I have lived at York mills and yonge for 40 years and been rescuing parrots and taking them every summer to Bayview and Yorkmills for decades.
Plus Yorkville Sassafraz, Brickwork, Aromas,and other out door cafe's where I am admired and greeted with respect as we spend appropriately 45 mins and we order 3 items to eat and 2 drinks.
When second cup left and Dineen was being built or almost open, I visited the cafe and asked to speak with the manager.
I told him about my visits in the summer and I use hospital grade sanitizer before and after my visits. This is to protect my birds and clean up after them. He nodded approval.
This summer, I have been there over 6 times with other friends.
I also have a doctor's note for the other customers query. Now this is for inside, hotels, airplanes ect. Not outside.
I try never to take my birds inside unless the customers approve since people have phobias.
Today, after we ordered and began our breakfast. An mature dark head woman came over with an ordering voice to remove the parrots off the chairs because they are for customers. There were two of us and 2 chairs .
She immediately moved the chair i was sitting on. I was left with my croissant in my hand and while my assistant was feeding the birds, the lady was moving her chair.
I tried to reason with her about my doctors note and spoke to the manager years prior and visit regularly, which she brushed aside, saying " Well, I am the owner " and the birds are not allowed. This is in a strip mall, she doesn't own the walk way in front of the cafe ??? Does she ?
I am a senior who suffered this debilitating abuse which I reacted poorly from being not only feeling being picked on because of my race, age and mental challenges about going out in public. She didn't even care about my loyal weekly visits, age, race....
JUST MEAN AND NASTY was not necessary in front of a crowd. The parrots always bring a crowd. I am extremely traumatized and don't know how to move on read more
