Overall a nice/comfortable place to rent but potential to be so much nicer. I rented here for 7 years in a couple different units, so I can give a pretty balanced/accurate assessment of the place. Pros: clean/modern units with good (but not luxurious) finishes, great views (from some units and roof top), feels solidly built (concrete pillars visible, mostly good sound insulation), nice gym, really nice 360 degree roof top deck, good initial value with move-in specials (before inevitable rent increase) Cons: excessive rent escalation, weak security, extremely tightly packed parking garage. poor communication from maintenance crew, poorly responsive/disorganized and at the same time unreasonably inflexible management. When I first moved in l, I occupied a lower floor unit for a somewhat reasonable $1800/mo. Because of excessive noise from the trash compactor activating at night, I eventually moved to a higher floor with a pretty nice view of Elliot Bay for about $2100/mo. After 7 years my rent was $3400 (and rising) even though the advertised rent for an equivalent unit on a higher floor was $1000+ less (even before move-in concessions). At various points I tried to negotiate some compromise on price to make it more fair. I wasn't asking for a full price reduction. I then asked for waiving parking/storage unit fees (~$50/250) for even 6 months. No budging at all. During Covid when many people weren't paying rent, I tried again to make my rent at least somewhat closer to advertised rent again asking for minor concessions. No budging at all, even after being a good tenant on autopay for 4+ years, there was no recognition for my loyalty. I stayed for 3 more years because I hate moving, I could afford it, and was unsure of my future plans. At one point when I was pretty serious about buying a place I switched to month to month for $3800/mo at the end of my lease. This was around the time that interest rates suddenly jumped and it seemed like the housing market was going to crash. I quickly realized I wouldn't be ready to buy a place for at least a few months. Within literally a few days of signing the month to month, I asked to switch to a 6 month lease at the lower rate. I was then told that I would be locked in at the higher rate for 5 months. This was when I realized I either needed to move to a different apartment or buy a place on my own terms. At around the same time, two of the three elevators were out of service for the second time of several months (6 mo?) at a time as well as the garage door broken for the umpteenth time also for months at a time. There was no reduction in rent due to these major inconveniences. As a result of the garage door being open for several months, several times, both my car and my storage unit were broken into. Personal insurance only partially covered those losses. Again no concessions for these losses were offered. Maintenance teams overall were good at fixing things. Emergencies (plumbing leaks) were responded to quickly. There is even an on-site maintenance person who lives in the building. However when putting in a semi-urgent but non-emergent maintenance issue, no updates/communication was made for up to a week. Thus I would waste all day waiting for maintenance to show up. The garage is super tight getting in and out of, with not enough room for cars to pass through both ways at the same time. Some of the parking spaces are super tight. Others are very wide. For some reason, priority is not necessarily given to bigger cars. To sum up. Nice place to live but a lot of negatives to deal with. And expect to pay a lot more if you stay longer than a couple years. read more

We were told that management provides secure parking and that's the main reason we chose Dimension. The parking garage gate has not been working for months and has remained open for the past few months. We raised concerns about seeing a homeless wandering in the parking garage, and now my girlfriend's car got stolen a few days ago. They do not care about your security so please look elsewhere. Been here for over a year and I love it! I moved in during the pandemic, and the building was very responsive to the changing phases and COVID protocols, and communication was very frequent through emails and signs around the building. I've also noticed an increased effort in cleaning in the common space areas. The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and the handful of times I needed maintenance, they always came promptly. The apartment and amenities itself are pretty good. The gym, though smaller than expected, has high quality equipment like Peloton bikes. The roof has THE BEST 360 degree view I've seen from any building in the area. It's walking distance to EVERYTHING, and there's a convenient bus stop right outside. The Belltown location does come with some crazies outside, and living in a unit that faces 3rd, I have witnessed some police activity. Nonetheless, I think the management has done the best they can (pressure washing the sidewalk, hiring 24 hr security, etc). read more

I've grown pretty frustrated with this place over the past year, especially during COVID19. Pros: Apartments are pretty nice, not luxury but nicer than everything else in the area I found for the price. Roof is great. Location is good if you like being able to walk to places or want a short commute to work downtown. The front desk people are usually nice and helpful. Groundskeepers/maintenance are friendly and helpful too. Cons: Where do I start. First, I'm still pissed that my locker go broken into and $600 worth of stuff was stolen in my storage room where only a few other tenants and apartment employees have access. The most likely scenario was that the contractors that were hired to install security equipment broke in because they knew the room wasn't being watched. The apartment admitted they left them down there by themselves. So you know no one is watching and you have the tools to break a lock? Sounds like a situation that someone might take advantage of. It certainly makes more sense than one of the other 5 or so tenants stealing things that could easily be identified if they carried them around the building and in areas that already had security cameras. Second, while I like the apartment rooms, one of my sliding doors keeps breaking and getting stuck, and the stove and fridge are smaller than normal which can get annoying after awhile. Also, there is no AC in this building and the windows are not good for blowing air in and getting a breeze. I will acknowledge that the maintenance staff will help make a custom window attachment so you can hook up a portable AC unit you have bought. Regarding the roof. Awesome area that I used to host parties at because it only cost $50 for 5 hours for the club house. Well since people complained that the room was booked too often and probably because they don't like planning ahead, the management raised the fee to $150. This isn't for a deposit like many other apartments do, it is a fee. Not worth $150 to rent for a night. Communication is not great here either. On multiple occasions I've gotten last minute calls asking me to move my car so they can work on the AC unit. One time was at 8am, an hour before the crew arrived. Every single time I've had to ask where I should park. The other day they emailed us warning the power might go out that day. Sometimes I don't get the feeling they prioritize their tenants. Now regarding COVID. The moment management could, they shut everything down: roof, gym, lobbies, etc. Closing the gym makes since due to the law. Closing the outdoor area on the roof and the lobby common area doesn't as long as people social distance. One time I was on the roof and it had not been clear that it had been closed and some of the maintenance guys came up and were side eyeing me for sitting up there. They proceeded to also eat and hang out up there. Two days later an email went out and more signs were posted reminding people that it was closed. I guess rules are only for tenants... Now here is my biggest gripe of late that has pushed me to write a review. No one works the front desk anymore. What this means is that peope delivering packages have a hard time getting in and sometimes can not put their mail in the lockers. So often you will see packages laying around everywhere in the lobby, meaning anyone can come and steal your stuff. When my storage locker was broken into, the management said it wasn't up to them to keep anything secure (literally what they said). So by that logic, you can damn well guess they won't take any ownership if delivery people (who cannot get to the storage lockers) just leave packages laying out even though the reason they cannot delivery your packages adequately is 100% the fault of management. Also, tenants are asked to not let anyone in when walking into the building, so once again, how are people supposed to deliver packages? The other big issue is the safety outside of the building. We have plenty of homeless and drug addicts hanging out around the building. I also frequently see people yelling outside. In the past, people working the front desk would ask people to leave (I've seen it happen). Now, nothing is done about it. While I understand the homeless have to have somewhere to go, my wife and I worry that we could easily get harassed trying to enter and leave the building. That isn't something we should have to deal with. So my point is, management needs to stop being cheap and put people at the front desk again. Built into our rent is money that goes to pay for the upkeep and security of our building. At this point part of my monthly rent is paying for a service that I am not getting. I would give this place a 3 star review. But after 2 and half months of management not doing anything around here, I'm just fed up. read more

Moreover, Alicia was super helpful in guiding me on my many questions and reminded me of the facilities I had to make moving easier (cart, docks). I am a bit surprised by the negative reviews relating to this building, as well as staff. The entire staff is nothing short of amazing, I've been impressed. Leasing agents & management is very courteous, attentive, and professional to residents. The maintenance staff is also top notch, have never experienced anything better. The building itself is unlike many others. I challenge you to find a better rooftop view in the area. Sure, some buildings are taller, but this building has no obstruction at all! Watching fireworks here is spectacular. The apartments are also reasonably priced for the area, offer lots of natural light and are pretty well built. I really do like the integrated refrigerator & stove :). But, there is something to say about location, location, location... There is nothing that the management can do, but beware of the youth homeless shelter across the street. Those kids constantly hang out at the paid parking lot across the street, often there are fights, ambulances & police are often called. They always leave the parking lot trashed, pretty nasty to see sometimes. If you walk across the street when they are out, you are bound to see at least one group of them doing drugs. Sometimes that spills over to our side of the street too, like some kid phantom punching the air in front of the door? Another homeless kid getting naked and changing right by the building and leaving all of his trash there? Or a knife wielding kid that starts stabbing a light post outside of the building... Or another one that constantly yells profanity at people passing by. There are a few others too. In all honesty though, Dimension staff goes above and beyond to try and manage these sort of things, they are on top of it when they can be. Unfortunately, you can only do so much. All in all, if you are looking for a place in Belltown, consider Dimension. You'd be really surprised by the kind staff, very well maintained building and overall spectacular views. It was good, when I moved in 2017. But the main pain point got much more significant in 2020. They only have 3 elevators and very unreliable. Most of the time there is always one elevator out of service. And they keep allowing people reserving one of the two remaining elevators for very long time. That means one elevator serving 26 stories of people, what a mess! Now considering they request "2 people in elevator at most", how is that possible? Even getting delivered food is such a painful experience! The garage is also a mess, very tiny lots, a few crimes happened inside. They ask us to use the garage opener when going out, and that even broke down once. No central AC is also a big problem in summer, we have to use portable AC which creates lot of noise. In winter the heat design also has major flaw. It cannot deliver heat to the whole room, just keep the close range burning hot, which is very uncomfortable. I'm very disappointed so I decided to move out. read more

We have lived here for about 3 months now and have been very pleased with the amenities, staff, and location. The rooftop view is amazing (and the main reason we chose to live at Dimension). You get 360 degree views of downtown, the Sound, and The Space Needle/Lake Union. You cannot hear your neighbors at all. I love it! I could hear footsteps, dogs, doors slamming, etc. all day long at my last apartment and it drove me nuts. Of course there is city noise below, it's the CITY! People who give Dimension a low rating because of noise or the youth shelter across the street (or the lack of single use coffee cups) are just looking for a reason to complain. I have never felt unsafe because of the shelter. In fact, the security guard that works outside the shelter makes everyone feel welcome in the neighborhood with his morning greetings to everyone on the street. They are very pet friendly, the lobby has a pool table, a TV, and tons of space (plus FREE coffee!) The gym has two Peleton bikes, which I am now obsessed with! We are happy we found our home in Belltown! read more

Downtown is changing a lot. Some of the growth has slowed and current rental development projects budgets are being scaled back daily. Dimension was built by a crazy startup that at the time had no real limits - the choice of materials from the cork tile floors to the higher tier appliances really set this property apart from many of the other cheap / pop-up rental boom properties in downtown / Belltown. This still remains as a differentiator in my view. The city views are great and the entry streets (Cedar / Vine) are cozy and easy when you bring your motorcar out to play. The new management staff has had some time to adjust the infrastructure the original owners left behind and everything has been modernized yet still maintaining the original construction and design choices. I moved here on my own from Las Vegas in February 2016. I would recommend this building to anyone. The staff is INCREDIBLE. They have been friendly, helpful and incredibly professional during each step of my journey here in Seattle. The lobby and gym were under construction for a good portion of my time here, but the staff kept us informed and updated through email and through their tenant social media portal the entire time. The remodel turned out beautifully, so any new tenants get to reap the benefits! They also have a new package concierge system that is very convenient, modern and easy to use. The only downside I experienced was that the Rite Aid next door can feel a bit sketchy at times and the parking spots are pretty tight. Also, the rent is high, but my high corner apartment with a view of the Puget Sound and the Space Needle made it absolutely worth it for me. Tip: Ask about renting an A/C window unit during the summer months. It saved my (and my cats') lives during that time. They host events on the rooftop often and put calendars in the elevators each month with local events and building get-togethers. The staff was there when you reached out to them but they never felt intrusive or nosy. Speaking of privacy, the concrete ceilings and thick walls made it so that I've never heard my neighbors. They make laundry easy by having a washer and dryer in the apartment itself, and there are trash chutes on every floor. I'm moving out at the end of my lease, but only because I'm settling down in the suburbs. Even during my 'break up' conversation with the staff - "It's not you, it's me! We can still be friends, right?" - they were sweet and even helped me by giving me advice about my new area and offered some names of (unaffiliated) places to live. Used to be okay, but now I don't recommend living here. The immediate area around the building has become far less safe than it was before. People get in fights frequently across the street, causing lots of police activity late at night. People frequently sleep next to the building (okay, I get it) or violently shouting at you as you run to Rite Aid (not okay). To top it off, since quarantine started, Dimenson seemingly gave up on security all together; their security person is no longer around at all. Add to that, apartments have a ridiculously small fridge, front staff that don't seem care about the security of your belongings (see other reviews here), it now costs $150 to rent the roof (not a deposit, a *cost*), and your Amazon delivery driver will likely be stranded outside for a while because Dimension doesn't have any front staff to let him/her in (their callbox only works half the time, at best). So yeah, look elsewhere. You can do better. read more

It didn't just go missing, but that is easy for you to say, since it didn't happen to you. Great apartment! I Just moved from Seattle to Boston. I have been living in three different apartments around downtown Seattle in the past few years. Dimension was the one I love best, I would like to give a five star and recommend Dimension to anyone. First of all, managers are all nice and helpful people. Nice location, great building, and common areas, and the rooftop is the best. It has 360-degree views of downtown Seattle, Space Needle, Elliott Bay, Bainbridge Island and more. It has one of the best viewing spots for Seattle new year firework. Dimension has 24-hour package room, super convenience, I can pick up package anytime. The garage is great, my parking spot is large. The building is always clean, garage cleaning once or twice a year. Holland Residential Company is a great company with many great apartments in Seattle. TrueNorth is also a great apartment at south lake union under Holland Residential Company. read more

Management via leasing agents. Garage door has been broken for months, cars pilfered - at least one stolen. Elevators are constantly under repair. Of the 3, one has been down for months with no horizon for bringing it on line. Of the remaining 2, generally one is constantly down. Short Version: Thousands of past and current Dimension resident SSNs and identities stolen including my own due to gross negligence by Dimension property management (Holland Residential). *Positives* Great Belltown location with amazing views! Bus stop with Rapid Ride D to downtown and Ballard on same block I never heard my neighbors, great sound insulation in a concrete building Very nice and secure bike room and good parking (if a little tight) The finishes in the building are fantastic. They feel like condo finishes. *Negatives* No air conditioning which can be annoying especially for south facing units My identity was stolen due to gross negligence by property management (!) **Full Review and Rant** I was one of the first residents who moved into Dimension in October of 2014. At the time the property was managed by Indigo. The Indigo staff were awesome, especially Jordan and Christina! They and the maintenance staff really cared about the building and the residents. I really liked the building even though it was a bit expensive. In September of 2015 the building was sold to another owner who decided to remove Indigo and bring in Holland to manage the building. This changeover was quite abrupt and there was disarray for a few weeks. I left Dimension in November of 2015 to move to a cheaper building and had a pleasant move out experience. The cleaning fee was very reasonable and it was easy to schedule the loading dock for the move in truck. More than a year later in early December of 2016 I became aware that my identity had been stolen and several credit accounts were fraudulently opened with my information. I have spent many hours trying to clean this up and secure my information. For those who haven't had their identity stolen, know that it's very frustrating and stressful to know someone is impersonating you and you're forced to clean it up. If you were hoping to use your credit in the near term, good luck! I received a letter from Holland on Jan 7 2017 disclosing that paper copies of past and current Dimension resident applications were stolen from a locker at the Dimension building. I was happy to know the source of my identity theft but was left dumbfounded by how grossly negligent Holland has been in this case, specifically: 1) Why was my SSN stored at all by Dimension? You apply online and enter your SSN for a credit check. It should then be deleted. 2) Why was my information including SSN printed on paper in the first place? You apply online, not via paper. What was the purpose of printing the information and storing it insecurely in the office? 3) Why was my information including SSN retained more than a year after my lease ended? What right does Holland have to that information when we no longer have a business relationship? 4) Why did the notification take so long? My identity was stolen and actively used more than a month ago. For this reason alone I would avoid Dimension and any other building managed by Holland. Stay away. Staff are unhelpful and they most definitely don't work in the tenets' best interest. Something broke? We might get around to it in a week or two. Something stolen? Not our problem, deal with it. Poor Security? Give us a year, then we'll consider fixing the problem. Meanwhile, they've charged you upwards of $3k/month in rent. To underscore the point: Security is a significant issue. From break-ins in the garage to the building itself, the building management seems incompetent to reality of Belltown. Amazing view, especially if facing north-west, high-end appliances and millwork, doesn't feel like cheap contractor-grade housing. You are paying way above top dollar for all those luxury features without the service or nice neighborhood. Belltown sucks. Third ave is loud with buses, but the homeless shelter across Cedar is a constant source for noise, fights and trash. You will keep your windows shut all the time or regret it. Corporate management is impersonal, inflexible, often incompetent with lots of turn-over. Shout out to you Amy Kramer! You are a rude, miserable person I wish never to deal with again. Building is overrun with disrespectful, passive-aggressive people. Take your pick of these quality neighbors: entitled tech-bros, college kids, door slammers, bad dog owners and sometimes outright crazy people...that screaming lady anyone??? My partner and I spent two years in Dimension. Here are some of our impressions: Pros: * The staff is friendly, courteous and efficient. We worked a lot with Rebecca --she is great and we will miss her. Any issues in our apartment were fixed promptly * Location is very convenient. Walkable distance to anywhere downtown. 3rd Ave is a great street for public transport access. And because it is closed for cars for the most part of the day, it remains relatively quiet * The rooftop is amazing * There are Peloton spin bikes Cons: * Some stuff in the building was left unattended for months, like elevator access controls and garage door. There is access control in elevators, but none on the stairs. Which kind of undermines the whole idea * There is no ceiling lightning in living room & bedroom * The cork floor is both a blessing and a curse. More of a curse, actually. It is warm and pleasantly springy, yes, but we've became paranoid about even the tiniest drops of liquid on it * There are a lot of sketchy people wandering around the building Overall our impressions were very good. We've moved out just because we wanted to change the neighborhood and will remember Dimension and people there fondly. read more

Great place to live. Amazing roof top. Staff is helpful and very responsive, especially Mike, Charlotte, Gloria, Brandon. Loved staying there for an year. Would have continued if the avenue next to it was more safer. They have improved it now as more police have been set up but before there were quite a bit of homeless people. Nice pool table and coffee machine (though I only like espresso vanilla in that). Roof lounge is a bit expensive to book almost $150. Could be cheaper. Maintenance is very quick. Despite the beautiful building it is not worth living there due to the poor management. It took them 2 years to improve security issues- even after a major break in it took them 7 months to update the security system. Despite multiple requests improve the gardens which were there responsibility there was no proper follow through. When trying to get in touch with compórtate Holland Partner group there was no response. I had recommended multiple apartments to the building during my time there, they will all be leaving for similar reasons - lack of care from the property managers. read more

Pros: - Stunning views of the Space Needle, Downtown & Puget Sound - Great location. Short walk to Amazon campus, Downtown - Friendly staff. Concierge service is convenient - Nice units with high-end appliances Cons: - One of the more expensive apartment buildings in Belltown - Limited common space. It is often reserved or too crowded to use. - Sketchy area. I never felt unsafe, but there's a lot of drugs & homelessness on 3rd ave. I once caught a guy picking the lock to a car door and yelled, "Hey!" He was completely unfazed. He glared at me as if to say, "Listen, buddy...it's rude to interrupt people." To be fair, you need to have a high tolerance for sketchiness if you live in a major city. All things considered, I might still recommend Dimension, but it depends on your situation. You will probably like this building if... a) You're in your 20s and you don't have kids b) Frugality is not a big concern when it comes to rent c) You are enamored by scenic views d) You work in SLU or Downtown and walking to work is a high priority read more

There are issues with management fixing things on time. For example, our garage door has been broken for over 2-3 weeks now. And as a result, our garage is not a safe place anymore, with break-ins and other stuff. read more

I was apartment sitting at this property for a few days for a personal friend who was out of town. The first thing that caught my attention was the coffee machine which had cups take along for the go but the next day you came down for coffee and there was a sign that read bring own cups now to fill ur personal mugs now instead! I thought odd and shook my head! TACKY! Also I noticed there was alot of tenants with issues with the management. I witnessed four separate tenants moving out that were dissatisfied with residing at that property. The building has a remarkable view that is it! The unit I sat for had no air flow and I did not care for the property itself due to the homeless shelter directly across from the entrance of this building! Very dangerous and unsafe! read more

This building has some of the best views in Seattle both from the apartments and from the rooftop. The staff are top notch here, especially Charlotte. They made move in easy and continue to be great with updating residents if there's going to be noise in a specific area of the building. The gym here is small but one of the higher quality apartment gyms I've seen and it's open 24 hrs. Location is great, right near all the restaurants and bars I like. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I've lived in Dimension for the past year and I love it! The staff is extremely friendly and always remembers my name. The units are great and space efficient as well. The appliances might be small for some, but they're the perfect size for any kind of cooking I need to do. They also just finished renovations on their roof top and lobby areas and they're some of the nicest I've seen. Everywhere else I've lived I've never used the rooftop deck, but here it's so amazing I have to. The location is great, staff is friendly, and apartments suite exactly what I'm looking for. read more

As a now formal tenant, my final impressions of Dimension: Don't move into this building. Full stop. Some pros: - The rooftop is absolutely stunning. The SkyLounge is well-appointed, and the rooftop view of the Space Needle is one of the best in Seattle. - There is a package locker system allowing for 24/7 pickup of packages without (usually) having to bother the office staff. - The maintenance workers are professional, courteous, and get requests done quickly and efficiently. The cons: - Straight from one of the maintenance workers himself - when you move out, even if you sanitize your apartment top to bottom, the office WILL charge you $150 for cleaning. - The office staff is terrible. As they are a Holland Residential building, the staff between buildings rotates frequently. It's near impossible to get to know staff and have them get to know you. In addition, their attitudes are far worse than the staff of the building's previous owner. - If you own a dog and use the dog relief area, prepare to have to clean your shoes frequently from dog poop. A combination of using wood chips in the area along with reluctance to punish those who don't clean up after their dogs leads to frequent messes. - The elevators break down far too frequently for what is supposed to be a "luxury" apartment building. Additionally, the fob/fingerprint security system broke years ago and was never fixed. If someone gets into the building, they have free access to every floor. For what we've paid in rent and the exorbitant rent increases each year, it's not worth it at all. read more
