I ordered the Oolong Milk Tea with crystal boba, no sugar, and less ice. I'm glad I went with zero sugar in the milk tea because the crystal boba is already quite sweet. We ordered it to-go and didn't have to wait long, which was nice. However, even with no added sugar, the drink was still a bit too sweet for my taste. I ended up adding more non-sweet tea at home to balance it out. Overall, a decent experience, but if you're sensitive to sweetness, you might want to adjust your order accordingly. read more

Stopped by here while waiting for some food from Sam Woo. It's a small space, but it's clean and has nice decor. Staff was friendly. I got the passion fruit black tea with lychee jelly at 70% sweet. So happy this place finally opened in the valley! We really need great boba chains like this one out here. I didn't get to try it till this spot opened because they're all so far but I always heard crazy good reviews about it! Unfortunately the parking lot here is awful. The lines can barely be seen anymore so people just park however they want. We walked in and were second in line which gave us time to look at the menu. The music inside is blasting but it was good music! The sign on the wall is lovely and makes the place look really fancy. I ordered the iced Coffee Milk Tea with extra golden boba. I love my extra boba and even if I haven't tried this place out, I was confident! I even went for a large. I loved every bit of it! I wish the large cups were as cute as the small, rounded bottom ones but that's ok! Next time I'll get it simply for the photos. The quality of their drink and boba are great! This spot is nestled in between Pho So 1 (good Pho!) and 99 Ranch. You can basically have dinner at Pho So 1, grab a milk tea after and walk it off while you do your grocery shopping at the 99 Ranch market. It's a small spot, not a hangout place. It's a chain milk tea spot but still boasts great quality ingredients and a variety of flavors across all drink categories (milk tea, fruit teas..etc.). You are not going to find a better place for Taiwanese boba milk tea, especially if you are in the Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks or Encino area. Besides milk tea, they also offer slushes and yogurt drinks. You can do some serious customization of your sugar level and ice level. Of course, there's a decent variety of toppings too. My favorite is their Signature Milk Tea - normal sugar level with half ice. But...if you're adventurous, try the passion fruit black tea, with the golden boba, lychee jelly and aloe vera. Was super excited for Ding Tea to come to the Valley. Sad to say I was disappointed in the drink size and quality of the boba; regular cups seem tiny and with ice it was half ice; I finished the drink in less than a minute. Boba was chewy but firm, not soft (QQ in chinese). Milk tea w boba- 3/5 since boba was disappointing, milk tea was good but since it was half ice, I feel like I barely had any Taro with egg pudding- good, definitely powder, didn't taste any taro bits. Egg pudding was a good texture Green tea yakult with grass jelly- tasty, grass jelly had good consistency I got the boba on opening day, so maybe due to being busy the quality decreased; I'll try again and hope that the boba is softer. Tip: ask for like less ice, as little as possible as their cups are tiny. read more

Hear me out, I saw Ding Tea back in NorCal but never got to try it, so when I went for my weekly Ranch99 run I had to try this place out. Conveniently located in an Asian plaza with plentiful parking (though small and sometimes full), this marks a perfect place to get some mediocre boba as a reward after a shopping trip. Decor was super nice! I ordered a Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea and Jasmin Green Milk Tea. The Hokkaido Oolong, though not marked as a top choice by the store, is actually their best drink IMO. It at a rich and creamy taste you'd expect of hokkaido milk tea with a splash of oolong in every sip. Super yummy! It was a tad too sweet for my liking, but overall well balanced when given with boba pearls. I would 100% recommend this drink if you visit! I would order it it again with a lower sweetness level and not with boba (more below). The Jasmin Green Tea, which was a "safe" order, totally missed the spot on a basic milk tea drink. I mean, you just steep the tea and and milk and sugar to sweeten right? The drink I received was super watered down, you could barely taste the Jasmine. I had to really try to taste a slight Jasmine, which was overpowered by the mundane taste of water. While I found it hard to mess up a Jasmine MT, I guess this place isn't it. When I ordered less ice (30%), I was given more of almost a full ice serving, probably due to the worker not making enough drink and instead adding ice to top it off. It could be a one off bad experience/drink, but there are better things on the menu. When I ordered boba with my drinks, both turned out to be named as "Golden Boba". I then saw the menu and they looked like golden agar pearls. Although the boba was very chewy, it lacked any sort of taste. I also wouldn't expect a brown sugar boba experience, I think their Golden Boba is more of a bouncy agar pearl with more chewiness. Not the best boba pearl experience, so I would either order a different topping or exclude toppings altogether (the party in front of me also ordered their drinks w/o boba). Overall, a very mediocre boba place. It's a basic boba shop paired with basic drink combinations. Their boba pearls weren't to my taste, and honestly tasted more like bouncy agar pearls rather than tapioca starch boba. read more

So happy to finally see an authentic boba place opened next to 99 ranch market. Store is cute and clean and employees were very nice as well. They have a lot of options to choose from so it took me a while to think about what I wanted to try. I ended up getting the iced monster boba latte (fyi they can't make it less ice due to how it was made but I didn't feel like it was too much ice anyway). I didn't have high expectations at first, thinking it's probably another brown sugar milk tea kind of drink. But it really surprised me (in a good way!). The cheese foam on top is very creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. It mixed so well with the fresh milk and brown sugar syrup? I think sitting at bottom. I was deeply regretting not getting a large size. The only thing that I didn't like was there were too many boba sitting at the bottom. I will get light boba next time for sure. Quick quality boba tea. I guess it's the new normal with boba drinks at the $5-6 price point now. Even the low end chains that use powders for flavors are at this price so if we have to spend this much might as well go to higher end chains like Ding Tea. This place keeps the menu simple with what seems like real mix ins. We got our usuals coffee milk tea and taro milk tea with boba, all less sweet. Boba was fresh and springy. They do have milk tea and regular tea based drinks but they don't have coffee based (no milk) with cheese foam. Perhaps they are trying to stay close to the menu of their Taiwan HQ. Finally they placed a boba shop in this plaza!! Nestled in between 99 Ranch Market and Pho So 1 (one of my favorite pho places) is Ding Tea. Ding Tea is probably one of my favorite boba shops and am glad that they are rapidly expanding. I happened to be in the area a little before 11am and waited for the store to open. Right when the opened, I was pleasantly surprised that they already had their boba made. My experience with boba shops is that once it opens, the boba isn't ready. However, this wasn't the case here! I was able to order my favorite drink - Boba Milk Tea with 30% sugar and light ice. What I like about Ding tea is that drink comes in two sizes - Regular and Large. Another boba shop in the valley has popped up and it's a popular one that I've already been here three times since their grand opening back in late August. So far I've has their passion fruit green tea and lychee green tea. The first time the lychee green tea it was really good and refreshing, but the second time I ordered the same drink and tasted a little bit off. Like the water wasn't filtered and came from the tap. Passion fruit green tea was good my 3rd time here albeit a tad too sweet even with 70% sweetness. I like that there menu is simple and not overwhelming like other boba shops with pages and pages of drinks. Also, that you can adjust the sweetness and ice level to your liking. The shop is nestled between 99 Ranch Market and Pho So 1. Some stool seating against the walls and windows but not really a hang out spot. Ding Tea being an international chain should bring some uniqueness and international flair that domestic shops may not have. First time trying Ding Tea today and overall, it's just another tea shop. There were three workers when I walked in around noon, all of whom acknowledged me and greeted me which was nice! I ordered the matcha milk tea with boba, half sugar and slight ice. I don't see many boba shops offering that so it was nice to have such wide options and they actually did follow the instructions! A minute or two after ordering and my drink was ready.
