the evening. Chef Will was very punctual and came in ready to get started. At our request, he made himself at home in our kitchen. He used some of our cookware, kitchen utensils and our grill, and he was very respectful of our home/property. I had the pleasure of visiting with him while he prepared the dinner. Such a delightful guy, and very impressive with his love of quality food and just the Houston food scene in general. The evening was about 2 hours once we started eating. The food was awesome. The food was very flavorful and the presentation was top notch. As we ate, he continued with the preparation/plating of the next dish on the menu and cleaned-up as he went. When he left, other than some plated leftovers, there was no evidence he had been here. He even took out the trash! What a great guy, and a great treat for us and our guests! I enjoyed this evening so much. I hope to attend some of his cooking classes as well. He said: "How do you suggest that I recoup the money I would have made from the other people I turned away for the date you placed a deposit on? You cancelled. You could've accepted a delivery on the date you requested and either improvised or eaten it later." - I told him he didn't give me any options such as delivery and never responded to my emails until much later on. He then tells me "I spent the last 2-3 days trying to book your cancellation with a couple of people I had turned away due to your booking. I had no luck." - Because you can't find any additional clients you won't refund me. Great business model. "As a professional courtesy I can offer you a discount on a future booking or a 25% refund. I didn't want to just take them out to dinner -- I wanted them to feel celebrated, appreciated, and completely pampered at home. Chef Kane with Taste of the Sophisticated (TOTS) brought that vision to life with elegance and soul. From the moment she arrived, Chef Kane was completely locked in. You could see the passion in her eyes and the confidence in every step she took in our kitchen. She worked with a quiet intensity and grace, and watching her create was like watching an artist in her element. Every dish that came out was more than food -- it was a moment. The evening started with Truffle Macaroni Bites, perfectly crisp and paired with roasted tomato-garlic coulis and truffle aioli -- a rich and flavorful opener. The French Onion Soup, topped with golden gruyère and comté over toasted brioche croutons, was the best I've ever had -- bold, warming, and luxurious. Then came the Chicken Velouté, a velvety, refined dish with crème fraîche, fresh tarragon, and smoked sea salt. The Truffle Caesar Salad was a sophisticated take on a classic -- pancetta and parmesan crisps added the perfect punch. The main courses were stunning: Baked Salmon with citrus beurre blanc, roasted heirloom carrots, and fingerling potatoes -- light, bright, and beautifully balanced. Spinach-Stuffed Chicken in white wine garlic sauce with truffle mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms -- rich, earthy, and comforting. And the crown jewel: an 8 oz Filet Mignon, flawlessly cooked, served with creamy truffle butter, roasted Brussels sprouts, and silky mashed potatoes. Dessert was a celebration in itself: A Molten Lava Cake made with Valrhona dark chocolate and topped with 24K gold leaf -- decadent and unforgettable. And a delicate Madagascar Vanilla Bean Cupcake with strawberry coulis -- light, fragrant, and a perfect final note. What struck me most was not just the exceptional food -- it was how Chef Kane made every woman at that table feel seen and celebrated. Her presence, care, and artistry elevated the night far beyond any restaurant or typical catering experience. If you're looking to turn a meaningful occasion into a luxurious and heartfelt experience, Chef Kane and TOTS are who you need. I can't thank her enough for making this Mother's Day unforgettable.
