I stopped by this tea place to get my wife a drink since I was already in the plaza this store is in for a Yelp event next door. The flavor combination of the fresh ube mixture at the bottom of the cup along with the ube cream on top + the matcha is SOOOO FREAKIN BOMB. I've been twice to this spot in the valley. The spot is in a small parking plaza with ample parking. Overall, BLTea is more of a social spot versus a working spot, but we were able to chill there for a few hours on our laptops. The first visit, I tried their mango coconut drink (actually not sure if they still have it) and an Oreo cookie (not pictured). Both items were solid! During this second visit I tried the banana cream matcha with oat milk and the cream cheese Oreo milk tea. Drinks are solid, and I'm particularly impressed with the matcha. Matcha lovers know boba-centered spots don't particularly have the best matcha, as their focus is on overall drinks. But the matcha here is earthy, not bitter, and meshes well with the fun toppings. Don't expect the best matcha of your life or expect a matcha like those in Koreatown, but it's solid. This second visit, I believe we snagged the only outlet behind the plants and non-working self-service kiosk, so keep that in mind. This was, without question, one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. The cashier asked me to repeat my order four different times, moved incredibly slowly, and spoke so quietly that it was nearly impossible to hear her, even though I was speaking loudly and clearly. After ordering, I waited over 20 minutes for my drink and mochi. There was no announcement or indication that my order was ready. It turns out it had been sitting in a corner that isn't even visible from the customer waiting area. If I hadn't gone looking, I probably would have waited even longer. To make matters worse, the mochi was unbelievably small, especially considering it cost nearly $14. The portion was nowhere close to what the price would lead you to expect. Overall, the service throughout my visit was extremely poor, and the experience left a very negative impression. If you're looking for a new drink spot in the San Fernando Valley, BLTea is absolutely worth a try. Their menu is incredibly diverse and often shifts with the seasons. Unless you're ordering one of their staple beverages, don't get too attached to your drink of choice, as it may be gone sooner than you think! The Mango Sticky Rice is my personal favorite, but it's only around for the spring and summer. Get it while you can! Many boba shops in the San Fernando Valley adopt a function-over-form mindset, and aren't any fun to sit in. Even though BLTea is located in a smaller unit compared to its neighbors, they've really nailed the aesthetics and maximized their seating for their customers. It's a comfortable spot to relax in. My only point of contention is their service. I have found that interacting with some of their staff has been... difficult. When I am the sole member of my party, a few of their all-female front-of-house are quite curt and unwelcoming. However, when I'm with my female friends, they get treated with absolute kindness and professionalism (even during the same order). I really enjoy coming to BLTea for their drinks, but I often leave with a sour taste in my mouth because of this seemingly discriminate behavior. This is simply a personal experience I thought worth sharing for my fellow men, and does not apply to all of their staff. Truly a tough three star to give, as it has absolutely nothing to do with their excellent product. I am so disappointed in this place and the issues started as soon as I walked up to the cashier. I was second in line and there was no greeting from the Hispanic girl taking orders. She had a serious attitude with all three of us in line and I definitely noticed. I really don't know how a place like this hired her. She mumbled things after I placed my order and just stood there leaning to one side without even caring about providing even decent customer service. At lest the other girl working (Asian girl making drinks) was kind enough to say "have a nice day" with a smile as I got my order It took 15 minutes for my drink since it seemed like NOTHING was prepped. The two girls kept throwing and banging things while running back and forth from the main prep area to the two back rooms. Now for the let down on my order. I asked for the Banana Pudding matcha Latte with light ice. The ice request was followed which I appreciate. But the matcha was not mixed well and tasted super watery. As for the "banana pudding" aspect, it doesn't make much sense. There's hardly any banana flavor except for a small dime size piece of banana mixed in. The rest was just whipped cream with crushed nilla wafer cookies. And the lid isn't really ideal because the opening is so wide that you can't drink it like a normal lid. I wasn't given a straw but there was a spoon in my drink (which I thought was a straw until I got to my car) and I just have to wonder who is scooping out whipped cream to eat from this drink? You go anywhere else with some sort of cream/foam top and you're supposed to let the topping mix with the drink as you take sips. Eating whipped cream doesn't really make sense. As for the ube basque cheesecake, it was definitely over baked and had a decent cheesecake flavor but hardly ube flavor. The color is gorgeous but it's not worth it. $16 for this pairing just thrown out. read more

I was on the hunt for a quick bite and coffee. I came across this little gem. I originally wanted something savory but upon entering I noticed they had a Dubai mochi cookie. I ordered that and a Vietnamese coffee. They were both delicious and I returned 4 times within 2 weeks to grab the Dubai mochi cookie. The service was fast and friendly. Today, we tried the iced sesame fresh milk and the iced tiramisu coffee latte. The drinks came out super fast, which we appreciated. The boba itself was completely stale and hard on the inside, which usually means it's been sitting out for way too long. Worse than the texture was the flavor.
