We were passing through during lunchtime & decided to stop. My husband had a cheeseburger & really liked it. He ate the salad that came with my steak fingers & liked the little bits of broccoli & cauliflower in it. Steak fingers were crispy on the outside & tender on the inside. The baked potato & corn were piping hot. This is a small town gathering place, for sure. We're glad that we stopped here. We were passing through on our way back home and really needed some home cooked comfort food. I came across this place and saw the reviews and decided to take a chance on it. I'm so happy I did! We got hamburger steak, fried pickles, a cheeseburger and chicken tenders. The hamburger steak was so juicy, fried pickles were so perfect! My husband loved the mushroom and Swiss burger. If there's such a thing as a latergram, there should be a later Yelp, too. I stopped here with my mom on a trip across the country. We hadn't eaten in too long, and we stopped in 2 minutes before closing. They opened the door for us, the only 2 customers, and said they would be happy to serve us. The food was hot and delicious, and I wish I could remember the server's name who was so kind to seat us and make sure we were fed. It was 2017, so a lot might have changed, but I found the photo I took and had to let everyone else know: this restaurant holds a special place in my heart. We were heading back from Colorado and noticed this restaurant down the road. After reading the reviews, decided to stop in for some home style cooking. The staff were friendly and fast. The restaurant is old school and clean. The food was surprisingly good. Everything is handmade and the dinner rolls are delish... The owner is the cook. Will stop in next trip to Colorado. He had fried catfish, fried okra and green beans and I had the chicken strips, mashed potatoes and green beans and we both had a dinner salad. We loved all of it!! I was so skeptical before trying this place, but my pregnancy hormones were demanding steak, and that wouldn't be a possibility once I reached my final destination so I decided to go ahead and give the Dinner Bell a chance. I will admit I wasn't expecting much, but man was I pleasantly surprised. The steak was one of the best I have had in a very long time, the baked potato was perfect, and the green beans were fantastic. Such a great find. Raised in Muleshoe, I had slim pickins on what the 'Shoe had to offer. It was either Leal's, Town&Country burgers, DQ or the Dinner Bell. When the line at Leal's was too long, we'd often opt for the Dinner Bell. It's a little run-down and hokey, but that's the way it's supposed to be. The offer a weekday buffet that has your usual homecooked food, and everything on it is pretty alright. Their menu is the same -- chicken fried steak, burgers, the works. A decent place to dine if you're driving through, but nothing special. I've had both great and bad experiences over the years so it get a middle-of-the-road rating. read more

The last time we ate at the Dinner Bell, it took an hour to receive our food (one quesadilla I should say) and when it got to me, it was cold and the cheese was not melted. The buffet was also cold. I say no to this restaurant. read more

It's not the best, but it's not the worst in Muleshoe. Breakfast is good, large portions. Lunch buffet is a it or miss, salad bar could really use some improvements. Most menu items are pretty bland. With a little effort, this restaurant could be really good. read more

Stopped in at lunch on way to Clovis. Had the 'buffet'. Selections on buffet were not readily available. Very small amounts of the buffet items were slowly replenished. I missed out on their chicken fried steak due to I was fourth in line to make my plate. Almost missed out on mashed potatoes. Luckily, one of the kitchen staff brought out at least 5 small servings a few minutes before we were about to leave... but if you like cornbread and gravy, the supply seemed endless. Definitely a worthy stop! Some of their tasty homemade choices included chili, rolls, and homemade tartar sauce as well as Cole slaw from their salad bar. We enjoyed their sirloin steak special and the seafood buffet, especially the fried catfish. They were especially accommodating in modifying one of their menu items for someone in our party with special dietary needs. We'll be back! read more

We were travelling through & stopped for a take-out steak dinner. It took us about 20 minutes to get to our destination to eat. The baked potatoes had butter already in them which did not melt on the way to our destination. A steak house should serve good baked potatoes. The baked potatoes looked like they were a couple of days old at least & were not edible. The steak had a good flavor. The veggies were covered in garlic seasoning. The salad bar was good. My GF and I stopped by there Monday 8/15/2011 around 6ish, we were the only customers at the time, I had the CF Steak and she had the fried catfish (which I helped her with 1/2 of it, there was like 7 - 8 good size pieces of fish). Both meals were very tasty, and the tarter sauce was home made and had sweet instead of dill relish and was REALLY good. I may be moving to that area very soon and if so this will be at least a weakly visit. read more
